Take away anto pasto
Daire S.

My girlfriend had been trying to get me to go here all Summer. I'm not the biggest fan of Italian food (the pasta side of things, not the pizza. What kind of weirdo doesn't like pizza?). I finally relented and we made the trek all the way out to North Strand and I only wish I had done it sooner. This place is absolutely amazing. The restaurant is tiny; it could probably only seat about 12 or 15 people in total. It is nice and cozy but still well laid out enough so you don't feel like you are on top of your fellow diners. We were seated promptly, given menus and water by a friendly waitress. We ordered a small antipasto plate each, with a mushroom bruschetta and some garlic bread on the side. We were brought boards that had so much food crammed onto them it was probably unfair to describe them as "small". Cured Italian meats, olives, roasted vegetables, arancini and many more things. My girlfriend, who is a vegetarian, got the veggie platter where all the meaty things were replaced by even more delicious vegetables and other goodies. The garlic bread was a fairly hefty sized focaccia sliced in half, lathered with garlic butter and sprinkled with mozzarella. This was the most tasty garlic bread I have ever eaten. I will dream about how delicious and garlicky this bread was. Even now, I'm having gastronomic flash backs. The mushroom bruschetta was my girlfriend's (I hate mushrooms with a fiery passion). It looked nice though (if you like that sort of thing); it was piled high with various wild mushrooms. If you like authentic Italian cuisine this place is for you. As we ate, we noticed the waitresses decanting wine from a wooden barrel into a carafe. Everything about this place just seems to be the proper Italian way. There is not a thing wrong with this place and I will be returning for definite to try the pizza. If it is even nearly as good as these antipasto plates then I will be very happy.

"Da Mimmo" is the BEST Pizza place! the best Delivery I had in 12 years in Ireland. Careful...it can be addictive. You can also book a table and eat there. It's not a big place (there are 4 tables: 2 for 2/3 people and 2 for 4/6 people) but the food is GREAT; a bit of Italian music in the background, and a friendly environment Delivery can take between 40min to 1hr (depending how busy they are) but the waiting is worth it (a suggestion: ask for home made tiramisu' , available for delivery...you will thx me for that) I like the fact that when you eat there, they give you (included) a little starter made of Foccaccia bread and Peperoni (please don't confuse peperoni with salami!! when Italians say peperoni they mean ONLY this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jyTDU3H7U4A/TKxclAFBoxI/AAAAAAAAABg/grVJHOcZPc0/s1600/peperoni.jpeg) You can also buy focaccia there to bring home. in conclusion: as a delivery 5/5 as a place to eat: 3/5 jut because it's small (but i remind: it's not a restaurant) value for money: 5/5 P.s.forgot to mention: real italian style margerita 8€; I also suggest to try "Calzone Farcito" and "Tiramisu'"...you have to :)

Small Italian restaurant in North Dublin. It feels like being in Italy. You should definitely need to book in advance since it's always packed. Tasty pizzas and amazing antipasti. Friendly staff. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an Italian food experience

First time trying Da Mimmo and wasn't disappointed. The Pizza's are definitely the highlight of this place gorgeous wood fired pizza authentic Italian way. The pasta is nice also cooked perfectly with tasty tomatoe sauce. Reason it doesn't get 5 start is I was let down by the garlic bread it's €5 for basically two burger buns with garlic butter on top. All in all definitely recommend.

Amazing starters !

This is a hidden gem for Italian food lovers ! Small place to eat in so prob advised to book before u go . Prawns and calamari starters are to die for , so nice ! Pizza is generally nice but the sea bass is well recommended , price wise is good , staff very friendly and they do take away also !

Possibly the most authentic Italian in Dublin. Their homemade pasta is unreal and the anti pasti is moreish. It's such a gem of a place.

"But why, Brian, is it not," you ask? Many of you may know that my wife uses a wheelchair, so that is usually first on my mind when visiting any establishment. We check to see if it says its accessible. And Wood Fire said it was! Yay! Except, well, sort of yes, sort of no. We were able to get in the door. The first door, to the outside covered seating area. No chance of getting in the second door into the building proper, because that had stairs. But that was ok. It was a nice night out and we were happy to sit in the covered outside area. But is a place really accessible if the toilets are not? Not only would the stairs have been an issue, but there's no way her wheelchair could have navigated through the restaurant to the back, and once there, forget it. Way too small and narrow for a chair to get in there. So yeah, great food, nice people, we had a good time. But I'm not sure "accessible" is accurate.

And it was. Did a little research and found this gem a block and a half from our hotel. Called an ordered a 4 frommagi "mini calzone" and was told they didn't have that on the menu any longer, so I asked why they did have for calzones and he said "we have one with mozzarella, Parmesan, scarmorza and salami". I said "could I order that but without the salami" and so it was done- tre frommagi. I couldn't decide between the Bianca and the "Lucky Tom" but on the owner's suggestion, went with the Bianca, a pizza with an olive oil base, topped with tomato, mozzarella di buffalo, Parma ham, shaved park and rocket (a.k.a. Arugula). When I went to pick them up 10 minutes later, they were ready and had a lovely char from the wood fired oven. The "mini" calzone would've been more than enough for the two of us, and I wished I had ordered just that since we do not have a refrigerator in our room and have to get creative with any leftovers. Anyway both hit the spot, but there was so much cheese in the calzone o ended up having it on the crust of my pizza and there was too much rocket on the pizza, but overall a win and a nice finish to the evening before we drifted off to sleep.
