Needed a quick bite to eat before hopping on the train, had a couple slices of pizza that were crispy and flavorful.

I'm used to getting ravioli from an Italian Superstore that's dotted across Long Island. Good? Yeah maybe but what I grew up with? Nah. I'm in The Bronx and I'm going to stop at Borgatti's Ravioli for our Sunday dinner. Walking into the store, it's very small. There are high glass partitions, no touching just pointing. I see the various pastas and ravioli but I want the big suckas. Small ravioli? C'Mon! I made the best red sauce that I will drown these raviolis in a sea of tomatoes. The small raviolis just can't swim in my pot! The older gentleman behind the counter asks if he can help me. I ask him to open the box and actually show me the larger ravioli. Oh baby, they are large and in charge. Why I walked out with one box still boggles my mind because I should have bought 3. I'm not in the area too often and the extra boxes would have carried me through the winter. I hand over my cash and the gentleman says God Bless to me. I'm not getting blessings on Long Island! When I came home, my wife made the perfect Sunday dinner. Those raviolis came straight from the 70s. Simply perfect. God Bless us, everyone.

However, it was probably about 20-30 minutes before we took our order, so service is definitely fast! Inside is super small, but there are lots of Italian goods around to see. There are also blocks/rounds of cheese you can purchase too. We got The Casa, and ate it outside. Service was so kind and we even got to see them make mozzarella in the back! I don't think this sandwich was my favorite unfortunately. The bread had a funky smell(?) to it, and I feel like it fell a little flat on flavors and textures. Regardless, I am glad I tried and met the incredible team!

Food & Service: 5/5 There's no sit-down service here, but they're incredibly fast. I ordered a hero and a large order of mozzarella to go, and it took less than 20 minutes. Everything was prepared right in front of me, which made the experience even better. Ambiance: 5/5 The space is definitely tight -- you'll have to go single file to get in and out -- but it's homey in the best way. Watching them make your sandwich and fresh mozzarella in real time adds to the charm. Food Highlights: I got the Italian combo, which came with a thick slice of fresh mozzarella that was practically dripping, paired with generous portions of deli meats. Add in a perfectly crunchy hero roll, and it was the perfect lunch. Overall: A classic Little Italy stop. Simple, fresh, and worth every bite.

I've always wanted to come up to Arthur Avenue, so I finally did. They call this New York's "real…read morelittle Italy", and I do have to say, it is much less touristy than Mulberry Street. The Neighbourhood is chock, full of restaurants, pastry shops, meat markets, seafood shops, but the center of it all, is the Arthur Avenue retail market. It's a fantastic place. All of your shopping in one indoor space. You can get your groceries, your Italian meats, your veggies, you can stop in and have a beer, you can buy cigars, they had the only T-shirt shop that I saw up here, when Mulberry Street is full of them. You can get gelato, you can have a good glass of wine, you can have dessert, etc..... I stopped into Mike's deli (separate review) and tried the veal Parm that went up against Bobby Flay. It was excellent. I also stopped in at the end of my visit, to O'ccaffe, (separate review ) the pastry and coffee place right at the entrance to the market. The cappuccino was amazing, but the cannoli was a little bit different. I've always had my cannolis with a crisp shell. This cannoli, had a soft shell. The filling was excellent, but I just would've preferred a hard shell. Other than that, everything was fantastic. This place is worth a visit. Thank you.

I don't even like eggplant and I'm in love with this dish. All of the sandwiches hit too. The Italian sushi is interesting, but eat it fresh as the arugula doesn't stand up to refrigeration too well. My perfect foodie day is going to Mike's, buying some mortadella and a ball of homemade mozzarella, then popping into Madonia's next door to get a loaf and some fresh hand-filled cannoli.

I finally was served by Chef David Greco himself. He beat Bobby Flay in Eggplant throw down. You can see the picture of him on the show. Dave is super friendly and engaging. The Italian sushi is definitely very innovative. Soft prosciutto is rolled in sushi style with filling of arugula, cheese, and sun dried tomatoes. There are two kinds of dipping: balsamic and pesto. Both of them are complimenting the sushi. Eggplant parmigiana is definitely a must try. It's like a lasagna made of layers of thin fried eggplant. You can make mozzarella pull. So delicious, not surprised that he beat Bobby Flay.
