Friendly and helpful staff. Good food if you want a fast and "fatty" snack. Fish&chips is really nice, burgers are decent.

Ok, the food here was superb. I'm going to start there. Because it's true, and that's important…read more The service was great, too! Normally, this would be a five star review. "But why, Brian, is it not," you ask? Many of you may know that my wife uses a wheelchair, so that is usually first on my mind when visiting any establishment. We check to see if it says its accessible. And Wood Fire said it was! Yay! Except, well, sort of yes, sort of no. We were able to get in the door. The first door, to the outside covered seating area. No chance of getting in the second door into the building proper, because that had stairs. But that was ok. It was a nice night out and we were happy to sit in the covered outside area. But is a place really accessible if the toilets are not? Not only would the stairs have been an issue, but there's no way her wheelchair could have navigated through the restaurant to the back, and once there, forget it. Way too small and narrow for a chair to get in there. So yeah, great food, nice people, we had a good time. But I'm not sure "accessible" is accurate.

And it was. Did a little research and found this gem a block and a half from our hotel. Called an ordered a 4 frommagi "mini calzone" and was told they didn't have that on the menu any longer, so I asked why they did have for calzones and he said "we have one with mozzarella, Parmesan, scarmorza and salami". I said "could I order that but without the salami" and so it was done- tre frommagi. I couldn't decide between the Bianca and the "Lucky Tom" but on the owner's suggestion, went with the Bianca, a pizza with an olive oil base, topped with tomato, mozzarella di buffalo, Parma ham, shaved park and rocket (a.k.a. Arugula). When I went to pick them up 10 minutes later, they were ready and had a lovely char from the wood fired oven. The "mini" calzone would've been more than enough for the two of us, and I wished I had ordered just that since we do not have a refrigerator in our room and have to get creative with any leftovers. Anyway both hit the spot, but there was so much cheese in the calzone o ended up having it on the crust of my pizza and there was too much rocket on the pizza, but overall a win and a nice finish to the evening before we drifted off to sleep.

While in Dublin, we were just looking for a restaurant nearby with great ratings, and this came up…read more We walked in with no reservations on a Saturday night, and we got seated immediately in a very packed restaurant. It was super snug - like really close seating next to other parties. However, it was really nice and intimate, and the service here was great and friendly. We got the salad with a baked block of goat cheese, and oh my, it was heavenly. Served with mixed greens, tomato, garbanzo beans and drizzled in olive oil and balsamic. The pizza was really great too, really simple and the bread on the pizza was perfect (the restaurant has a huge pizza oven so you know the pizza here is made legit). Saving the best for last, the past of the day, which had prawns, zucchini, tomatoes with bucatini, and the sauce is white wine, but it was like a creamy red, and no complaints. This is probably the best pasta dish we've had in a while and we were so satisfied. So glad we found this gem during our short stay in Dublin, and if you're craving good Italian food, check this place out.

The neighbourhood has been decidedly gentrified in the past number of years but the North Strand is still, shall we say, different. We were seated pretty much immediately and then reseated because I wound up sitting beside the door which, every time it opened, sent a cold draught down my spine. It didn't help that the door never properly closed without manual intervention. Anyway, one cocktail in and I didn't notice any more. The room was small but very cozy, service was efficient without being pushy so all good. The food was fantastic it has to be said. Italian, as the name suggests, throughout. My companion and I shared a bruschetta al pomodoro which was so moreish I was sorry we hadn't ordered one each. Two of the party opted for monkfish with pappardelle which was cooked to perfection. I had the penne with salsiccia which was superb and plentiful. A couple of bottles of montepulciano reserva later we headed back across the river sated and satisfied. We'll definitely be back, visas or no visas. Highly recommended.
