One word: WOW! The pizza here is AMAZING! It's honestly easy to miss if you're walking by (especially with COVID, side note: I appreciate how cautious and the staff is here for their safety as well as their customers) and honestly I thought it was an entry to a bar or a small lounge due to the colorful lights. However, my neighbor the other day confirmed that it's actually a pizzeria and that the pizza is great! My boyfriend and I decided to try it out since we're new to the area and are slowly exploring all the great restaurants near us. We placed an online order last night for the meatballer and the rocket man. DELICIOUS! The meatballer is your traditional meatball pizza but you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the craft that goes into Pizzahacker creating their pizzas. The rocket man came with fresh rocket in a separate container (i.e. no wilted rocket by the time you get home!) with a spicy/vinegar-y dressing to drizzle on top with parm AND eggs on the pizza -- YUM! I can't wait to work my way through the menu here, highly recommend! read more

Ordered regular pizza for my husband and baby and gluten free pizza for myself. After 25 min regular pizza came in and I was told there is no gluten free option today. I set hungry through the dinner while my family was stressed out and ate as fast as possible so we can go get me food somewhere else. read more

The pizza is delicious. It reminded me of a cross between Zero, Zero's and Ragazza's pizza. With oven temps over 600 degrees, the pies come out pretty quickly with crispy/crusty edges yet chewy interiors. We opted for the Short Bridge which is a meat lovers dream with mushrooms included just for the hell of it. It was enough for two people but, if we were really hungry then two pies would have been an even better option! Fort Point Kolsch was our beer of choice. The pizza menu is really small and there are a few choices for salads but, that's about it. This is a very casual place. ....very.....casual.....place... You're going for the pizza. It's excellent. read more

My favorite bagels in the city - soft and chewy and freshly made. I had the gravlax, which has a fishier taste the normal smoked salmon but was still lovely, as well as their egg and cheese bagel sandwich and they were both great. Excellent to go pizza for dinner that really didn't suffer on the drive back to the place (although it was only 6 minutes!). We ordered early on a Sunday evening as we were starving, so it was ready within 20 minutes of ordering. The Yo Vinny and the Rocket Man were both excellent. A single pizza would be OK for 2 persons if you weren't super hungry, but we like a little leftovers for the next day. The sourdough crusts are excellent, a nice puff around the crust but still soft inside. Flavors on both were excellent. The egg on the Rocket Man made it. It was also great that they put the arugula in a separate box so it did not get all soggy on the way home. The only downside was that we found the chili paste for the Rocket Man buried under the arugula after we had finished eating - oh well, will have it for the leftovers. Curbside pickup was quick but a tad unnerving as you have to stop in the red bus lane (unless you can snag a parking space a couple of doors down to the south). read more

So I don't usually like pizza, I know, I'm a monster. Pizzeria Delfina was my first pizza love. And now Pizzahacker has solidified my love for pizzas. Sourdough crust? I mean COME. ON. How could we not love you? my favorite from Pizzahacker is Over The Top: tomato sauce, burrata, basil, olive oil, and grana padano (similar to parm). I LOVE simple pizzas like this. I like to spread the burrata out and top with a little more Maldon. Second favorite pizza is Rocket Man: lemon dressed arugula, garlic, mozzarella, egg. These are literally all my favorite things so.. it's very clearly another winner. Pro tip: hot honey on EVERYTHING. read more

Love this place!! Some of the best pizza in town. They've updated the seating which makes it much more com comfortable.

I can usually tell if I'll like a pizza immediately base solely on it's appearance. So superficial. I know. This time, with Pizza Hacker, I was wrong... I've been drooling over Pizza Hacker food pics since they were merely a pop up. I was ecstatic when they opened up a store front in Bernal a couple months back. I finally made my way over there and was disappointed by the pizza; however, the value / price is amazing. I would return just because I feel like I ordered the wrong thing.... Tips: - They don't do 2 flavors on one pie. You can modify ingredients (for a cost). - One pie is 6 slices, can serve 2 people who aren't super hungry because the crust is decently thick for thin crust. * ROCKET MAN ($15.63) - 3 STARS: Arugula, Garlic, Fresh Mozzarella, Farm egg, lemon juice, chili paste. (+Sausage). The crust is thin but thick enough to have a nice and chewy bite, but I felt that there wasn't enough toppings and flavor to balance it out. It was a bit flavorless, despite it being doused generously with oil and roughly cut garlic. The most disappointing thing was that the egg was completely hard and overcooked. * CABERNET SAUVIGNON ($19.31) - 3 STARS: Y+B - Cabernet Sauvignon - Lodi - 2011. Not complaining for a half carafe this seems like a great deal! * MADRE CHOCOLATE - Not available anymore No longer being sold here =( They only have shave ice for dessert. read more

Delicious casual spot, great specials and rotating taps. Large tables so could be good for a group.

Really yummy pizza! And I love that they are accommodating to vegan folks (they had vegan cheese upon request and/or you can get the Marina pie without the cheese.) The salads were also delicious. And they have a nice rotating beer/wine list. Don't pass up on the Calabrian chili oil at the table. My only gripes with this place were the noise level - my party of 3 went in at 6:30pm on a Saturday night - and the shared tables, which need to be wider, are too crowded to fit multiple items. I'd say come at an off hour, or if you live in the neighborhood order takeout. Definitely worth it! read more

I'd write a review of the food at PizzaHacker, but unfortunately, I never received my order! Let me explain. I placed an order at 6:31pm on April 7th online for a top shelf margarita pizza with an egg, 6-pack of beer, and one apple juice. I waited outside until 7:38pm while other customers who ordered after me began receiving their orders! I was able to confirm this fact by simply asking others waiting when they had placed their orders. One person placed an order at 6:45pm and received not one but two pizzas right in front me! I can only imagine how many others ordered past 6:31pm and received their orders before me as well! I wasn't going to ask every single person waiting what time they had placed their order. I just needed a few confirmations to determine what was going on. As the server was handing an order out to another customer, I asked flat out if they had even begun preparing my order?! The answer to my question was "sorry, it's how their ordering system works!" So I could only conclude based on their brilliant ordering system, that they didn't even begin preparing my order! Considering I had to be somewhere at 7:45pm, I instructed them to simply cancel my order. They accommodated my request shortly after which only verified the fact that they hadn't even begun preparing my food. Irritated that my dinner plans had taken a major detour, I left a message on their voicemail in a diplomatic tone explaining my frustration with what had transpired. I repeated my cell phone number twice to ensure they'd have it. I drove all the way up from San Bruno to wait outside for 45 minutes for an order that hadn't even reached the oven! One would think a business would be willing to make some sort of concession considering the time I had wasted. I was simply asking for an acknowledgement of the inconvenience I was put through, and some sort of effort to remedy the situation. Not to my surprise, I NEVER received a call back from anyone! I had also emailed "Jeff Krupman" directly whom I believe is the owner of the establishment with a summary of the situation. No response to my email either! Given the non-reply to my email and voicemail correspondence, I'll simply have to post my grievance here. The following day I decided to try another pizza joint in Glen Park called Giuliana's Pizza. The experience was 5-star all around, and I plan on writing a positive review of the establish soon. I placed an order over the phone along with two appetizers, and everything was ready in 20 minutes! Imagine that. You call a business, place a food order, your order is placed in a queue, and it's ready in a timely fashion. What's even more impressive with their system is that people who order after you don't get their orders before you. Perhaps the owner or employees of PizzaHacker should get some training from the people at Giuliana's Pizza, or most other pizza establishments I've frequented. I know where I'll be making my pizza orders for now on. Not only was the quality of their product something I'd consider "top shelf", but their service is in line with what one would expect from most businesses in the food industry. read more

I love pizza and I think this is the best pizza in SF. I guess that's not the highest bar in the world but it's higher than people think. The ingredients just taste incredibly fresh. *** Part of this review is from a pre-Covid dining experience, but we are regulars, and the food has always been top class. *** Pizza Hacker has become our family's go-to pizza place. Great variety of pizzas, fantastic crust, a pick-up service where they bring it out to you in your car, and excellent service. Our waitpersons have always made our night special with attentive, friendly service that reminded us of how lucky we are to live where we do, eating pizza this good, as such an honest and authentic place. read more

The toppings on their pizzas are great but the noteworthy element is their crust. I heard that the mother dough is from Tartine and I believe it. It's a thin crust that has the perfect amount of chewiness and flavor without tasting like card board or Costco pizza. The Rocket Man is a go-to for me. The arugula that is lightly tossed in a vinaigrette compliments the garlic, fresh mozzarella, farm egg, lemon juice, chili paste and amplifies the crust (subtle sourdough taste, nice balance of chewy and crisp). We ordered it with the homemade sausage, which adds in a nice meaty, salty taste to it all. The Summer Fave (seasonal) truly tastes like a bite of summer with the blistered tomatoes and topped with lightly dressed arugula and topped with grana. read more

This pizza lives up to the ideal thin crust pizza. Crisp toasted crust that doesn't get left behind. We had the Yo Vinny with sausage but I definitely will return for the Ohio pizza with pepperoni. The sauce was just remarkable since it is something I normally don't remark on. Delicious! Sweet and tangy. The mix green salad was finished in no time. It was dressed in a vinegarette that did not overwhelm the freshness of the greens. Worth spreading the word around about PizzaHacker. Good beer. Good service. Pleasant atmosphere Family friendly. Terrific thin crust pizza. Will go back. read more

This a great spot for a cheap, quick bite! I came with some coworkers after a hard day at work and the if the Calabrian chili sauce is not enough to cheer you up, then the dino kale is for sure to lift your spirits For 6 people we ordered 3 pizzas (top shelf margherita, short bridge, and a meatball special), and a kale caesar salad. The food was plenty for us, granted we did come from a bar right before. The service was fast and friendly and our pizzas came out in a short amount of time. Pizzahacker's pizzas are a thin crust pizza with just the right amount of sauce and are perfect amount for a few slices especially if you order a variety of pies and want to try each one. The short bridge pie was my personal favorite, I felt that it had the best flavor incorporating two different meats that created this salty, umami filled when eaten. This is a great place for families or even a group of friends after a little bit of drinking. I'll be bringing my boyfriend next time because he's a sucker for a cheap, delicious bite read more

Went to this place on a Friday night and was able to get a table for a large party pretty quickly. The inside has a nice vibe - skylights that brighten up the place, strung lights and lots of art that makes it feel cozy. Our group started with some Dino kale salad and got six different pizzas. Everything was great. The standouts were the top shelf margarita and the short bridge. The best thing about their pizzas is the crust, chewy and flavorful. We also got a few bottles of the Lambrusco which was a great accompaniment to our meal. Loved this place and would highly recommend. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place as I've been waiting a few years to finally try it, but unfortunately I ended up with a burnt pie (burnt, not charred). I would have sent it back but didn't want to wait another 35+ minutes as I was too hungry. I ate the most burnt pieces from my pie and the photos are from the other half which were the least burnt ones, which says a lot. The oven may or may not have been in tune since the deck seemed to burn the crust far faster then the toppings would indicate. Maybe he forgot to check the skirt or maybe he didn't care, but a pizza that that is 90 percent burnt should be identifiable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because the servers seemed nice enough and I can tell the pie had potential otherwise. read more

Love this place! The large Intermezzo Salad is huuuge, more like XL, with high quality greens and multicolored carrots. Pizza crust and sauce are excellent vehicles for the toppings. If you enjoy cardboard crust and chintzy toppings....you will love Pizza Hacker! Never have I felt so cheated. The crust wasn't even crisp - it collapsed under the thin boring toppings. Absolutely nothing tasted fresh. We ordered 3 different pizzas, and they were all bad. There was no service and we had to wait a long time even with reservations. You know how people always start reviews off with, 'I really wanted to like it but...' Well, I kind of straight up didn't want to like this place. Something about the name really digs at me. But I came anyway and the pizza was unreasonably good. Too legit, if I do say so myself. Inside is all communal seating... everyone's personal hell. But it is a great place to come with a group of 6-8 because then you won't have to share a table with one of the families who brought their screaming children along to bang plates, cry, and mash chalk on their giant chalkboard wall. When we got here that description could be applied to every table in the joint... so apparently it's family friendly if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not. But that pizza was sooo good. Thin crust, artisan toppings great combos, and they aren't jerk about adding our substituting stuff on their already put together pizza combos- in fact, it seemed pretty encouraged. They have a small but varied selection of beer and wine on tap and a few bottle offering as well. You'll notice salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and Calabrian hot chili pepper oil on all the tables. If you like spicy, def dig into the Calabrian pot- I sauced up my already perfect pizza with it and it was some next level sh*t. I got the upgraded margherita pizza and also added kalamata olives and like I said before, it was perfect. Our service was super chill and the vibe is super casual to the point where you might not be sure if you just order at the counter of if this is the sit down and get a menu type place (it's the latter). Despite my initial and inexplicable dislike of the restaurant name, my pizza was incredible and I can't wait to find myself back here again. read more

I know, I know. I'm kind of bringing down the mood in the PizzaHacker review feed, raining on the proverbial parade. But hear me out - if the good people behind this place (and in front of it, for that matter) this pick up what I'm layin' down, beautiful things could happen here. I'm not a local - in fact I was a good 2,000 miles from home when I walked into PH. So I got the scoop on its background from the friends I was dining with, and suddenly it all made sense: PizzaHacker was the product of a food truck putting on the breaks and taking up a less mobile home in this space. The problem is - that's exactly what it feels like. On a food truck, the emphasis is on creating memorable, craving-inducing street eats. It also can't hurt to be friendly with those who wander up to your truck to create a sense of loyalty. It seems PH had these two aspects down pat, and they translated perfectly to the new space. Our server was a great guy, attentive and welcoming. The owner was on hand touching tables and hanging out with guests. The menu is simple, sticking to what they do best - thin crusts that somehow manage to be both crunchy and soft at the same time topped with innovative ingredients (with the requisite clever monikers, to boot). The Heavy Nettle was a massive hit - foraged nettles are a seriously rad pizza topping; who knew? Don't expect heavy toppings here - they're going for balance and I love it. With gourmet ingredients like these, I don't want a blanket of cheese to overpower it all. Rating solely on food and service, I would have given them 4.5 stars. But when dining (and especially if I'm going to pay $15/pizza), I'm looking for a full experience - and the atmosphere at PH needs a little help. I love the fun touch of the lights strung overhead, and I don't even mind the picnic table style seating. But when the dining room only gets a decent cleaning at the end of the night (napkins fell on the floor and stayed there, tables remained un-bussed for long periods of time, the singular bathroom for the entire place had standing water on the floor and was in pretty bad shape), the experience starts to suffer. In general, the space had an unfinished feeling - extra supplies lying out in the open, disorganized shelving where items just hadn't found a permanent home yet, and a starkness that left it feeling a little cold despite what could have easily been a more festive environment. Some adjustment with the lighting and the addition of something to soak up a little sound (it gets really loud with even a small crowd) would do wonders. And finally I have to mention the house red wine - an excellent value, but my god does it taste like straight up grape juice! If you love a sweet red, you're all set (and many of the pies are spicy, so a little sweet can't hurt I guess). I get that this is definitely a beer kind of place, but I'd love to see the wine list expand a little to create more interesting pairing with the pizzas. The good news, PizzaHacker? You're off to a great start. Hoping to be back to the Left Coast soon to check on your progress and try a few more of your creations. read more

Living nearby I was happy to see a new pizza place emerge from a building that has held a bank, Rock Soup, and a Peruvian restaurant. Having heard of the FranenWeber pop ups, but me not wanting to be out and about after midnight, I was happy to see a brick and mortar for pizza. Let's face it, if you know this area there is not much decent pizza nearby. One may be fine for kids, and the other was very good a dozen + years ago, pizza pickings are slim. I've tried just about every pizza offered, but usually fall back to my standard Top Shelf Margherita or Yo Vinny, my favorite being the Yo Vinny. It is something about those marinated peppers. I always add a hefty dose of the chili paste. Toppings may be sparse, but that is the nature of a good pizza. I don't want tons of cheese or toppings; I want quality ingredients bringing everything together. That's what you get at PizzaHacker. Thin crust, properly charred in an electric oven that reads 666 degrees. An Intermezzo salad is available with poppy seed dressing, but ask for croutons. Beer and wine are available, but I usually opt for water. Some pizzas are added as toppings come into season. Not much in atmosphere, as tables consist of park tables and benches with chairs scattered. Children will have great fun with one wall being a chalkboard, while parents enjoy their meal. read more

This place is kind of out of the way for lots of people so I'm so glad that postmates exists. I love to get food delivered when I'm lazy and don't want to leave my apartment. Pizzahacker is one of those places that suggests using postmates which is kind of cool (offer it for less delivery cost please!). When I got the pizza (top shelf marg), it was already a little cold which made me sad, but I should have put it into the oven to warm it up a bit, but it was good regardless. I definitely had it a couple days later and it was good. The margarita pizza was traditional and definitely so good. I also got the intermezzo salad (which was supposed to be similar to the salad from this great place in Berkeley). It wasn't the same salad since there wasn't as much of it, but it was pretty similar. The items were very similar, but I wished for more toppings since that's what I remembered from those salads. I really didn't want to like this place. I am anti anything "hacker." No, it's not because I am an internet securities agent. I just hate this phenomenon of calling something "blah blah blah" then hacker at the end as a way to express expertise in something done quickly and at low cost. My most hated is "growth hacker." Just accept you're a marketer, will you. God, can't stand it. Anyways, I'm straying. There was a 2nd thing going against PizzaHacker. I don't always love "fancy" pizza. Despite this, PizzaH... hhhacker is good. Its sourdough crust is thin with perfect combination of chew and crisp. Their ingredients are fresh and delicious. And anything is good with an egg on top.... including pizza. I also do like the vibe in there with the communal tables and high ceilings. It's casual , delicious with reasonable prices. Service has been hit or miss. I just hate the name so bad. Oh well, I've accepted it. I'm over it. The name is dead to me. Try it. You'll like it. If you can get over the name. read more

Oh, how I love pizza! We had a large group and luckily they were able to accommodate us pretty quickly considering it was a Saturday night. We ordered 5 pizzas for about 10 of us to share and that got us pretty satisfied. We had: - Margherita: it was good, but I'm more of a non-vegetarian type of eater - Yo Vinny!: This was is pretty much like a combo pizza and it was good as well. Nothing super amazing though - Rocket Man: This one was my favorite. It had argugla, pandano (some kind of really thin meat), lemon and a sunny side up egg. I love the combination of the lemon, arugula, and pandano. the only thing that sucks is that it's really hard to split the egg because it's just on once slice of the pizza. Overall, it was good pizza. The pizzas are kind of thin though so they're not super filling unless you order more than your usual (unless that's just me). Wow. Just left the soft opening of the new Pizza Hacker brick & mortar on Mission. I couldn't be more impressed. As a Delfina loyalist, it is hard to admit that this might be the best pizza I have had in SF (or anywhere for that matter). First and foremost, the crust is perfect. Perfectly crispy, perfectly doughy, perfectly charred. Just perfect. Secondly, although it may be even more defining than the crust itself, is that the toppings don't overwhelm the crust. While still tasting the unique combinations of toppings on each pizza, you don't lose the crispiness or flavor of the crust. We shared the "Crowd Pleaser" & the "Get A Room." The Crowd Pleaser was great. With no tomato sauce, radiccho, dried figs, Point Reye's blue cheese & onion, it tasted almost like a crostini-pizza hybrid. No complaints here. The Get A Room, however, was the hands-down favorite (although we finished both pizzas without hesitation-an unusual feat for two small, eyes-bigger-than-their-stomach type of chicks). It's tomato & mozz were fabulous, and it didn't have too much of either. The Spanish chorizo, red onions, olives and hot cherry peppers were all in perfect proportion and married together wonderfully. The service was great, the space was fun and matched the cuisine perfectly, and the owner came by to see how everyone was enjoying their food (everyone around us echoed the same rave reviews we had given). I mean, I hate to overuse the word but it was pretty... perfect. read more

Holy Moly. Pizzahacker is still the reigning champ for best pizza in SF and there's no debating it. If you're looking for what I would call a hybrid of Napoletana and San Francisco style of pie, it doesn't get any better. Why do I think it's a hybrid you ask? Well, the crust has a nice bit of "sour" influence due to the native yeasts in the air and the ferment that Pizzahacker much use in their process. It's delicious. As far as the sauce, toppings and cheese go...they are tops. Man, I'm starving just writing this review. Do it, do it do it!!! read more
