Quite possibly the pizza in Miami - they have a Hawaiian pizza with two types of pineapple! My absolute favorite. Great value, a single slice ca be enough for one person. And don't sleep on their wings, especially the honey garlic which is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. So happy to hear that although their home base Gramps will be permanently shuttered, Pizza Tropical will live on in a new location soon! read more

This is a local spot inside an otherwise bustling touristic area. It's large with plenty of seating. The pizza was decent, I'm from Connecticut so I'm not easily impressed by pizza. but the garlic knots!!! Sooo good. My husband is usually the garlic knot lover. I take it or leave it, but these were sooo moist & full of garlic flavor. The bread was not dried out but it had a bounce to it. It has a nice crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I discovered this place thanks to Cycle Party Miami and I decided to buy a slice of pizza because each slice costed less than $5 (with the exception of El Vegano). [Parking]: It will not be easy to find street parking spots in this busy part of the neighborhood called Wynwood, but if you do end up finding a spot then you'll have to pay via PayByPhone app. Otherwise nearby overpriced parking garages are always available. [Menu]: 8 different pizza options from El Queso (mozzarella), El Peppe (pepperoni), Abuelita's (cheese slice with thicker crust - square), La Blanca (tres quesos), La Hawaiiana (pineapple and pepperoni), El Mushroomo (mushroom), El Vegano (no meat), and La Salchicha (sausage). Ok so I went to this spot cause I'm from New York and a lot of comparisons to nyc pizza are being tossed around here. We don't really have a Hawaiian situation in nyc But the plain cheese was it. What a great place! you can listen to live music, grab some drinks, and order a pizza all at the same time! We decided to grab some pizza from here one evening and we are so glad we did! Luckily there wasn't a line and we were able to place our order very quickly. We decided to get a half pepperoni and half mushroom pizza. Then we went over to the bar and grab some drinks. While we were waiting a rock band started to play so we were entertained while we waited. The live music was really good! Before we knew it we got a text saying that our pizza was ready. It was excellent! I always forget how great it is to have pizza at a restaurant instead of getting it delivered at home. The crust was the perfect amount of chewiness and crispiness that I want in a pizza. The toppings were plentiful and they put huge leaves of basil on top. I could easily eat half of this pie but I held back lol. Definitely check it out next time you're in Wynwood! read more

We felt like having pizza while strolling around the neighborhood and checked out the infatuation for suggestions - they say this is one of the best pizzas in the whole city. Pizza Tropical is a little hard to find; there is only a small sign at the entrance to the courtyard. They offer a limited variety of pizzas and snacks such as chicken wings. We got a slice of cheese and pepperoni pizza and some garlic knot. I'm not joking when I say that was some of the best pizza I've had in the US - the most perfect New York slice. The garlic knots were unique in that they were served dipped in olive oil and topped with shredded garlic. The overall ambiance is very relaxing; there is a stage for a band and a bar associated with the location. There's really not much to say about this spot but that it's outside in the patio area of Gramps. They really do have the best NY style pizza in Miami. You can buy by the slice of a whole pizza. I find myself craving this pizza even when I'm sober and not downing a million Tecate & Tequilas. You could never go wrong with a classic slice of pepperoni, it kind of reminds me of the pizza in NY. Perfect for folding, perfect amount of grease, but the crust is sturdy and chewy enough to sop it all up. The sauce of the tomato is super flavorful and balances great with the hearty pepperoni. Another favorite of mine is the Abuelita slice, which is like a Detroit style pizza, thicker crust, the bread has a buttery flavor to it. Sometimes I get this if I'm really in the mood to get carby with it. The prices are unbeatable for the quality of pizza they serve here. The pizza was pretty good and the decorations were fun! Although it is completely outdoors, the seating area is covered by shade and there are large fans blowing. My biggest complaint is the wait. We ordered our pizza a little after noon (an hour after Pizza Tropical opens), and we were the only customers. We were told that our pizza would take 10 minutes which is understandable because they had to make a fresh pie for us since no one was there. Unfortunately, it took more like 20 minutes to get our 3 slices of pizza. Also, we asked for water when we ordered our pizza. We were told that they normally have water, but it wasn't set up yet. I'm not sure why it wasn't set up "yet," when the restaurant had opened over an hour ago at this point. Awesome little pizza stand inside a bar... yes, that's right, it's right inside of Gramps. We found this spot by mistake. We went to Gramps to catch the end of happy hour and after we grabbed our drinks we went outside to sit out on the patio. There it was, the Pizza Tropical stand sitting right there... and what happens when you casually pass a pizza stand. Well you guessed it, you buy yourself a slice of pizza! We kept it simple and went for classic pepperoni. A few moments later two HUGE slices came out on paper plates and we wasted no time. We didn't even get a picture (sorry guys), that's how quick we put those slices down. Not much else to say here.... it's just a really good slice of pizza. The pizza here is some of the best pizza I've had in Miami. It's New York style. Thinner crust and lots of grease! It's a nice chill spot inside you can grab a beer from gramps. They give you a pager so you know when your pizza is ready. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating (inside gramps) they have music playing and a bar outside (was not open when we went at 3pm). Highly recommend for quick, cheap, and delicious pizza. read more

L.O.V.E. This place. You can get HUGE slices for cheap, they do sell whole pizzas though. Both options are customizable.. Every time I have been they have had live music; their inside a pretty cool bar/patio complete with a stage! While hanging out at Gramps on Saturday evening decided to grab a slice of pizza from Pizza Tropical. I just ordered one slice of the La Blanca pizza. Quality Now putting a pizza place inside of a bar is just about the smartest thing you can do. There is nothing that goes well with a cold beer quite like a slice of pizza. And while Pizza Tropical may not compete with the best pizza joints across South Florida, it still serves up a very solid slice. I ordered the La Blanca pizza, which is covered in caramelized onions, dollops of tres quesos, and parsley, then has toasted sesame seeds thrown on the crust. It is definitely a fun pizza and when you get a bite with both the caramelized onions and tres quesos it is close to greatness. It is a very crispy slice with good texture, until you get to the very end. The crust itself was just not good. First, I do not like the addition of sesame seeds, they just are not needed at all on the pizza. Second, while I enjoy the crunch under the slice, there should be some softness inside the ends. It was more like eating a large pretzel stick, which is not what I expected or wanted. Quantity The slice is a little larger than the size of a paper plate. This is not a massive slice like your beer filled stomach may want, but it still get the job done. Value When you have a pizza place inside of a bar the market has already been cornered. Therefore, the $3.75 price tag for a plain slice and the $4.50 for my signature slice are not too surprising. High, yes, but it is the convenience that you are paying for. Ambiance Pizza Tropical is little more than a window stand within Gramps bar in Wynwood. Under the awning in the outdoor area you will find a small red and yellow shack. You order at the window and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your slice is ready. The menu is small, but it is all you need when you are enjoying a drink. It is also super convenient when hanging out at Gramps for a show or musical act and you don't want to leave yet are still hungry. Crowd When Gramps is busy so is Tropical Pizza. I can't really imagine people seeking out the pizza when they aren't also visiting the bar, but maybe locals do to take advantage of the lunch specials. Service I put in my order and the cashier immediately headed to the back to help with the preparation. It took about five minutes to be warmed up and ready to go. Not too shabby, though I would expect much greater delay late night. Parking The area directly around Gramps and therefore Pizza Tropical is always busy, so street parking can be a hassle. I recommend parking a block or so away, either south or east, to avoid the traffic and pedestrians. Extra Tropical Pizza may not knock your socks off when sober, but it is exactly what you dream of a few beers in. The La Blanca pizza is a good choice except for the crust, which I just don't understand. On a return visit I would definitely give a different flavor a try. read more
