This is one of my favourite places in Dublin to eat pizza, or even to eat Italian. It's a really authentic Italian - Italian waiters, owned by and Italian and it almost feels like you're in Lake Garda or somewhere. They're bruschetta is delicious and I can never resist the Isabella Rossellini or Show pizza, it's delicious. Really thin base, which I love. It's quite cheap too - the pizzas are around €11 and the pasta dishes are around €10. There are 10 different pasta dishes to choose form, so between the pizza, pasta and main courses, you are pretty spoilt for choice! This place is easily missed though - it's down the lane directly opposite Steps of Rome. read more

What an amazing Italian experience! Just a short walk off the exceptionally busy Grafton Street, tucked away down a quiet lane it seemed as if it's one of Dublins hidden gems and we were in for a treat! We were greeted at the door by a lovely real Italian hostess who immediately made us feel like we were dining in Italy! What made him even more great was that he had spent a lot of time in Italy doing Wine tasting classes which of course to our delight meant we would be guaranteed a quality bottle of white wine with our meal. And we did! For my meal I decided to skip starters and get straight in to the main course. With so many dishes and specials (the specials are showcased on a table in the middle of the restaurant which I thought was a very old traditional touch and it's nice to have an idea what the specials look like) to choose from I was thorn between pizza and pasta but settled on the Stop pizza, my sister had ordered the Tagliatelle Salmone. The pizza had a thin base with I love and the sauce was just perfecto! The pizza and wine were both on point and we were delighted with our choice of the many Italian restaurants available in Dublin. Highly recommend this restaurant, it has a real Italian feel to it with a friendly, cozy and personable service and of course great food! I'll definitely be back!! read more

Love it! The only words I can say about it. Tucked away on Chatham Lane, it is never the first idea that springs to mind when you think off an Italian restaurant in Dublin. My favourite is the Napoletana, dough cooked thin with a hint of crispiness and a base topping of oregano scented tomato paste and mozarella and then the real deal, capers and anchovies. Pizzas are good albeit a bit heavy handed on the flour. Decor is kitchy and cosy! Staff are bit scattered and service is a bit hit and miss. Price is about std: for 2 12 inch pizzas and half caraffe of house white the bill came to 39.27. Don't get me wrong I like the place but I did find the management a bit surly. There are times when only a pepperoni pizza with chips on the side and a bottle of house plonk will do. Pizza Stop is tucked away down an alleyway near the Westbury Hotel, just off Grafton St. By my reckoning it's been here about 30 years and it's a good 15 of those since I was here last. Same decor, same tables and chairs (I'm sure I saw my name carved into one of them dated 1989!!) and same excellent dependable pizza. Chips were great, company even better. Unfussy and unpretentious I can't for the life of me account for the 15 year gap. Hands down the best pizza in Dublin. It's a shame that the manager or owner here isn't the nicest. I was told to come here by my boyfriend's old boss who used to work here and had been a professional waiter for years. He booked me and my boyfriend a table and told us that if we used his name, we would get the special treatment. But instead, we got hastily ushered to our table and someone shoved a menu into our hands. It was pretty aggressive. Apart from the less-than perfect welcome, the rest of the night went well. It's hard to be grumpy when you have a beautiful cheese pie in front of you. I recommend the pizza with anchovies and a bottle of red wine. The food alone makes this place a winner. read more

So. This was a weird experience. My husband wanted pizza. No problem. Was slightly difficult on a Sunday night but we managed it. Place was cute. Pizza was thin and delicious. Checkered tablecloths, Italian staff, bustling with people - Pizza Stop is a pretty good Italian restuarant. It's a favourite with lots of my friends. As you'd guess from the name, it's speciality is pizza and they're very good. They're great value too, with the most expensive coming in at about €12. If you want to travel back to 1982 visit this pizza restaurant. I don't believe the décor or menu has changed in all that time, and why would it? It's got the perfect kitschy Italian appeal. Italian and Italian American tracks played on the stereo, red and white check table cloths, candles in chianti bottles and the name! I first read about this place in a Come Here to Me article*, apparently it's the oldest operational pizza place. I was intrigued so I ventured out one freezing cold Tuesday evening with my boyfriend. I had gotten the Ravioli and it was very good. Would definitely recommend. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals as well. My ravioli was a little undercooked but nonetheless a great dish. However, the service wasn't the best. Our waitress had us wait about 15 minutes before even speaking with us. And during that time didn't come to our table except for the paycheck and tip. I enjoyed a tasty Monday night dinner here with my beau We both ate the steak dinner special and shared the antipasto as a starter. Everything was served in a timely manner, prepared appropriately, and tasty to every satisfaction! Weekly specials advertised (pizza, chicken, and steak main dishes) or the regular menu is in full swing as you might prefer. We both took the recommendation from the chef to try his steak with a white wine cream sauce. The steak was then topped with mushrooms and lemon. Yum! The main dishes are served with a choice of chips, salad, or pasta. Being in an Italian restaurant, I just couldn't turn down the pasta. I also love carbs- no shame! The pasta and tomato sauce were just enough to satiate my caving without leaving me too over stuffed. I thought my steak was cooked to perfection (med rare) and the sauce was to die for. I would've licked my plate clean, but I do put forth lady-like manners in public. :) I saw several good-looking pizzas go around the restaurant and the fresh Italian aromas filled the restaurant all night. One thing that i did not like is that the place is abit small and its not that comfortable to move. But why not trying you may like the place, its more of the old restaurants in Milano. The pizzas are a little taste of heaven and over the many years and many, many occasions I've happily pigged out here, it has remained consistently great. I love this restaurant, and have been a regular there for many years. The pizzas are superb, and they have no problem modifying them to suit your particular taste (extra black olives, please). But what's really great, is the laid back atmosphere - you never feel that you've overstayed your welcome. The staff are attentive and discrete. I salute them. Very mixed opinion here. We sat down and ordered pizzas at this seemingly quaint little pizza place in an alley in a shopping district. Only then do we notice the a small fruit fly? Or related critter flying around us. We watch it land in the table next to us and see 4-5 other little guys crawling around the table. Pretty gross. But we have ordered so we stick it out. The pizzas come very quickly and were delicious. However the fact that I need to keep an eye on the table next to me for an attack, or ask my wife to wave her hand around her head because someone is circling for a landing, really takes away from the experience. It's tough to know how many stars to penalize them for flies when everything else was great. The right answer of course is to get their pizza carry out if you can. Meanwhile people at the restaurant, get ride of the flies because they ruin an otherwise great restaurant. read more

This is the perfect restaurant for a nice, quiet meal with your partner/friends. It is has a real italian authentic feel about it, with dimmed lights, candles on the tables and red and white checked table cloths. The pizzas are really tasty too! The food was alright, nothing spectacular but the 2 stars is for the service. We came in by the recommendation of a local bartender because he said at that time of night, the bars were done serving food and this place was open (it was around 9:30). The cook couldn't hide his disdain at us walking through the door and a dishwasher came out of the back and made a rude remark in our direction as we were being served our food. We had to ask for drinks, nobody checked on us, and it felt like they were just waiting for us to leave. It was very uncomfortable. We assumed they were closing and were disappointed we came in but there aren't any hours posted and according to Yelp they're open until midnight. They even seated a couple as we were walking out so I'm not sure what the problem was. read more
