Sight unseen, ie the wine list was massive and I couldn't be bothered, I ordered a bottle of house white which, second surprise of the night, was a pretty decent plonk. After spotting the sign for award-winning pizza in the window, I popped in last Sunday with my partner. The hostess was delightful, and sat us even though we didn't have a reservation, on the promise that they gave the table back before seven. We were hungry and weren't getting starters anyway, so this was a deal we could manage. Our server was not quite as friendly as her co-worker, however. We ordered two veggie pizzas and the roasted potatoes; I'm a fierce woman for the spuds, you see. So after much negotiation with my partner, we decided to split the pizzas; his was loaded with veg, feta and pesto and was a bit strong, while mine, the margarita, was a little plain. This, teamed with our delicious shpuds, was the perfect goldilocks food combo. The carafe of wine we got was lovely, but overpriced at 20 euros for a 500ml carafe, but the food was reasonable enough. When we did return the table at 7pm, there was only two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. I've no major beef with the place, and would probably go back at a push... but only after a long while as I don't eat ham, so choices are limited. read more

It's basically Italian but the food is really good and reasonably priced considering you get the full restaurant experience.It's owned by the same people as Kafka down the road and they really went for a comfortable space to eat it with good food. Manifesto is definitely worth a visit! It's good Italian food, presented beautifully in a really nice setting. We were there on a Saturday and it was packed to the gills so if you don't want to be disappointed, make a reservation! They have a decent menu, with the pizzas looking like the most popular option for most, and it's no wonder, they are so tasty you just keep eating until you can't fit any more in (apart from dessert, of course). I had the Pollo Manifesto which was really tasty but a bit on the small side, an opinion that was shared around the table for the majority of dishes apart from the pizzas, so we were glad we had ordered some sides for the table to share. Desserts were definitely the highlight though. There was a satisfied "mmmmmm" around the table as everybody tucked into their desserts and the general consensus was that nobody wanted to share. I managed to steal a taste of the tiramisu, semifreddo (mine) and brownie, along with one of the dessert wines- all delicious and the main reason why I'm planning a return trip very soon! read more

I tend to avoid choosing Italian when eating out - I'd rather be dazzled by a dish that I can't figure out how in God's name was mastered by the chef. Pizza? Pasta? Bread? I can usually do that with a stone and a decent oven. But gluten-free Italian? That's like the end-all be-all cuisine for such a cooking challenge. As I've recently been made painfully aware of the limited menu of a gluten-free gourmand, I just couldn't believe the reviews I was reading. Nearly everything on the menu could be made gluten-free? Inconceivable! Pasta? Pizza? Bread? Gluten-Free? Inconceivable! And in its freeness of gluten it's still delicious? Inconceivable! (This gluten-free word you keep using... I do not think it means what you think it means...) But they, in fact, did know exactly what gluten-free and delicious meant and my 100% gluten free meal was nothing short of stunning. Spinach and ricotta ravioli, wood-fired pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, aubergines, parma ham, parmesan and buffalo mozzarella, panna cotta, heaven, heaven, heaven. We ate here on 7 Nov. We called on the off chance that they would have a table for two, and we were glad we did! The restaurant filled up very quickly, once we had arrived. On the menu, there is much to choose from! I had the Rustic pizza, gluten free, and my wife had the Don Carlione. Celiacs are so well catered for here! To drink, we had some wine, which was exceptional and reasonable priced. The service was impeccable. The staff were friendly and efficient, without being too invasive. I was disappointed with my visit here. I didn't have a starter, but we got these garlic complimentary dough balls not long after ordering. Which I thought was a nice touch, but they were way too salty. I ordered the Ravioli Vesuvio as a main course. The sun-dried Tomato Sauce was bland and heavy. The pasta of the ravioli was either not fresh or under cooked. The rocket on the side was also very salty with whatever they were dressed in. I couldn't finish the dish. The staff were fine and the decor lovely. But I was really disappointed with the food here. I don't get it, as it flies in the face of all the reviews for the place. Manifesto is a one of the best Italian place if you want to go for a pizza. Working with Italian and having Italian blood I found this restaurant it's a great one if you want to eat a pizza in a very Italian style, if you prefer the American style, you know where you need to go. A couple of years ago I celebrated my b-day there, and it was cool, some friends asked for pasta, and pizza, good wine, quite place where you can have a conversation without asking the typical question - what, first time it's ok, and second maybe too, but the third one, it would be a reply " it does not matter ". No problems in communication there. Then when we were eating a guy started moving the pizza dough with some music, it was some entertainment for the girls who were sitting in my table. Went in here for a social meal the other day with some friends. The setting was nice and the food did come quickly. They also had some good meal deals which i took advantage of. The starters came and as we shared them I can say they were all delicious. I had meatballs and I would say they were five out of five for taste. However the main course was not. I ordered the don something pizza that it said in the menu was awarded irelands best pizza in 2012 or something along those lines. First off the pizza had two toppings, some meat and a vegetable/ cabbage item. They were not evenly spread around the pizza so it was all concentrated on one side of it. The taste was just not that great, i've had better takeaway pizzas. For a pizza supposedly worth twenty euro I was expecting more and I was very disappointed. Expectations were high. I've been wanting to try this place for years and was excited to go somewhere with GF Italian options. I called and booked a table with no problems, the venue is lovely and I really like the interior. I was here with two fellow food lovers and we were all very excited about the food, award winning pizzas? Yes please. Starters: I had the pate which was divine, the presentation was beautiful and looked like something from a 5 star restaurant, same went for the meatballs and the beetroot gnocchi, it was so damn good we were all in food heaven. I was going to order a pizza when I saw there was a lobster option on the menu and I simply could not resists. When the food arrived it looked like something out of a can, it tasted even worse, the tomato sauce was bland and reminded me of spaghetti-o's, the lobster was dry and tasteless, it was not edible and we called over the manager to inform him about this. He said ''The pasta is not something we make and the lobster is fresh'' I am sure the lobster was very fresh but that did not change the fact it tasted like nothing and that he dismissed me completely. He did offer me another dish and waived the charge but I didn't even want more food from there after that. My friends both had the award winning pizza and neither was impressed. It was such an anti-climax because the starters really were incredible but the service (or lack thereof) and the fact that they would serve €22 lobster that looks like it has been cut with scissors by a toddler is just not acceptable in anyway. read more

I have never seen a more beautiful menu in my life - the dishes are classic and innovative rolled into one, with the fresh and well-selected Italian ingredients you love.... quickly transformed into something you could never quite think of. And I love the vision and passion of the intro. Give it a read; the chef expresses an enviable purpose. This is a very nice little Italian restaurant (about 50 seats). It fills up quickly so it is best to go early or make a booking. Be aware that the portion sizes for each dish is small. This is because they follow the proper Italian meal course (i.e., first pasta then meat). Combined, you meal will cost about €25-€30, but that is effectively a 2 course meal. Pizza is good and can be much cheaper. The only bad thing I have to say is that the service is slow. They were nice and very apologetic about it. read more

Amazing place for Coeliacs! They have a whole Coeliac-friendly menu and use a separate oven and special plates just for GF pizzas. I've never had any problems eating here and I am a particularly paranoid Coeliac diner. There's enough variety on the menu for everyone else to be happy too and they use fresh, good quality ingredients. They also cater very well for vegetarians. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are friendly but unobtrusive. The only slight downside is that the place is tiny so it can be a bit difficult to get a table at times. We don't get to eat out that often but Manifesto's has never disappointed. Plus the pizzas are very tasty :-) read more

Went here with a few friends yesterday evening. Everyone enjoyed the pizzas, especially the "Mama". The place had a very cosy atmosphere, and we stayed for roughly 2 hours. The only thing that we found slightly annoying was trying to get the attention of the waiters. For example, when we wanted dessert we got the menu and we were left waiting a good 20 minutes before a waiter finally came to us. A similar issue when we asked for the bill, and also tried to pay. And the place was only half full at this stage in the evening. Despite this, I would recommend this place to friends. Great wine selection. read more

Firstly if you want to eat there : book! I'm glad a friend told me to do that as the place is small (but very cosy) and also very busy. I was very curious as I heard so many good things about their pizzas. We booked a table at 6 on Friday. We started by sharing the bruschetta and what I clearly remember is the size of the mozzarella - it was delicious. I then had the mamy pizza which won an award. It was aubergine mozzarella Parma ham and tomatoes - I might forget something because again, I'm focused on the amount of mozzarella and how good it was. We ended with the Nutella chocolate mousse which was surprising light and easy to eat. We pour ourselves glasses of the house red wine which was good too (and it's a French talking!). This is excusable because the food is so good, but it's a pity the only type of sausage available as a pizza topping is sausage with fennel. I had the ravioli which was delicious but I'm lucky to have ordered roast potatoes on the side as the portion size would have otherwise been too small. Lovely, romantic Italian restaurant in Rathmines. There are many things I love about this place. I love the decor and the ambience. It's not particularly original but it's warm and inviting - and the way you imagine a stereotypical, romantic, expensive Italian restaurant to be. The food is good although hit and miss. Certainly it's hard to go wrong with the pastas - the spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and prawns is incredibly simple but absolutely delicious. Simply prepared but wonderful done. Penne with cream, mint and sausage is unique and interesting. Flavours which are new but well crafted together. The pastas are also relatively cheaply priced around the 9-15 euro mark. And they can be enjoyed as either a starter or a main course. On the other hand, the fish and meat dishes can be very expensive - up to 25 euro - although they are well presented, crafted and cooked. There are often daily specials - soup, appetiser, pasta, fish and meat. The sea bass special that I have tried was cooked to perfection but it wasn't as filling and substantial as I would have hoped for the price. A notable mention goes to the pizzas, which are large with a regular base that stays dry and delicious right to the centre. I would recommend against getting prawns on the pizza however, as these tend to turn to mush in a pizza oven. Definitely a pity as this is one of the few places where king prawns are used as standard on the pizza. Pleasant, friendly service. Good wine list. read more

I went for their notorious mamy pizza and would recommend that others do the same it is delicious. speedy service however you may have to book in advance as there were reservation cards on most tables however we walked in around six without a problem. Saying is that this is the best pizza in Dublin... Don't know for sure, but it is definitely one of the rare places where you can get in only with reservation. Place looks really nice, all the staff are Italians (as well as the cook), but as this is not guarantee for anything, primo piato gnocchi was nothing special, maybe even a disappointment. But then came the principessa pizza and it was really good (even after heated in microwave). Be aware that most of the pizza during the lunch are ten euros each with juice gratis. For dinner, those same pizzas cost around 15-16 euros. read more
