I'm so bummed. Our first time ordering here since we just moved 5min away. I showed early so I could wait for my food to make sure I got it hot. We got a 14" Margarita Pizza, 6pc wing, cheese sticks, & a Spicy Italian Sandwich. The margarita Pizza was cold, ricotta not cooked, basil brown and not because of the oven. The basil had no scent which tells me it was on its last leg. The cheese sticks were grabbed from their display case and was cold and felt like it was there all day. The sandwich didn't have much flavor. My husband had 4 bites and was done. I had one slice of my Margarita and was done. 3 bites of cheese stick and was done and the Hubby & I each had one wing and we were done. For how expensive it is, we thought it would be amazing. We paid 65 for the food & tip and we threw out 90% of it. Super sad and super hungry still We love food and this is the first time we have ever thrown out food. I was super fortunate to live in San Marcos and stumbled upon probably the best pizza in North County. I love the OG spots, but this place is a must. I don't ever get five stars but this absolutely murders any specialty and or King author Special out there. Come get it Owners are amazing and the staff is killer. $8 dollars to use my credit card?!? No way. I have been going to Blackstone Pizza for the past 4 years. This was my last visit. I place an order for the carry out special. It's either a cheese or pepperoni for $9.99. It was $8.99 a for years but I guess they recently increased the price. I show up and they told me it was $10.74. Then the lady that seemed to be in charge told the new guy that was ringing me up that the special is cash only. I have been getting these pizzas for YEARS and I have never paid cash and have never had an issue. I don't carry cash (I'm married) so I said I don't have cash. She said we would have to up-charge you. I'm like okay, how much? She said it would be $18.54. First of all, a businesses cannot charge more for using a debit card in the United States. The Durbin Amendment of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act prohibits surcharging for debit card transactions, including prepaid cards. This means that even if a debit card is processed as a credit transaction, a surcharge cannot be implemented. Second of all even if they charged me a surcharge for their cost, 2.5% would be $.27 cents. They wanted $8 dollars!!!! So I politely declined and left. I'm going to miss the pizza here but there are lots of other pizza places in San Marcos and Escondido that will gladly take my money; plastic or paper. read more

An updated review is in order for Blackstone Pizza. My usual go-to pizza joint closed due to COVID and I had to find a new regular place. I like Killer Pizza from Mars, but it's a tad expensive to become my regular pizza joint. Fast forward to a Friday night when this mom was bone tired of EVERYTHING (working, cooking, distance learning...all that!) and I remembered Blackstone Pizza. They aren't far from my house..so I decided to give it a go. Their take out special of one large cheese or pepperoni pizza (no limit!) for 7.99 has become our go-to order. I always get two, one cheese/one pepperoni. There's usually a few slices left over for the next day. The pizza is good enough for this self-proclaimed pizza snob. I've also tried their garlic knots. Those are really good! A few things to note- for this deal, it's advised you pay in cash otherwise there is a small service charge. I think they deliver through a third party app so I always pick up. Businesses are hurting....no need for them to lose even more money! Solid fan of this place! We'll be back! read more

Hey Blackstone! Love your food, even your staff has an edgy hospitality vibe that comes off as "we gotchu". Only downfall of your business is your front of house. You had 2-3 pieces of old equipment (ice machine bin, perhaps an old undercount refrigeration unit) just sitting scattered through your dining room. There was a late night football game on, none of your TVs were on. Would've enjoyed watching the game and having a beer while I waited for food. Another odd thing was a curtain separating the restroom area to assuming a back of house area? Perhaps you are wanting to focus only on delivery and pick up at your establishment, but see a lot of potential if you cleaned up your FOH. Also - odd that one of your workers was folding boxes in the FOH? And storage of those take out boxes were scattered all over? As mentioned your food is delicious! So won't stop coming, but would love to bring my family or friends just to enjoy a nice night out. read more

No. Just, no. I don't know what has happened recently but my last two orders from Blackstone have been atrocious. I thought perhaps since I've had such good food from them for so long my lousy-assed pizza a month ago was just a fluke. I was wrong; it's a trend. This evening I ordered a cheese pizza, wings, and garlic knots. I live very close, and always pick up my order, so I was quoted a time of 25 minutes. I arrived exactly 25 minutes after hanging up the phone, and told it would be a few more minutes on my order. 20 minutes more waiting (so 45 minutes total time), and I'm out the door. Once home I realized my pizza is cold: Thus it must have been sitting on the counter waiting for the rest of my order to be done. For the record I'm a chef, and have been cooking professionally for 30 years, so I know when and how and why things go wrong in a kitchen. Adding to this sadness, the wings are bone dry-I'm talking over cooked and ZERO SAUCE-and the garlic knots are bone white, doughy, and inedible. Seriously, I would not feed any of this "food-in-name-only" to my worst enemy's dog! Everything went in the trash and I'm so sad I wasted nearly $30 on a dinner that was not fit to eat. I had the meat lovers pizza and it was delicious. I prefer my crust to be better done, but that is minor and I will remember on the next order. They use a lot of oil and I had to mop it up with a napkin. The prices appear reasonable based on the current inflation. They only have bottled beer, but decent ones. I ate at the restaurant, but it didn't appear very clean. Mainly just not the look I prefer. I didn't see any critters. Several people were ordering so I guess regulars like the place. I heard a delivery order was taking 1.5 hours. Again, a good sign of regulars. I will try again (I see they sell by the slice). We always try to order local when we can, and this place is our fave pizza joint by our house! Their dough is so good I actually eat their crust (which I rarely do because it's a waste of space for me unless there's cheese on it!). We usually get the Colorblind and one of their other specialty pizzas. We've had their The 84 (yummm!), buffalo chicken (delish!), Da Island Style (awesome twist on hawaiian with spam), and The Grizz. Their wings are also perfectly crunchy.
