My absolute favorite was the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle but honestly, every pasta was delicious. Portions were generous and leftovers were promptly boxed up to take home. Spinach dumplings, grilled artichokes, and a black truffle cream sauce that stayed balanced instead of heavy. Exquisite is not close. We both ordered the filet mignon. Perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with a fork. Hally checked on us the whole night without ever being pushy or hovering. She was warm, welcoming, and completely professional; the kind of server who clearly takes pride in her work and is a real asset to the ownership team. This meal alone would bring us back to Solvang.

It was delicious with a lovely crispness but still nice and chewable. And the crust actually has a nice flavor to boot. Now I don't care if it's actually "Roman style" or any other style because it tastes great, that should be the only thing that matters to anyone. There were seven different offerings by the slice when I visited and I've already picked out the one I to try next ( fine chopped Calabrian cilia and Italian sausage). The folks there told me that they four are "staples" that they will always have and the other 3 will rotate with different combos coming and going. The slices are a decent size but not massive but one was enough for me for a lunch. I might get two for a dinner meal. At $5 a slice it's right on par with a slice at other local pizzerias and full slab (they're rectangular) prices aren't too far off from the other locals as well with much more creative offerings as well the classics. Bottom line is it's really good pizza. If you judge your pizza by Costco in either price, volume or cost, my words are probably lost on you ( no offense) but if you value good flavors creative combinations and great local businesses, this your place. I know all my pizza dollars will be flying over to Pegaslice from now on :-)

Baked in a rectangular sheet pan and served by the slice, you can sample a range of toppings on a delicious crust that crackles when you bite in but is moist and chewy as you work your way through. As a base line, I had to sample their simple, tasty Margherita. The sauce had great personality and the fresh mozzeralla had just the right chewiness. My second slice - the 'MortaVodka' - had a slightly sweet tomato-based vodka sauce, a beautifully folded slice of Mortadella and - surprise! - roughly chopped pistachio nuts that added a great texture. My lovely wife took a walk on the wild and spicy side with the Prince Zuko slice featuring pretty spicy Calabrian chilis and Italian sausage and the couple who joined us raved about their choices as well. Recently opened in the hinterlands of Goleta (7398 Calle Real - inconspicuously nestled behind the 7-11) with a comfy outdoor patio (slab floor means NO WOBBLY TABLES) and a bright, no frills interior done in white and deep blue. They've got sandwiches (though I can't imagine not having pizza every time I return), simple salads, wings, fries, milkshakes, soft serve vanilla cones and a gotta-try-next-time pistachio lava cake. Like an old-fashion diner your slice comes in a blue basket with blue & white checkerboard paper liner - nostalgia! Generous slices run between $5.50 and $6 bucks, or buy 4 and it's just $20. I could go on and on about the great service, very friendly owner and staff and more, but I KNOW I'll be back.
