This time we ordered the…read morebruschetta...it is not your normal bruschetta...it is an amazing combination of marscapone, peaches, honey, and a balsamic glaze on top of toasted ciabatta bread. For dinner I ordered the tri-tip sando. It was excellent but the chimichurri was a bit too strong so I wasn't able to taste much of anything else...the hubs liked it more than I did. The hubs ordered the Pig burger. Two patties...one beef and one pork with bacon jam, white cheddar and bread/butter pickles. The patties were cooked perfectly and the sweet bacon jam was a perfect addition (I'll be ordering this next visit) Both sandwiches came with thin sliced fries. We sat at the bar and Sean was again our server...very attentive and friendly!

The online descriptions appear to be heavily embellished (likely AI-generated), promising far more than what arrives at the table. The steak was noticeably low quality, and the cioppino, advertised with fresh bread, fish, and pasta, tasted like watered-down Campbell's soup concentrate. To make matters worse, the bathroom was filthy. While our waiter was genuinely nice, the food was a huge disappointment. For the price, it was frustrating and disheartening to pay premium rates for such a poor experience. We cannot recommend this place and will not be returning.

Pros: This spot is a good place to hang out if you're looking for a casual bar with activities like billiards and darts. The vibe is fun without being overly packed, which made it easy to enjoy the space. They have darts (which are free, you just leave your ID), a pool table, and a music queue system where you can pick songs to play, which adds an interactive element to the night. I didn't try the food but the drinks were solid and did not disappoint. The overall energy of the place was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It's one of those spots where you can relax, hang out, and have a good time. Cons: Parking here is probably the biggest downside. The lot is really small and gets packed quickly, so I wouldn't recommend relying on it. We parked nearby after eating at Copper Kings Burgers and just walked over, which ended up being way easier. Verdict: If you're looking for a fun, chill bar in San Marcos with games, music, and good drinks, this is a great spot to check out. Just plan ahead for parking, but overall it's definitely worth it and I would come back again!

But I can't tell if most people were just in the bar area - we were able to get a booth! The place was nice and loud since every one was having a good time. Several parties of 3+ and I saw 1 party of 6. They were doing an explorer menu from Yucatan. Interesting thing to do during Black History Month - I won't lie. I was surprised to see it. But we ordered from that menu. We ordered the fried plantain that came with a sauce and cilantro, sausage and pepper soup, and the BBQ pork. I enjoyed everything except for the plantain. They were basically a huge disc that was slightly crunchy. I was not expecting that since if I want a crunchy plantain, I will eat actual plantain chips. The soup was fantastic! It was a bit spicy but not overwhelming and full of flavor. Wish I ordered a bowl instead of a cup. And last but not least, the BBQ pork was very good. Served on lettuce as well, so if you are doing keto you can omit eating the tortillas that came with the dish. It also had pickled red onions and a salsa. The salsa was mild and with everything in the taco, flavors were balanced. We also ordered 6 Cajun wings. But today, they didn't seem as flavorful, a pity really. A grilled cheese was ordered but with hamburger meat inside. That seemed good and it came with fries. Washed all of this down with a sour that was called Boozy Berry & my fiancé had a West Coast beer. Food was enjoyable, atmosphere was fun. We will be back again.

They had the best servers who would stop by at the tables, give samples of their beers and chat a while about the beers and other things. Then, things got changed, and the vibe of the place became too corporate, the service became minimum, and we stopped going. Long story short, we went back last Friday night the first time in a long time. The vibe was back just like the old time with friendly severs and flowing beer samples. It was good to be back. They have a good selection of burgers. We had turkey burger and Ahi Tuna Sando. Ahi Tuna Sando was a gourmet burger with a good combination of flavors. Bitchin sauce was mild, not spicy, which I liked since everything these days became too spicy. The food was delicious. We were excited to see O.G. Amber Lagar on the beer menu as it seemed like an honest effort to re-visit Karl's lagar roots by re-making its original amber lager or Columbia Street Lagar which sadly was discontinued. Lagar is back these days, and Karl should bring Amber Lagar back as a regular beer. (Please!) More nuttiness, less hoppiness, and less carbonation.
