Isn't it interesting how the reviews go from Excellent to LOUSY? Maybe it has something to do with who is "in charge" that day. We have been dining at PizzaLand for over 25 years. They have the best lasagna and chicken parmigana in town.The food has always been wonderful except for one time. One day the sauce was not quite the same. And anyone who cooks KNOWS that when you make a recipe it does not always come out exactly the same. This one time the sauce was watery and bland, and when it was mentioned to our waitress, she told the cook. That turned out to be "Bob" and he screamed and cursed at us about how we had insulted him and to get out of HIS retaurant. He wouldn't even accept payment for our meal, the waitress told us he said to just leave. We did not go back for months and months. But one day my son ordered take out from them and my husband went along to pick it up. Sal asked where had we been (as we were regulars and would be in once a week ). My husband explained what Bob had done to us. Sal apologized and said we were welcome there any time. Sal said to call him any time something like that ever happened agan, but he didn't give me the number. So we started coming back and today, Sal nor Grace were there. We ordered our food and saw that it was Bob "on duty". We ate the food which was good as always. But when my husband went to pay, he was called an F****ing asshole by Bob and that we should never come back again. Then he told my husband his card did not work and he was not going to run it again. Then Bob says to leave that we are not welcome and he's calling the Police. So I paid Bob with my debit card and he tells me I still owe him from last time. Last time he told the waitress no charge and for us to leave. So when I leave I see he has now charged me DOUBLE. And all you people who started harrassing us at the counter YOU had no idea what was going on. Telling me I should have some class..... I never said a curse word to him and just asked for Sal's phone number to call him as Sal had asked me to. But Bob would not give it to me. So after years of dining there, having parties there, reccommending their business to others, THIS is how we get treated. If you want good, courteous service make sure you don't go when Bob is in charge. He is rude and unreasonable and a poor "manager/owner". He is ruining the business . He should just retire as he obviously does not like being there and treating customers with respect. read more

Pizzaland did an amazing job of accommodating our party of over 45 people with only a few hours notice. Yes, service was a bit slow, but what can you expect when you show up with 13 12 year old boys and their families will almost no warning? All the food came out together and was worth the wait! I'm from Long Island, home of some of the best pizza in NY. I believe the owner is originally from Long Island as well (but I could be mistaken.) So when I moved here a few years ago I had a hard time finding a decent slice of pizza like back home, until I stumbled upon THE PIZZA GEM. If you are looking for true authentic NY style pizza (that's not all greasy and thin or too salty) with a delicious handmade sauce, this is the place for you! The crust has a nice thickness and they put a ton of cheese that makes so that either cooked light, dark, or however you like it, you will always be impressed. I loved everything that I have tried on the menu. I especially loooove their subs, lasagna, their dishes and most of all their calzones and cannolis are to die for!!! Love the pizza here, truly authentic NYS pizza with that tang of pepper and oregano in the sauce with chewy mozzarella, and a thin sheen of oil to top it off. All on a classic NYS crust- hard (not crispy) on the outside, chewy on the inside. Portions have gotten a little smaller while prices have gone up , but still a god deal for a family outing. Try their ravioli too, along with the garlic bread. It comes out piping hot in a little casserole dish covered in gooey mozzarella. read more

If I could give the food negative five stars I would. I ordered the pasta with white mushrooms in butter and white wine sauce. It was by far the worst meal I have ever eaten my entire life. The dish was pure grease. The mushrooms were from a can. I got sick after eating just a little bit. I think my two year old could make a tastier dish with her play dough. My children thought the $11 wings were too tough to eat so I asked for a new order only to be literally berated by the owner who insulted me and told me I could take some wings home and cook them myself. How about the 15 pizzas and multiple beers, cases of wine and sodas we purchased? He literally dismissed me despite my trying to appease him. Really? I'm shocked that he could stay in business if this is how he treats his customers. Over an order of wings? Beyond disappointed. Awful, awful, awful customer service. Negative stars. If I could give 0 stars, I would. First, we walked in and we waited to be seated. There was no indicator that we should seat ourselves, and many employees and the owner made eye contact with us as we waited. After 10 minutes, we asked if it was seat yourself, to which a hostess said "Yup." We sat at the only available table, which was dirty with food and plates still on it. Waitresses went by and made eye contact without ever acknowledging us. We waved one down, who sent another waitress out that cleaned our table. We waited for twenty minutes before walking about because no one came to even set out place mats, silverware, or menus. Other tables who had come in after us were being served before we had ever gotten menus, no matter how many times we got staff's attention. The owner showed no remorse and the waitstaff was incredibly rude. I've lived in Oneonta for three years, and I had never heard of Pizza Land. Now I know why. read more

DO NOT GO with large baseball group while visiting Cooperstown. This is not the establishment that wants to host you. The owner (yes, owner) was rude, condescending, and ugly to lady in our group because she requested an appetizer to be replaced because original was overcooked. Over a $10 appetizer, the owner insulted her and had her in tears/ruined her night. Apparently, the $400 pizza/beer/wine/soda bill wasn't enough business for him. The 'customer is always right' isn't his motto. read more
