Spencer's at the Waterfront - Crispy Duck Leg Confit & Breast ($46)

They even asked the sous chef to make sure the presentation was excellent; he didn't disappoint. Their menu changes seasonally. I ordered the following: 1. Coke ($). 2. Tempura Shrimp ($27). 3. Crispy Duck Leg Confit & Breast ($46). 4. Saskatoon Berry Cheesecake ($14). The Tempura Shrimp were tiger shrimp and were so plump, each about 1 inch diameter at the widest end! They were de-shelled and tempura battered. There were orange slices (orange), avocado slices (green), and chili slices (red), making the dish colourful. The Crispy Duck came with a leg and sliced breast portions. Accompanying them were tamarillo, sunchoke puree, bordelaise, dried kale chips, berry gastrique, and chopped candied pecans. All the ingredients worked well together, with mixtures of savoury and sweet tastes. The Cheesecake was amazing. The cheesecake itself was an upside-down half sphere. It was soft; I prefer that over the typical firm cake. There were miniature dried berries on top, along with a ruby chocolate sauce, and a sliced of dried red beet. Surrounding it was a soft marshmallow meringue which was lightly torched. The colour theme was red and white with a touch of dark blue. Daimon, the sous chef, plated everything expertly for me. There is plenty of indoor seating, of which one side has a view of the lake. There is lively music playing in the background. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is free street parking on weekends on a street running north of the restaurant. There is also a paid parking lot next to the restaurant. Returned to Spencer's at the Waterfront for brunch and was not disappointed…read more I enjoy visiting Spencer's on special occasions. At the recommendation of the service staff, I ordered the Crab Cake Egg Benedict (lemon aïoli, boston lettuce, chive hollandaise), served for weekend brunch only. Similar to my previous meals here, the food had subtle layers of flavour that came together nicely with every bite. I tend to gravitate to food that I can't get at other restaurants. The server informed us that the meal was not served on brioche like the other Egg Benedict's, but I was still full with the side salad (yeh, no arugula). My husband ordered the side fries so his belly was full. There were two crab cakes with eggs, and plenty of crab inside. I was glad that I didn't taste fillers. Service was good and we sat at a table with a waterfront view. The Sloane tea and beverages were a pricey and small for what they were, hence one of the reasons I don't come here as frequently. Overall, I enjoy the food here.

Double smashed patties, crispy bacon, melty cheddar, fresh lettuce, juicy tomato -- all stacked perfectly in a toasted bun that holds its own. Every bite hits with smoky, salty, cheesy, and juicy goodness. Sunshine, picnic tables, and a burger that means business. This isn't fast food -- it's crafted chaos in the best way. Would 100% come back just for that bacon alone. Tag your burger buddy and prepare to drool. #BurgerGoals

I enjoy new food experiences and was excited to give Bernie's Tavern a try from all the good…read morereviews. Our overall experience started well however turned south after a series of issues. I do want to mention my husband and I did visit on a sunny summer evening & it was busy. Upon arrival, we did wait to be welcomed and when we were, the hostess was very friendly and informed us only interior tables were available however when a patio space was available we would be moved to our requested spot. We sat & were served by a very attentive, friendly waitress. She was awesome - answering menu questions & promptly serving our drink order. It took about 20-25 min for a patio table to come free and again our friendly hostess moved us outside. With this said - this wasn't an easy feat as there is a main entrance and a patio entrance. The hostess was bouncing back and forward to assure no one just walked in & sat at a patio table when people were waiting inside. This young lady did amazing! However, I can not say anything nice about the service we received once moved outside. Since we did move to a new table - we then had a new waitress. She made me regret moving. Her lack of attention and demeanour was such contrast to what we just had experienced from the previous 2 lovely, attentive staff. She grabbed my empty glass from the table, never asking if I'd like a refill. As she was walking away, I spoke up asking for another beer. She balked at me as if I was bugging her. I blew it off, thinking it was an isolated incident. When the meal arrived, she didn't place the food down but dropped it to the point the food on the plate moved & some salad spilling from the plate. The action startled us both however she was gone before we could say anything. There was nothing said from the waitress - no questions 'can I get you anything', 'enjoy' - nothing. Was she having a bad night? I don't think so as we witnessed being very charming to others. The behaviour continued as we finished up plates, she swiftly move in, grab the plate & leave abruptly without asking if we need anything. Our drink glasses remained empty and we had to flag down another waitress to get refills. The food was just ok. We shared the much raved about pepperoni pizza & arugula salad. For $16 - there was a container of arugula & you had to hunt for the other ingredients that were next to non-existent. It wasn't overly dressed, which was a plus however it was very underwhelming. The pizza when it was dropped onto the table fell in such a way that the hot toppings all moved to one side. Once we shifted them back in place, found the pizza to be undercooked & unimpressive. Did we just have a bit of bad luck? Maybe however we won't be going back given the experience.

We were here for a weekend lunch and there were folks there for a late breakfast as well as another family with small children having a meal together. Based on the phone calls, it sounded like the place was booked full out that evening. We had (table of four): - Mixed Grill Platter (for two): it fed more like 3 - 4 people, lots of variety to pick at; Sausage (pork), Chevaps (pork and beef sausages), Raznjici (pork), Chicken Schnitzel and Karadjordjeva Schnitzel (Pork rolled & stuffed with prosciutto and cottage cheese) - Vienna Schnitzel (pork) - all the dishes comes with (potatoes OR rice) AND vegetables (buttered carrots, beans, broccoli, cauliflower); various potato sides (like crispy fries) as available and rice (like tomato gypsy based) There was enough food for four people plus leftovers as a side for dinner. The sauce was great on everything from the schnitzel to the fries. Service was quick, food was great, and it was all at a great value. Will be back to try their buttered fried mushrooms and nature (mushroom) schnitzel in future. A local staple!

The server was very attentive and friendly. The salad was good; however, the pork chop was a little dry, but it had good flavor, and the veggies were delicious.
