I have a small Circle of Friends (CoF), that we've known each other for 25+ years. This weekend we got together to celebrate one of our birthdays. In the Valley View Casino, we dined at Patties and Pints. We ordered: APPETIZER: $18 - Firecracker Shrimp; ENTREES: $18 - Brandt Beef Burger (sweet potato fries); $30 - Glazed Salmon (veggies and roasted fingerling potatoes) $32 - Prime Rib (garlic mashed potatoes and veggies). DESSERT: $10 - Chocolate Cake ala Mode The food was amazing, but what made the evening EXTRA special was the superb service from Angelo. He was part of the celebration! He made good recommendations, and sang when he brought us chocolate cake for dessert that was unforgettable. We didn't have reservations and waited 45 minutes for our table. That was a lesson learned, we are making reservations for the next birthday in August. This was our first time at Valley View Casino and we stumbled into Patties & Pints after joining the buffet waiting list and realizing that the wait time was over an hour (to be clear, not a ding on the buffet at all. We would have waited and the buffet seems well worth it. We just know that in the future we will get on the list BEFORE we start playing vs after when we're starving). For starters, we were greeted and seated immediately by a wonderfully pleasant team. Our server, Paulina, was incredibly kind and attentive. Our orders were placed quickly and our apps took no time to make it to the table. Everything was hot when it arrived. We ordered: Beer-Brined Chicken Tenders - 10/10: AMAZING! The tenders have light breading, so its mostly meat without much batter, which is our preference. The buffalo sauce wasn't too spicy (for those who like buffalo flavor without an intense kick) and the Ranch and Blue Cheese were both really good. If you like blue cheese on the creamier side without a ton of crumbles then you will like this one. French Onion Soup - 7/10: REALLY GOOD FLAVOR! Would order again! I only gave it a 7/10 because the Swiss cheese was burnt in the middle, but the taste overall was still really good so it was easy to look past this. Rotisserie Prime Rib (Medium) - 10/10: I used to LOOOOOVE Longhorn Steakhouse's Prime Rib. It was one of the only places that I could get a solid prime rib with au jus and a well-seasoned outer crush without paying premium prices (e.g The Prime Rib). This was gooooood - great portion size with a tender texture at the right temperature. Not only was the steak cooked perfectly, but those may have been the BEST FREAKING MASHED POTATOES I'VE EVER HAD!!!!! They were so fluffy, creamy and buttery - literally perfect (to me). I don't ever order mashed potatoes, just not my thing, I prefer rice, but these? These are the one exception. I was super skeptical because other than not being a fan of mashed potatoes in general, I don't like horseradish and they were advertised as horseradish mashed potatoes. I am forever changed (when it comes to these specifically) - I even strongly considered ordering a side to go. Also, the asparagus was really good too! Cooked perfectly with a light crunch when you bite into it. Manhattan Deep Dish Pizza - 10/10: My husband ordered this and he was singing its praises the entire ride home! When it comes to pizza, my husband is picky - especially with crust. The crust HAS TO be right, and this one was that. The breading had a soft center with a crispy outer layer just the way he likes it. They also bring a mini spice rack with oregano, Parmesan and red pepper flakes and he was over the moon about that! It's such a big portion that two people can share it. He ended up taking the other half home and popped it right in the oven to have more as soon as we got home. And the cost! We paid less than $100 for our meal (one soda, two apps, and two entrees), and this was before we used the players club coupons*! Overall, we had a wonderful experience! Very spacious and clean with a staff that operates as a team (shoutout to Claudia who also helped us when we needed it). We didn't have any desserts or drinks this trip, but the menus for both look great! We had such a great time between the casino and dinner that we're already planning another trip back! *If you're a couple or a group visiting the casino for the first time, they offer a coupon for this restaurant when you receive your players card. We both were able to redeem our coupons ($10 each) and got $20 off our meal (which was already under $100 before the coupons). read more

Probably the best place to eat at VV. It's the most consistent in terms of wait times, service, and quality of food. Everything on the menu tastes great - we always get 3-4 appetizers, a pizza, burger, and salad. Orders have never been messed up and they actually listen when you ask for substitutions if you don't want something. The only reason it's not a five stars rating is because it's right next to the smoking areas and that's unpleasant to smell while eating. 3 stars (or whatever fits your vibe--solid but not standout) Honestly, I probably wouldn't drive all the way out here just to eat at Patties & Pints. It's tucked inside Valley View Casino, about 45 minutes north of central San Diego, so unless you're already gambling, staying overnight, or in the area, it's not a destination spot. There are plenty of better standalone burger joints or pubs closer to home. That said, the food is good--nothing mind-blowing or worth raving about, but reliably solid for casino pub fare. We went with burgers from their signature all-beef blend, and they hit the spot without any major complaints. The deep-dish pizzas, wings, fries, and other apps seem consistent based on what I've seen around. Portions are decent, and it's satisfying if you're craving something hearty with a beer. Our server, Marcus, was decent too--just did his job without going above and beyond. Attentive enough, no issues, but nothing exceptional either. One thing that really bugged me: they automatically add a tip (auto-gratuity) even for a two-person table. That's ridiculous in my book. It feels like it removes any incentive for better service and just assumes mediocrity is fine. For small parties in a casual spot like this, it comes off as greedy. The place itself is clean and well-organized, which is a nice change from some casino spots. But it's pretty small for a casino restaurant, so it can feel cramped. Seating/waiting is poorly managed--wait times drag on, and the system for calling names or seating people isn't smooth at all. Bottom line: If you're already at Valley View Casino, hungry, and don't feel like dealing with the buffet line (or want something quicker and more casual with beers and TVs for games), Patties & Pints is a fine option. The Prime Rib here is legit and one of the best we've had even when compared to actual steak house restaurants. Super juicy, tender, cooked to the right texture & temperature with a good sear! Very generous portion for a hungry diner and for such a cheap price. The Ribeye was also decent and perfectly grilled but the portion size is smaller (maybe around 75% of the prime rib in terms of thickness and size). Will definitely get 2 Prime Ribs instead the next time we visit. If you're a meat lover, make sure to try the Prime Rib out when you visit! If you're new to the casino, make sure to sign-up as a new member to get a free $10 dining credit that you can use for your meal. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a long wait to be seated which seems to be typical from what I've read. We didn't mind too much, just played some more while we waited. Our server was lovely and took good care of us. The food seemed to take a very long time to arrive. We all got sandwiches with a side and felt the price was fair. My bread was a bit over grilled but it was tasty. My family all enjoyed theirs. One of our favorite places to eat. Actually, all the restaurants at Valley View are fantastic. Great food options that are typically well served and tasty. We do however have our preferred or favorite servers, food runners and hosts. We prefer and LOVE Monica. Her energy, intelligence, and smile are top notch. Andres a food runner has been there a long time who also has a great personality, and one of the few runners who actually remembers to bring you a requested item. These individuals we've known a long time, and believe they would be better suited as trainers, supervisors or even management. I'd include Tomas in our Patties favorites, but he was moved to Black and Blue Steak House. Another favorite restaurant at Valley View. We're also fans of Michael, and a few others I can't remember their names at the moment, especially an extremely likable, smaller statured food runner who was made a server a few months ago. Having been in management in the plumbing industry I know how important training in one's daily tasks and people skills is to a quality business like Valley View Casino, the only casino we frequent. Unfortunately, bad experiences happen even in the best of establishments. Last night at Patties we had a new server who seemed so serious, barely a smile. Which is fine. I don't mind that so much. Definitely not enduring or memorable though. She did her job well, and even checked to make sure our food tastes good, and if we had all we needed. My main issue came when we got our bill, and I asked her to adjust the tip. I realize how cheap that sounds, but let me continue. When we first were ordering we mentioned we had a lot of food we wanted to take home. It was the end of the month, and we had over a hundred dollars worth of food vouchers we needed to use up. We normally don't have any left over. She excitedly, almost smiling encouraged us to order our takeout right away with her, "otherwise we would have a long wait, if we didn't put our order in right away." We spent just under $60.00 for our sit down meal. Our normal 20% would've been $12.00 on the $60.00. Our to go order was just under $100.00, which I felt definitely deserved a tip, but not the 20% suggested gratuity that the bill included. Maybe we were being cheap. I don't know. The obvious anger on her face when I asked her to adjust the tip was palpable. I asked her to adjust the $32.00, "Suggested Gratuity," to $20.00, which I would've been grateful for the years of being a food server in college. She got 20% for our dining in, and about 10% for our to go order. Not so cheap after all. When she returned with the revised bill, she was so mad she could barely talk. Poor thing. Felt kind of bad for her. She muttered a couple of times I could barely hear her, but kept asking what she said. The third time she said clearer that we shouldn't order to go food with her, that we should go to the to go window next time. She should've been happy for the 20% on the meal, and 10% on the to go order. It all adds up over the shift. We definitely will avoid her at all costs. Okay so outside of eating at a restaurant located in a Casino, your mood kinda depends on whether you're winning or losing...so I usually like to eat before gambling so my food isn't influenced by my gambling lol. But...there was some hiccups in the beginning and it was settled by both the manager and this wonderful sous chef by the name of Christian. He explained how the grills need to be cleaned prior to cooking the vegan food in order to avoid co-contamination. I can appreciate that so much! Being vegan is difficult when dining out when the menu offers both vegan and non vegan foods. Because we cannot see what goes on behind the scenes, it's hard to determine just how conscious the cooks are with handling our vegan order. I am grateful to know that this place takes extra precautions to ensure that our vegan food is properly prepared separately from other meat products. Thank you! It doesn't open till 4:00 p.m. but has the most amazing French onion soup I've ever had, and the ribeye steak dinner is out of this world if you find yourself at Valley View Casino check it out you will enjoy. Patties and pints is a great place to eat at if you are in Valley Center. There is a nice bar and TVs all around if you are trying to catch a sport game. The staff is terrific and the food is pretty good (especially the chicken wings), however, for a buger place there are not a lot of burger choices. I got the Philly because I didn't find a burger that peaked my interest. Overall, I recommend thos place and will definately be going back. read more

I came here for dinner last night with my family. Our server Monica was great. She really seemed like she enjoyed working there and had a great attitude. Food was great. We come here often and always get great service. Even the manager came to check on us. Always a plus. The only thing I would say is there is a server there who has a horrible attitude, dresses sloppy and looks like he is miserable the entire time we were dining last night. His shirt was half tucked in with a grumpy frown all night. I work in the industry so I know how it can get sometimes, I suggest he take his frustrations out on the back of the house. Yeah, a good spot. The wife was craving prime rib and they were one-of-two available this Sunday eve. Parking was a swift walk in when using the tower's elevator entrance. We were able to immediately sit at the bar in a quickly turned over pair of chairs. Our drinks were cheap and the order came out rather swiftly that also included an impressive burger, stacked very high (it got a lot of looks), and cooked perfectly medium. The prime rib was good enough for satisfying the need, but a little less than tender to the fork. I ordered mostly on the to-go side that's located to the right of the restaurant. I like that this place has a beeper to tell us when our food is ready. I ordered the Bronx pizza which came with sopressata, Italian sausage, red onion, marinara sauce, fontina, mozarella, and provolone cheese. It was very doughy, I thought it would be thin crust but it's a thicker Chicago style pizza. It was ok. Their Philly cheese steak, I would not buy again. It was very dry. It was Mother's Day evening and because we couldn't get a table for 1.5 hours we decided to sit at the bar and that was a fun atmosphere. The servers and bartenders were nothing but very pleasant, hard-working and on top of of it!! They took our drink order right away and our food order as soon as our drinks came....even though they were EXTREMELY busy. They were all very pleasant and fun natured. There's always great service here. The food is amazing. Although today is my first time trying the Nashville chicken sandwich, I wasn't so pleased with it. Everytime I stay at Harrahs casino I go here for dinner since it's so close. The atmosphere is laid back, its clean and the food is good. They do have a bar in front of the restaurant and they always have whatever game that's on that day. Plenty of T.V's to watch on through the restaurant. They do open at 4 pm everyday so plain ahead because they can get busy. My husband and I just ate here a few days ago and we had nachos, salad and pizza. Everything was delicious! I ordered a Oreo shake to go and man, it was so tasty! We enjoy ourselves when we come! I would have given it 5 stars if they opened up earlier to have breakfast or lunch options. Don't let the start fool you, this is a very respectable option for dining in a casino in San Diego. Especially if you compare it to other options in the area. I've been here many times and never had an issue other than sometimes it takes a little long and I can't eat that much food. The food is delicious, hot and big. The shakes are so good it's hard to avoid them but be warned, if you aren't a big eater, you will have a lot to take home with you. I say keep up the good work and I'll see you all soon. read more
