The beers were ok, some tasted like they had been on tap for a while. So I stuck with the darker stronger beers. The big Belgian beer was pretty good, as well as their stout. The place is also a homebrew shop which is a huge plus if you're looking for ingredients to brew your own. The bar area is in the front, with a nice bar to sit at. The homebrew shop is in the back. You don't get to scoop your own here, but if you give them your recipe they will do the work for you. Service at the bar was friendly. With the big downturn in home brewing and breweries in general I hope they can stay around. It is nice to have a local homebrew shop!

Very chill vibe here, everytime we come in it's pretty quiet with very few customers. The beers are decent, they have a spicy beer on tap, J's Carolina, that has a nice heat to it, my husband likes their dark beers a lot. They also have seltzers that I haven't tried yet, but will next time I stop by. It's located in an industrial part of Escondido, they have a small parking lot and there is plenty of street parking.

Beer was good! I appreciate the craftsmanship! Very down to earth place and low key would come

"More Fun Blonde" is a great tasting beer. It's got just the right kind of richness that I like. Not hoppy, but it's got a great taste and mouthfeel (if that's a word). Not sure how they do that.

Backyard Brewery is a great addition to the local craft beer scene here in Escondido. To be honest, the beers were a solid 3.5 to 4 for me....but they are just getting a stride in their brewing in this building and I am already hearing of some great additions to the tap list, so we will have to check the new brews out soon. I will say the English IPA was a stand out for me, a great twist that isnt as common as you would hope. But...that 4th or so star was pulled in by the bartender. Each time the bartender has done a great job of balancing the crowd and made sure I am never left thirsty. So cheers to that!

    Bar selections.

Nice brews. A real micro brewery. Not a tap house. Not sold anywhere but on site. Definitely small and funky. Did I say try the samplers.

I visited the Backyard Brewery and thought the beer was good. However, the place smelled like bleach, which was a turnoff.

The good: Great service from our server, lovely atmosphere, seated quickly on even on Mothers day. Salad and basil dressing were great. The crab cake was good. The unacceptable: The most important part of eggs benedict is the poached eggs, that means cooked whites, runny yolk. 2 of us ordered the dish, and of the 4 poached eggs, three were so overcooked, the yolks were hard boiled, crumbly and dry. I let the server know and asked that they just bring out new eggs, no need to remake the plate. over 15 minutes later, (so ow we had cold crab cakes) they dropped off a small plate with 4 genuinely undercooked poached eggs, they looked like soup. they were a literal puddle. The manager came by to ask if we had out eggs yet a couple moments before they were dropped off, we said no and he and said I'll take care of one of these for you. I don't expect free meals, and I rarely send food back, but this seemed pretty petty. Soupy eggs that took an extraordinarily long time (the restaurant was not at capacity at all). When I received the bill, there was a 15% discount on the eggs benedict. I get tight margins, but at least make the dish correctly please. The hollandaise sauce was good, the server very sweet and friendly (and of course we tipped him 20%, food is not his fault) but I doubt I would try this place again if that is how the rectify substandard meals. They did give me a lovely flower!

It was made just right :) the fried pickles were very sour. Reminds me of the del Mar fair food.. but no line or wait! Their brussel sprout elote was interesting, a bit dry. I would pass on this next time.

They have a good selection of beer, milkshakes, and drinks. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

Pros: This spot is a good place to hang out if you're looking for a casual bar with activities like billiards and darts. The vibe is fun without being overly packed, which made it easy to enjoy the space. They have darts (which are free, you just leave your ID), a pool table, and a music queue system where you can pick songs to play, which adds an interactive element to the night. I didn't try the food but the drinks were solid and did not disappoint. The overall energy of the place was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It's one of those spots where you can relax, hang out, and have a good time. Cons: Parking here is probably the biggest downside. The lot is really small and gets packed quickly, so I wouldn't recommend relying on it. We parked nearby after eating at Copper Kings Burgers and just walked over, which ended up being way easier. Verdict: If you're looking for a fun, chill bar in San Marcos with games, music, and good drinks, this is a great spot to check out. Just plan ahead for parking, but overall it's definitely worth it and I would come back again!
