I have had their lunch special many times and I have been. Pleased with it. So... I decided to order two whole pizza pies to go. What a dissapoint that was! Both of them were terrible. They lacked flavor. The toppings were sparse. We had a couple of slices and ended up tossing the rest. Yeah! It was that bad. We paid quality pizza prices and got Little Ceasar quality. UGH! Food was decent , I order to go some items and I felt lt was pretty rush in a sense it took 15-20 minutes . I definitely recommend the burrata salad . Definitely not a fan of the cheesey garlic bread , has too much cheese and little flavor of garlic , needs different type of bread for this kind of appetizer. read more

When Flippin' Pizza closed, I was pretty sad. I was right inside their delivery border. That's a huge bonus for me since I refuse to use third party apps for delivery. I won't go into why...but I won't. Anyway, I saw PizzaBar in my yelp feed and finally had the opportunity to try it. I called in an order for two pies- one cheese and one pepperoni. Let's start on the pizza- it's REALLY good- probably the closest thing to NYC style pizza in North County. The sauce was delicious and the toppings were generous. Customer service was on point from the moment I called in to the moment the pizza was ready. Really friendly! So, why 4 stars...well, the price. Let's be honest. Two pies (and these weren't specialty pies with tons of meat or anything- one cheese and one pepperoni) was 43.10. Would I be back? First off, I wanna say that the pizza here is pretty good. With the limited selection that we ordered, I felt that the crust was cooked well, the toppings were nicely chopped and distributed, and the flavors were pretty spot on. I personally think other other spots like Flippin' or East Coast are better, but PizzaBar is more conveniently close by. Still, during the pandemic, when eating at a crowded restaurant was out of the question, I ended up learning how to make my own pizzas at home. With Costco nearby, making sauce and pizza dough is pretty cheap and Sprouts is there for any topping my kids can think of. This makes cooking up a Meat Lovers, BBQ Chicken, and Buffalo Chicken Pizzas a $12 night with enough food to feed this family of 5 dinner and two following lunches. Nowadays, we still like to go out for a few slices and a drink (East Coast Pizza still makes it better than mine, damn their ovens), but when sticking close to home in San Marcos, it was nice to see PizzaBar pop up down the street from us. When the night came to get a few pies, we decided to give this place a try. I ordered two large pizzas over the phone, they gave me a 25 minute pickup time, and my wife went to go grab them. When she arrived 20 minutes later, she got the requisite, "your food is almost ready", but it was soon followed by stares and discussions among the employees as they glanced back at her after they realized that they had only cooked one of our pizzas and forgot the other. This in of itself wasn't so bad, but they never told her what was happening, just had her sit there and wait another 25 minutes as they silently made the 2nd pizza. Needless to say, she came back rather pissy over it. Anyway, we started with their Buffalo Chicken Pizza. As noted before, the pizza itself was pretty tasty. The crust itself was a bit overly sweet, probably an extra tablespoon of sugar in the dough, but there's no shame in that. The toppings were still well cooked, everything was distributed well, with a perfect amount of buffalo and ranch laced across the top, it's an overall not too bad offering. The same went for the half Cheese and half Pepperoni and Sausage that we ordered. Not too bad, not better than other places we've tried. It was of good size and fed five hungry people with a few slices leftover for the next day. No one had any complaints, but no one is really itching to go back. All in all, I was fairly excited to come here when it first opened. Expectations weren't dashed, but nothing really stood out either. If I do get the chance to come back again, it likely won't be for a pie for the family. With the higher cost of a whole pizza here ($25 for a large compared to $20-$22 elsewhere), mixed with our first reactions, I think it may be safer to get a couple of slices to eat on the spot. Until then, with the prospect of slightly better pizza for cheaper down the street or something made at home, I'm left with just a 3-Star view of PizzaBar. read more

Not a huge fan of thin crust pizza, but I wouldn't mind grabbing a slice or 2 from here. The dough/crust isn't dry, which I find typical of thin crust. I've had the BBQ Chicken and Pesto Mushroom. Both were good and not over priced. Love the ambiance here as well. read more

Amazing beer selection on tap. They serve by the slice (but looks like you can also order whole pizza) similar to Bronx pizza in San Diego. We ordered the special 2 x 2 slices + a pint, and 2 x 2 slices and a soda, plus a salad. $70 out the door, including a $10 tip, and we brought home leftovers. Kids were happy, as we didn't have to haggle about what pizza to share. Everyone picked what they like, and with two hungry teens, it made for a low drama meal! I had a slice of meat lovers, slice of pesto, and a Societe the Pupil. Delicious, and an amazing deal for $13! Pizza is really good, nice crust, well seasoned. My wife had Margarita, a great test of any pizza restaurant, and noted that despite the tomato, it did not need salt. Someone is paying attention to the flavor and the salt across the various toppings. Well done! Staff is well trained. Sadly disappointed by our pepperoni pizza. It was over sauced, greasy, and floppy. We were hoping for a crunchier firmer crust. The kids took a few bites and didn't want any more. Pizza is very good, tried cheese pizza, Margherita and pepperoni. I would say the pepperoni and cheese are amazing and the crust is crispy and unique. I ordered a pie and 4 slices - $4 a slice is quite high and not worth it. I would get a pie instead but wanted to try them. When I place the order there were 2 young girls working at the front and one of them who is the owners daughter started to take the 4 slices and put them in the oven. I told her can you hold off until the pie is close to being started and cooked?? The other girl said oh we take it out and then leave it on the top of the oven so both of them seem to either do this on occasion or were winging it. So without coming back to me to fess up on their mistake they took them out and waited when the pie was done and didn't say anything to me. I think making sure whoever they put at the front is trained or coached properly. Can't imagine the others who had take out and went home to think ehhh it's ok pizza because heating it up ahead of the pie will make the slices dry and hard. Revised - As the owner replied back that it was his daughter so I guess this only happened to me, even though I paid $16 for 4 slices and yet the owner thinks i shouldn't say anything and that I should have perspective?? By the way, I have been to newly opened pizza places and they were spot on and had very nice and helpful staff. Don't understand how you as an owner thinks it's ok to reprimand his customers like I'm in the wrong for giving you feedback. Ok, I really want to give this place a 1 because the server lied to me, but I will try to rate it fairly. First off, the lie. I love fresh Jalapeños but i absolutely cannot eat pickled jalapeños. I saw they had jalapeños on their menu and ask the server if they used fresh jalapeños or if they were the ones from a can or jar. She said they were fresh. LIE. They were from a jar or can and ruined the pizza. I ate 1 slice and the rest of the $27 pizza went in the trash because that pickled juice permeates into the whole thing and I can't eat it. Now, for the somewhat fair judgement of the pizza. The sauce is not a fresh made sauce. It tastes like a heavier canned sauce. The dough is a bit dense and chewy for me. I prefer a lighter snappier crispier crust. It might have been better if it was not so undercooked. The cheese was good but not high quality mozzarella. The pepperoni was good. The pizza is a 2.5 out of 5 for me. Not the NY style I was hoping for. I also got a chocolate chip cookie which looked delicious. Unfortunately, it was not. I'm pretty sure that was the first CC cookie to ever reach my hands and not get finished. I ate 1/2 and tossed the other half. I have never done that before. If they are making them fresh, they should revisit their flour to sugar to butter ratio as it's off. Too much flour, in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and they have a nice selection of beer and some TVs to watch sports. Overall, the place would get a 2.5 or maybe a 3.0 from me. This is likely the only time I will ever go to this place. BTW, I got the pizza to go and normally would have went back to return it, but this place is 30 minutes from my house. First and foremost, they have happy hour everyday from 2:30-5pm and it's so worth it. I currently have braces so pizza can be hard to eat sometimes so I ordered the meatballs and burrata caprese and the total was UNDER $20. I also ordered a hard seltzer on tap and it is the perrrfect summer buzz: sweet and fruity. They service is also very helpful and kind. For how delicious the place was I was surprised it's not as a packed, but I am definitely returning MULTIPLE times with MORE people. We arrived at the Pizza Bar around 6:30 on a Tuesday. There were a few tables occupied. The atmosphere had a chill vibe... easy listening John Denver style music playing on the speakers and warm lighting throughout. It had a great industrial aesthetic that was quite comforting. There's a beer bar you can sit at with a happy hour that ended earlier in the evening along with plenty of booths and tables to choose from. We chose a plush and comfy booth. The menu is fairly straightforward with many staple items you would expect from a quality pizzeria. We had a slice of Buffalo Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Meat Lovers and Chicken Parmigiana. 2 slices and a drink special is $10. Individual slices are $4. We also ordered an 8 piece wing, $14, half buffalo and half mango habanero. Every single thing was absolutely delicious. The pizza was crispy with a nice delicate crunch as we bit into it. The chew was perfection. My favorite was the bbq chicken with the parmigiana coming in at a close second. My boyfriend preferred the chicken parmigiana overall. The wings, served with ranch and blue cheese along with carrot sticks, were crispy and tender. Both sauces were light but full of flavor. Our total came out a little under $35 and we brought home leftovers. Overall this place is quite amazing and if we lived closer we would surely be regulars here. Went in with my kids to order pizza and wings and was told 20 min. I sat with my kids for about 15 minutes and started to watch the pizzas come out of the oven. After 20 min I see a pizza that resembles mine a pepperoni come out and placed on top of the pizza oven. I figured maybe it was a phone in order so I waited patiently after 30 minutes I started looking at the guy that took my order some guy with a 70's mustache wearing a baseball hat. He doesn't make eye contact so after 35 minutes I go up and he says oh yeah it just came out and grabbed the pizza that resembled mine that was out 10-12 minutes earlier and the wings were sitting on the counter for 20 min. I tell him no this pizza had been out for a while. He hands me the pizza and I go home with a not so hot pizza. We get pizza every Friday and have got pizza here plenty of times.
