Pizza is on the Domino's quality level, but an upside to the buffet is you can make a custom request and they happily made a ham and sauerkraut. I took three slices...unfortunately when I went back for more others had feasted on it and it was gone. Chicken was moist and delicious. I was disappointed the wedges weren't out; instead seasoned waffle fries were present. I've never thought these hold up well on a steam table. Most of the staff was very friendly, a special s/o to the older gentleman who would drop off the custom pizza orders. He was exceptionally polite. The opposite was the individual helping to clear tables. I thanked him twice, but he ignored me...yet had a smirk on his face that he couldn't seem to wipe off (see photo). These guys are pretty great. We came into town late and we were starving and there's no way we were going out to find something to eat with three dogs. We called them from our hotel half an hour before they closed and they weren't sure about delivering to our hotel but they did and the pizza was amazing and we were very thankful! We got deep dish with sausage and a regular pepperoni. We thought their sauce was excellent and their crust tasted homemade. We would definitely order again if we were ever back in Iowa! read more

Today they decided they would deliver to Saylor Twp but wouldn't take a check from Saylor Twp because they only take local checks? The address on the check was the address they were delivering too. I am less then 2 miles from their business, they will deliver but they won't take my check because it isn't local? This was the manager I spoke too. They just lost my business. Food sucked anyway. I had seen many tables that had dirty dishes and half eaten food. I came back out of the restroom and could see more seating with dirty tables. Went to the front and told my wife that we were not eating here. I immediately asked for a return of funds back to my card and the corporate phone number. I was promptly told "we are not a corporate restaurant "I then asked the cashier "Who is your manager" she quickly responded"I'm the manager" Went down the road to HuHot and walked in, there was one dirty table and it was being cleaned as we walked in. When pizza is in the name you expect good pizza. However in reality you are unlikely to leave the temple of pizza with much of anything to say about it. In one word the pizza is unremarkable. It's edible, it's ok. I can't put my finger on if it's just lame sauce and cheap toppings or what. But it does not compare well with pretty much anyone else who makes pizza as a core offering. The chicken on the other hand is fantastic. Unless you pull an old dried up one out of the bucket instead of the fresh ones. It's a roll of the dice and a gamble you have to accept. On our trip here yesterday the pizza buffet selection was probably the worst I've ever seen. There was no cheese pizza that my daughter asked for. Neither was there any standard pepperoni or sausage that I could pull toppings off for her. They did not have any of these standard pizzas for our entire stay. Instead they had a bunch of empty spaces where pizzas were missing and what was present was a variety of different olive and pineapple pizzas. There were at least four pizzas sitting there that had olives on them. For a place really geared toward kids and families it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Someone was obviously not properly managing the pizza buffet. After paying full admission for 4 I feel let down by the cost to value ratio of our trip. We paid full price but received a less than expected experience. read more

Ok this location has one of the friendliest staff that takes to go orders and delivers pizzas I have not ever visited the restaurant, only done delivery, but I have had positive experiences every time. They take time to ensure your order is correct and I have never had to wait longer than an hour for food even on Halloween when everywhere else was crazy busy. The pizza is good for a chain restaurant and the cactus bread is delicious! Pizza Ranch is my go to when I need dinner quick or just have a craving for pizza. read more

I have eaten at multiple Pizza Ranches in the area and I would say this may be one of the better ones. It was not too busy when I went to this location so there was a lot of pizza to choice from without any running out. They did a good job keeping their pizza stocked with different variety. Food quality shouldn't even be discussed, their chicken is moist and pizzas flavorful, end of story. I have always enjoyed Pizza Ranch more than CiCis, and although Pizza Ranch is more expensive, it is worth the extra cost. read more

Walked in on a busy Sunday, very quick and pleasant experience through the line, food always hot and delicious. Offered to make any pizza I wanted and give a table tent to find me. Food - pizza line was fresh and full, constantly changing offerings. Salad bar - cold and always topped off. Quality was awesome. Chicken line - first time and only disappointment was the BBQ chicken. It was hard and seemed to be yesterday's offering. However, on repeat run to the line, it was changed out and food was fresh. Dessert line - always a favorite with the family. Multiples of cactus bread and fruit topped pizza was offered. Store was very clean and staff was quick to clean when my family went as a group to reload the plates. Not sure if that was a bad thing or not....states for the staff is eager to make the place look nice. Will return most absolutely!! read more

Ok, so Pizza Ranch is a chain restaurant with an all you can eat buffet. The price is right. Tables of families abound. Noise level can sometimes be elevated during peak hours. The pizza is ok, and you can request pizzas to be made fresh that are not on the buffet at no extra charge. The fried chicken is very good, definitely the star over the pizza. My personal favorite is the salad bar, which is quite nice. Currently the salad bar is featuring fresh seasonal fruit and fresh Iowa sweet corn as an awesome addition. There is also a dessert bar which includes dessert pizza's and some very creamy soft serve ice cream. read more

Am I thinking of the same Pizza Ranch on Oralabor Road? We went there and it was disgusting. The carpeted floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days. Whole pieces of pizza on the floor. The table was all greasy. Pieces of food on the bench seat of the booth. The pizza selection was subpar at best. I would say it is a marginal step up from frozen Totino's Pizza. Greasy pizza with tough crust. Poor quality cheese. The "buffet" was overpriced as there wasn't enough enticing food for me to get a fill. The parking lot had food strung out all over the place. I am not exaggerating either. My son noticed it first. Although all the "buffet" feeders may like this place, I will never go back to Pizza Ranch! read more

I am gluten-intolerant and therefore cannot have anything with wheat in it (Celiac disease). Pizza Ranch has a complete GF menu available, and they make everything separately, including having a separate stack of pans they use. My wife is not Celiac, and she loved everything that I couldn't eat. Their chicken is apparently amazing, so is their regular pizza, and their soft serve ice cream is as good as DQ's. I can also vouch for the beef vegetable soup and the chili, as well as the salad bar. The staff was very, very friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered a 10 piece chicken pack. My daughter (19) went in to pick it up. As she waited she heard the man in the back say "Oh sh*t! I dropped one. Oh well who counts their chicken anyway." We arrived home to only 9 pieces of chicken. I called the store and asked for a manager. I relayed my daughters experience and told him that indeed we only have 9 pieces but paid for 10. The manager informed me that it was him who said what my daughter heard but that he didn't drop it on the floor, he just dropped it back into the dryer. I asked why he only have us 9 pieces and he told me that none of it was true and that my 19 year old daughter was making the whole thing up. I filed a complaint against the manager with the company and they mailed me a discount on the purchase of a large pizza! Definitely will NEVER patronize another Pizza Ranch! read more

I was working in Polk city and decided to drive to the Ankeny pizza Ranch location. The salad bar stayed stocked and so did the hot food bar, however, the fried chicken was too dark. The grease was either old or if they bread the chicken themselves is was done up ahead of time allowing the chicken to sit there and absorb the flower making it pasty so it cooks up dark. I payed at 12:31 and left at 1:16. Not one fresh pizza was ever brought out. They continued to serve the dried up pizza that was on the pizza bar. I paid $10.59 for dark chicken and potato chips. What a waste of my money. I will not visit this location again. The staff was friendly but that is the only thing positive I can say. read more
