I used an hour waiting for my order, I don't know why but he purposely made my meal and gave it to a person that came after me, I guess it's because we had the same order but it was my first time there and the guy was a regular, maybe it's cause I'm black too. To our surprise what arrived at the door was We sacute, obtuse, AND isosceles triangle shaped slices of pizza glazed over with a fresh coat of shredded cheese and tossed in the oven for a minute to hide the tips of the slices that didnt match. This place is located a block away from the NY botanical garden. It has the old school loom of a nyc pizzeria. Nice big slices for an affordable price. They also serve pasta and have Italian ices. They also have some arcade games and 90s music videos playing on the tv. The only thing is they do need a better AC system bc its a bit hot. read more

The chicken tomato slice is DYNAMITE...yes, sounds simplistic, but there's just a particular way they do it which makes it absolutely delicious. Really crispy too. I would rather have 711 pizza over this pizza. Whatever sauce they use to make this pizza is horrible, and sauce is what makes the pizza. This pizza place is close to my job and i choose not to go there. I actually had it for the 1st time in years a few weeks ago(only because it was free) and it was terrible. My boyfriend and I have been coming to Rocco's for about 6 years now. My personal opinion is that they have the absolute best, true NY style pizza in the Bronx. The crust is always perfectly crispy with just the right amount of cheese and flavor. Slices are also huge and still pretty cheap considering the other pizza spots in the area. (My boyfriend, who grew up on this block, tells the story of when a Rocco's slice was only $0.50 and he would stop in after school with his two quarters from after lunch. He tells this story literally every time we come here.) Eating in the restaurant is nothing special, typical pizzeria, but the tables are always clean, they always have pepper flakes, garlic, napkins, etc. and you cant beat playing a quick game of racing just for nostalgia's sake. We've also had their garlic knots (delicious!), their chicken wings (really good, breaded-type wings), and their patties (delicious and super, super hot). Overall this remains my favorite spot to grab a quick slice. It is definitely a staple of this community and the type of place that you can forget your wallet and they guy behind the counter says, "no problem, just get me next time!" I love Rocco's. read more

The best thing about this pizza is the price. It's pretty cheap. I've never had anything else from this place. I work very close to Rocco's and don't go in unless I'm in complete desperation mode. I often question how clean it is. For the mediocre nature of the pizza, it's not worth the risk. I'm from upstate NY and this is the type of pizza you'd routinely get 100 miles outside the city. When I'm in city limits I expect better. That said, I used to eat their more often (circa 2008-2010) and didn't have any issues. I can't say the same for Carmine's across the street. Two of my co-workers ate their once and both got sick. As I said in a previous review, this neighborhood absolutely sucks for food. First off please do not order from Door dash, Ubereats or any other pizza delivery from this pizza shop. They do not seal their boxes closed with tape or anything which is so unprofessional, especially during this pandemic. I called them about this and both of the guys had an attitude and said "oh well, we do this for everyone". I ordered a Buffalo pizza pie from here and it was complete trash. It was literally dough drenched with ranch sauce and chicken. I couldn't even pick up the slice without a ton of sauce dripping everywhere, my daughter chocked when tasting this garbage and my husband threw up because of how much salt was in that thing.The sauce was not even good, I think they took big glass of ranch sauce and just dropped it on the pizza and put it in the oven. Not as good as it used to be ... but that's 'cause Rocco's not there anymore. I plan to stop by when I'm up in that neighborhood later this week and I'll write another review. Haven't been there in a few years ... last time was probably about 10 years ago. I'll see if they still have the table reserved for Rocco that was there last time I was up there. Back in the day me & my friend's would eat at Rocco's a couple of times a week. I had 2 friends who would split a whole pie between the two of them ..... and have a couple of calzones while they were waiting for the pie to cook! LOL. I remember how Rocco made these things call "hippy rolls" (a lot of other places called them "eppy rolls") but Rocco claimed to have invented them. It was sausage & peppers rolled up inside some pizza dough. Always one of my favorites. So next week I'll let you know how it is these days! PS - I saw somebody mentioned the video games ... My review is actually centered on just the pizza itself. I'm not usually one to get pasta dishes at pizzerias, so I can't speak of how well Rocco's makes those traditional Italian dinner dishes. Regardless, if they make their main course dishes as well as they make their pizza, you can bet they'll be delicious. The pizza here is amazing. I grew up in the area, and ever since I was young, my parents and I would always stop in when we were on the way to the Botanical Gardens. But back to the pizza. I'm a firm believer in the idea that you can judge a pizzeria's overall pizza quality based on their plain slice alone. Well, I can honestly say that Rocco's has great pizza. They are very consistent, so you won't come in one day and get a dry piece, while on another you'll get a perfectly cooked, fresh piece. The cheese and sauce is always very good. I can think of a number of places somewhat nearby *cough* Jerome's Pizza *cough* that need to work on their consistency, but Rocco's has it down pat. They have NEVER overcooked a pizza that I have ordered. I once ordered their meatball pie, and it was the best meatball pizza I have ever had. The meatballs were real meatballs, not just ground beef, and they were sliced thin and then there was a dollop of sauce on each individual piece. It was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere at Rocco's is also a bit unique. Generally, the small private pizzerias tend to be pretty small establishments, with tiny seating areas that always feel cramped. Not so at Rocco's. Not only is it usually not crowded, but they have quite large floor space, so it makes it feel a bit more airy, and not like a typical shoulder-to-shoulder NYC pizzeria would. Overall, I really like Rocco's. Great pizza, convenient location, consistent, not too expensive, and plenty of seating. read more

I grew up - up the hill from this place on Marion ave and the corner of Bedford park blvd. I must say this place like Mikes ( Carmines ) across the street from it has changed alot over the last 30yrs ... ( yes I said 30yrs LOL ) I grew up eating from these 2 pizza places and have seen this place also go thru many remodelings ... but as the other gent who reviewed it mentioned ... they have arcade games and have for the last 30yrs ... A slice and a can of soda is $3.50, which is an excellent deal, especially since the slices are so large. Only drawback is that they don't have a soda fountain - just cans/bottles. Oh, and the TV. Worst place ever, the pizza is terrible and all the employees are really disrespectful

A friend and I were craving pizza for lunch after visiting the holiday train garden at the NYBG and found this place on our way back to the train. We ordered a large extra cheese pizza and it was delicious. The place is your typical nostalgic neighborhood pizza place, complete with a couple arcade games. It was very clean inside, the food selection plentiful, decently priced, and the gentleman behind the counter was friendly. I would definitely go back next time I visit the area. read more
