The fat, delicious Reuben sandwich at DZ Akins in San Diego at about the same price.
David N.

A great authentic menu and excellent alcohol options in a nice Irish pub ambiance, including live music even on weekdays. I had the Reuben sandwich and it was very delicious. But there wasn't much meat on it and the fries, which dwarf the sandwich, look golden and crispy but were mostly too soft. I'd ask for them to be lightly well done if I get anything with fries there again. Overall, the value is just not there. For $21.00 they could easily add a little more meat to the sandwich--like in the attached photo of a DZ Akins Reuben sandwich at about the same price. The O'Sullivan's meat is the pulled rather than sliced type, but the sliced I had is just as tasty and a bit more tender and juicy. A pint of Guiness, included in the bill with a customary 18% tip (just for pouring a pint), costs $12.40. So for a sandwich and two beers it was $50.00 not well spent.

dog friendly patio!

love this pub! the servers & bartenders are very friendly, they have a good variety on their menu for a cheeky pub lunch & the guinness is pretty tasty! I love the area because I can just stroll around after and visit all the little shops nearby. They also have a lot of events and live music!

Memorial Day had a lot of interesting side effects for us especially me dealing with fallen soldiers in my family. It was my second time at O'Sullivan's. The first time I had fish and chips and a Guinness. The food was excellent service top-notch. Memorial Day we went in feeling a little rowdy with emotions surging. We sat outback because we were a little rowdy we didn't want to bother anybody inside. Another table of a bunch of rowdy people next to us so we felt pretty comfortable out there. I was raised on Cottage pie and Shepherds pie! This day, I had shepherds pie one of my favorite meals and it did not disappoint. It reminded me of home growing up. Shepherds pie was so good it took me back home in my mind. The difference between the pies if you're Irish, Shepherds pie is traditionally with lamb. From the East Coast and lastly, the Bay Area, San Francisco. I spent a lot of time at Irish Pubs. I worked on Market Street. The salads were great this day. I had one complaint that was the "Irish coffee" I can't call it Irish coffee. A cup of coffee with some sort of Irish cream poured in. More like a cocktail. Service was great. Johnny Foleys is a great pub in SF but there are so many. When back home. I'll hit my familiar pubs. I looked for Soda Bread on their menu. They have brown bread but I prefer soda bread.

I've enjoyed going to this location over the years. They have delicious food (I love Shepards pie and Irish stew). The beers are always cold, and what you expect from a pub which makes me very happy. It can get a little busy when there is live music, but totally worth it. It has a great, authentic pub feel as well. There are a few seats out front where you can watch Grand Ave., and there is a patio outback as well. I've had really good luck with the service too. My food always comes out hot and the beer is not, so I take it as a win. For a good time with Irish fare and drinks, this is the place.

Oh man. The food was so good at this place. Service was good too, they weren't very busy so we got plenty of attention. Why low stars? Eh... the place is dingy, the bathroom was DIRTY and when I turned on the light in the RR a roach scurried away. The Great - The food was so good The Good - The drink prices were excellent! The Bad - The place is dingy which just makes it feel dirty The Ugly - The super dirty floors and walls in the restroom and the cockroach. I know that pests are a challenge for restaurants. Especially when you share walls with other tenants and are in an old building. BUT... although all of this, the floors and walls in the restroom can be cleaned with soap and water. There is no excuse. The roach only drove home the message. I really liked the food, but unfortunately, won't be back.

Great place and delicious food. Great pub. Came here on a chilly night and I was craving fish and chips and black and tan. Perfect

Horrible service. I was waiting for my burger for a whole hour while my whole party was eating. The burger came out unseasoned, dry as hell, and very over cooked. My party had many comments that the fries had no salt, the food had no seasoning, and the portions were small and lacking any kind of presentation. Drinks were ok but don't try the Irish coffee it was horrible. I would never go back here

Dropped in for food at a pub I know I had one beer only lol but it's good dive bar got there a little early dropped in last week for a couple beers as well both nights where chill and a wide range of alcohol and food and live music certain nights

This place has gone down hill bad. We used to go here each year for our wedding anniversary. But this year was a disappointment. We spent $84 for food that tasted really bad. I ordered the beef stew that says on the menu has chunks of beef. But no chunks just a plate of what looks like not so appetizing pile of smoosh food. I was even looking for potatoes and carrots but unfortunately there were at least 3 to 4 pieces and mind you this plate is $22. My husband ordered the boiled eggs wrapped in sausage but as you can see in the picture it just seems like one piece of boiled egg cut in 6 slices and deep fried with a tasteless batter. It was a Thursday and initially we asked for the September 4th a Thursday special which states on the website is only $9 for wings, quesadillas. We asked the rude bartender and she said it was only for happy hours then why would it say on your website that it's a special for a specific day and date? and we were there before 7pm which states there 4-7. Bottom line is she didn't follow What it shows on the website. She was really rude and my husbands beer glass was empty for 15 minutes 2X. She seems like very unhappy with what she was doing. She barely smiles and didn't even try to explain anything we asked. I asked her to recommend a sweeter taste Ale and her recommendations are just wrong. She was so short that she can barely see passed the bar table. Her hair was just clamp up all crazy. It's very unpleasant looking as a bartender. Her voice was so annoying that I told my husband let's just celebrate our anniversary at home. That food, place and bartender just ruined our day.

Came for lunch and entered thru the back patio. You walk thru their hallway to get to the front of the restaurant. We were able to sit right away and took a couple of minutes for someone to take our order. The service was fairly decent. We didn't wait long for our food and drinks. Curry fries were okay but burger was juicy. The place is small so I can see this place getting loud at full capacity. It's a nice pub for the area and would visit again. 3 1/2 stars but rounding to 4.

O'Sullivans is one of our go-to spots in Escondido when we want a drink and a great, hearty meal! The service is great even when they're busy, and it's got the Irish pub ambience you know and love. We especially love that we can bring our pup onto the front or back patio! Slainte!

The food and drinks are OK, but they do charge a service fee, so that's a "do not return" bell for me. So I will not be returning.

Consistently tasty food and friendly people. We're lucky to have so many great choices in Escondido, and these folks are among the best.

We were greeted and seated quickly, came on a Sunday around 8:30 pm…read more Our waiter was very knowledgeable with the menu, gave us suggestions that at first we thought were just him kinda talking the dishes up, but dang whoever is cooking in the kitchen knows what's up! lol They knew how to sear a steak better than most! and made some amazingly moist/juicy perfectly fried chicken! I promise you it's really that good, please try both. Our cocktails were PERFECTLY made. The staff was on it, I mean you can tell they work as a team. Different ppl checking on us (but not in an overbearing way) clearing plates, making sure the food was to our satisfaction. Always filling waters. Very friendly. I haven't had this good of a restaurant experience in years. Idk if we just got lucky or this is how it always is here since today was our first visit, but we will definitely be back and hopefully capture this magic again lol Ambiance was ok, the other patrons were a little loud but I expect that on a Sunday late at night. Decor was interesting and place has a cool lounge area. Big bar! :) Highly recommend this place! :)

We came here Labor Day weekend to celebrate my brother's birthday…read more My dad had called ahead to reserve a table since it was 6 adults and 2 toddlers. We were seated right away. We started with some appetizers - my favorite was the crispy brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Everything was perfectly roasted and there was a great kick with the habanero jam feta. The fly basket was pretty good, but keep in mind that the portion size is small - 3 of each of the hush puppies, fried shrimp, and fried green tomatoes. My husband ordered one of the specials which was a short rib pot pie - one of our favorite dishes of the night. The short rib was so tender and the dish was rich but in the perfect way. I ordered the tri tip sando. It was loaded up with meat and grilled peppers and onions. I upgraded my fries to truffle fries and those were really flavorful! My mom ordered the cioppino. She was a little disappointed by how many mussels there were in the dish - she had been hoping for more fish and shrimp. She said the flavor was good though. For dessert, we did opt to try the beignets. Honestly I could have done without them. They weren't as light and fluffy as they could've been. Overall, it was a good experience with great accommodations for our toddlers and great service.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, party of 10, celebrating 4 birthdays. We drove in from Riverside,…read moreMenifee, Wildomar and San Diego. It was the first time here for all of us. We ordered a few appetizers, and a variety of salads, entrees and pizza. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the pickle pizza, ordered on a cauliflower crust. It was so yummy with bursts of flavor and crunch in every bite. Gavin was our server, and he's the real deal. He knows his craft. He's personable, friendly, helpful, funny and efficient. He knew what we needed before we asked. Not sure if he's related to the owner? Regardless, he is a major asset to the restaurant. His service was even better than the food. (And the food was fabulous!) The food presentation was great, but apparently we ate it all too fast to get any photos. Oops. It's super hot out today, and our spot in the restaurant was a bit warm. The staff brought extra fans to cool us down. So thoughtful, and definitely going above and beyond! The place is pretty unassuming from the outside. It's not fancy, just looks like an old house. But give it a try and be blown away. All 10 of us were pretty impressed. Thank you Gavin for the excellent service, and hats off to the chef for the delicious meals.

Fallbrook is not a big town, but every town needs a place to get good pizza, salads, and burgers…read moreand 127 West Social House does that and more. We stopped in for a Sunday dinner, my son has celiacs so we needed a solid gluten free option and we found one, a pepperoni pizza on a cauliflower crust. Pizza was done every well and the crust had some crunch, but was very flavorful. My wife and I started with the Brussels sprouts, fried with bacon, cheese and balsamic, very tasty and huge for an appetizer. We followed that with a Fallbrook burger (avocado of course) and a Greek Salad. Burger was excellent and the fries were perfect. The Greek salad was nice, a little over dressed for me, but plenty of cheese and olives. The service was very good and the place has in door and out door seating. Definitely worth a stop, I am looking forward to trying some of the dinner options soon!
