My son has a buddy we have over for regular play dates and he only eats pizza. I grew super tired of eating it and needed a change up. Found this place on DoorDash and decided to give it a shot as the pizzas weren't your run of the mill. We got the Shroomer add their homemade Italian Sausage, the Ohio, some wings and of course the Margarita for the kids. All of the pizzas were top notch and awesome flavor combos! I felt like the wing skin was a little chewy but I'm weird like that and everyone else loved them! The pizza dough was like a sourdough crust that was a little chewy and much appreciated! They definitely took me out of my pizza funk! I only have one suggestion... on DoorDash you can't add pepperoni to the margarita for the picky kids that don't know what they're missing with the Ohio that's a pepperoni with peppers. read more

Fantastic pizza place, serving thin pizzas. We've ordered here multiple times and the pizzas are always consistently delicious. We've tried the Yo Vinny, Top Shelf Margharita, and Short Bridge (latest pizza we ordered). The pizzas have a great balance of flavors with the tomato sauce, good quality tasting cheeses, and toppings. For the short bridge, there is a slight sour kick (love it!) I'm thinking from the sopressata and the house-made sausage was awesome. And can't forget about the dough. Chewy, soft, great flavor. Really delicious pizza and great service. I slept on this place for years, always heard that it was packed so that it would be tough to get a seat so I didn't bother checking it out. But my husband and I finally checked it out yesterday soon after it opened and it was practically empty. Maybe folks tend to come through later, or maybe the packed crowds are a thing of the past. Late post from my first time here at the PizzaHacker last Friday located on 29th and Valencia in which my son had previously gone to the one in Mill Valley and raved about that place where the crust is made from sourdough. From what I was told the vibe on Mission is totally different as it is a smaller place but with similar eclectic decor. MV has outdoor seating, live music at certain times and a kids play area. But then again...it's Marin - LOL. Pictured are the Yo Vinny and the sausage, mushroom and pepperoni pizza which I washed down with the Mexican bottle of coca cola. We arrived around 5:15 pm when the Catering Manager informed us that we were welcome to dine however, there was a private catered function that would be starting at 6:30. We had more than enough time and were not rushed at all. In summary, I am usually a Toto's Pasquale pizza guy and this was a nice change from what I am used to eating. The Catering Manager best summed it up as Pizza hacker is the type of pizza that given the smaller size of the pie is one where you would eat in where as the other two pizza places are ones where you would bring home and watch a movie or sporting event in the comfort of your home. 5 solid stars for my dining and eating experience here. read more

Solid thin crust pizza place. Ordered two pizzas online for pick up--the rocket man and yo vinny pizza. Both were delicious. The yo vinny was super flavorful with a strong tangy tomato and pepper taste. The rocket man was light and cheesy. The egg was oozy and added a nice creamy addition to the pizza. Arugula added freshness and was a nice compliment. The rocket man was my favorite of the two. Pickup was smooth and food was ready before estimated time. They do offer curbside pickup by texting them when u arrive but I don't recommend since there's a busy red bus zone right outside. Muni busses have cameras that will ticket u so best to try to find a legit place to stop/park if u can. Rather not risk a $100+ ticket to save some time. read more

Despite asking the manager twice about our order we just waited and watched other people who arrived after us get served. When we finally got our take away order we were very disappointed. This place is real! First the salads are awesome - a meal by themselves or big enough to share and not drowned by oil or too sweet dressings but just right how a salad should be! The sourdough crust on the pizza is excellent , crispy chewy and a little tang. No nonsense room like a beer garden!staff is super great and nice. PizzaHacker became one of our Pizza love affairs in SF... as you can see in my checkins. Generally you can get 2 pizzas feed to 3 adults. The pizzas travel fairly well also, so don't be afraid to get for takeaway. Yo Vinnie and rocket man are our picks. If they ever have the lamb sausage again, stop what you are doing and go ASAP. Their crust is sometimes more done, but always great for dipping (pro tip: buy a side of pizza sauce). The calabrian peppers really hit it home. Their lacinato kale cesar is INSANELY GOOD and you should always get it. If you are reading this, please send me your ceasar dressing recipe. I would be indebted eternally. Came here recently for a work outing to make sourdough pizza and had a blast! We were able to book a private event here for a team of 11 people. Cat was super friendly and knowledgeable. She was very supportive of all of our pizza making skills and walks you through each step very thoroughly, answering any questions. We were treated to some light appetizers upon arrival. Then immediately began feeding the starter dough. She takes you through all the necessary steps from maintaining the starter to feeding it to using it to make more pizza. My favorite part was making the crust! I kept thinking the dough would tear, but Cat reassured me that it wouldn't. Then next was the toppings! The toppings ranged from prosciutto to mushrooms to peppers. The pizza is immediately baked when you finish, and takes about 10 minutes or so. And then you get to enjoy your DIY pizza! At the end of the class, we were all provided with our own starters, and 2 balls of pizza-ready dough. Tucked away between Valencia and 29th, a narrow doorway and simple lettering on glass the only indication of what's inside, it is just prior to 5:00pm that guests begin to line up, a steady rain on this particular evening keeping numbers down early though the chalkboard waitlist had already started by six. Using a modified version of Tartine's Bread Dough, Krupman readily admitting Chad Robertson's impact on Pizzas dating back to his time cooking on the "Franken-Weber" it is seated at picnic tables inside an old bank that guests are invited to choose from eight Pies and two Salads, sub-$20 pricing for piping hot rounds featuring top-quality ingredients a veritable steal considering San Francisco's otherwise exorbitant prices. Opting for Wild Yeast and Whole Wheat as part of the formula, decisions that give Pizzahacker's Pies a heritage look and tangy notes not dissimilar from Sourdough, it is cut into triangles that Krupman's "Top Shelf" Margherita forms the basis of comparison to others, locally grown Tomatoes simply crushed and stewed with hand-torn Basil and flakes of Sea Salt that brighten fresh Mozz plus shavings of Grana to finish. Skipping a wood oven in favor of bricks, cook times longer but Dough more evenly baked from edge to center, it was looking seasonally that "Ohio" arrived next, the oblong cut of a Chicago Bar Pie an odd decision leaving one slice without any cornicione but the combination of Pepperoni, Provolone and Peperoncini all playing well off a medium-blister and lengthy fermentation that renders each bite light and crisp. read more

I like their bagels and schmear. I get the variety pack. They've recently made their online order system more ... dependable - there was a while it was non-functional for me. I had the gravlax, which has a fishier taste the normal smoked salmon but was still lovely, as well as their egg and cheese bagel sandwich and they were both great. 5 star pizza for sure. Personally its in the top 3 pizzerias for me (Behind 'Bianco' in Phoenix but before the place in Germany I grew up with and am nostalgia fond of) and for sure my favorite pizza in SF. The ambiance is way more casual than all the other good SF pizza places (Tony's, Flour + Water, Beretta, etc.) and there is almost never a line which is a huge bonus for me. Not really a fan of waiting 45 minutes before I can even order my pizza (looking at you here Tony's)! As for the style, stick with the classic neapolitan thin crust, I am not a huge fan of their square style pizzas. All that said, yeah solid 5 star pizza I could eat this like 3 times a week. We placed an online order last night for the meatballer and the rocket man. DELICIOUS! The meatballer is your traditional meatball pizza but you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the craft that goes into Pizzahacker creating their pizzas. The rocket man came with fresh rocket in a separate container (i.e. no wilted rocket by the time you get home!) with a spicy/vinegar-y dressing to drizzle on top with parm AND eggs on the pizza -- YUM! The pizza is delicious. It reminded me of a cross between Zero, Zero's and Ragazza's pizza. With oven temps over 600 degrees, the pies come out pretty quickly with crispy/crusty edges yet chewy interiors. We opted for the Short Bridge which is a meat lovers dream with mushrooms included just for the hell of it. It was enough for two people but, if we were really hungry then two pies would have been an even better option! Fort Point Kolsch was our beer of choice. The pizza menu is really small and there are a few choices for salads but, that's about it. This is a very casual place. ....very.....casual.....place... You're going for the pizza. Excellent to go pizza for dinner that really didn't suffer on the drive back to the place (although it was only 6 minutes!). A single pizza would be OK for 2 persons if you weren't super hungry, but we like a little leftovers for the next day. The sourdough crusts are excellent, a nice puff around the crust but still soft inside. Flavors on both were excellent. The egg on the Rocket Man made it. It was also great that they put the arugula in a separate box so it did not get all soggy on the way home. The only downside was that we found the chili paste for the Rocket Man buried under the arugula after we had finished eating - oh well, will have it for the leftovers. So I don't usually like pizza, I know, I'm a monster. Pizzeria Delfina was my first pizza love. And now Pizzahacker has solidified my love for pizzas. Sourdough crust? I mean COME. ON. How could we not love you? my favorite from Pizzahacker is Over The Top: tomato sauce, burrata, basil, olive oil, and grana padano (similar to parm). I LOVE simple pizzas like this. Jeff, aka, The Pizza Hacker, developed quite a devoted following after he custom made his own pizza oven from a weber grill, & started selling his amazing creations all over the city. For his enterprising qualities alone, you gotta give the guy mad props. In a very Cinderella story kind of way, he now has a full on restaurant in bernal heights. A very cool, urban, & casual restaurant in bernal heights. It's simple. There's a couple of salads, & about 6 pies to choose from. Mitchell's ice cream for dessert. Small batch wine & beer. That's all folks. And you know what? That's more than enough. When the pizza is this good & this strong, there's no need for ornamentation or distraction. The star product speaks for itself, & more than holds its own. We decided on "Get A Room." Spanish chorizo, onion, their (absolutely delicious) house tomato sauce, olives, fresh parmesano reggiano... It was dynamite. Crust? House sourdough thin. It was crisp throughout. Excellent. The hot sauce I added took it to an almost ethereal level. We had wine. Well, I did. He had beer. One of my favorite food groups with a twist. We started our dinner with the Intermezzo salad. The salad contained large leafy greens and a strong poppyseed dressing. I liked the idea of little gems and farm eggs but those were hard to find. Next we had the Crowd Pleaser which I was really excited about because of the prosciutto! When the pizza finally came, there was only prosciutto on one half of the pizza... We were slightly confused. After telling the waitress, they kindly put more prosciutto on the other half of the round! whoot! But sadly that was the only good part of the pizza. The bottom was mildly burnt and the greens made the entire bite taste completely bitter. Maybe we should've said something? But I assumed this is what the crowd is asking for. Can't complain about what we are being pleased with! Lastly we had the Heavy Nettle. I just wanted the lamb meatballs and the stracciatella (since I thought that it only came in an ice cream form). This time, the pizza was baked perfectly and the meatballs and other ingredients were a beautiful compliment to the thinly baked dough. I was super happy with this one.
