    Shrimp Po Boy
    O V.

The food was reasonably priced and the portions were huge for me and my family. I ordered the shrimp Po Boy and I'm still thinking about it. Tasted great! It had a great balance of savory and sweet. The shrimp had a light fried batter and crispy.

This place is awesome! There's a huge variety of food from sushi to American seafood to beef/chicken. I got the clam chowder and fish & chips basket. It was a ton of food! Service was good and quick, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth coming here!

In a word, underwhelmed. Nothing here was awful, but nothing here was outstanding. The gumbo was Iowa spicy, perhaps but certainly not spicy to my tastebuds. The portion of seafood and sausage in the gumbo was about two steps below parsimonious. The fried shrimp wasn't much better than the stuff you can by in bulk at Sam's Club...and the fries were nothing special either. The sushi roll I had was similar--the sauces added nothing. It was plated nicely however. The young man behind the sushi bar who was my server was very attentive and friendly, as was the remainder of the service staff I interacted with. Can't say I'll never go back, but for a place who has won multiple awards for "best seafood restaurant", it was certainly disenchanting.

I came to have oysters. Oysters were good but no idea where the oysters came from. The restaurant is facing to the pond and it was nice atmosphere. I wanna come back for sushi next time.

A sushi with complex flavors. So good.

The food was as close to perfect as one can vote. Deliciious only begins to describe it. We had the oysters and sushi. I ate oysters in my twenties and HATED IT! LOLBut these conveyed me instantly. Yum yum Outstanding service and the dining area had a peaceful but upbeat feel. Our waitress was very nice, quite capable, with outstandingCalifornia Roll5Oysters on the Half ShellOysters on the Half Shell service. I'd never been to this location, but it totally hit all the high points!

    The Ankeny Roll

We ordered take out Sushi- The Ankeny Roll. It was such a disappointment. The sushi looked thrown in the container. Each roll was over $15.00. We really think a $15.00 meal should look decent. The rolls themselves were thrown together. We have been to Waterfront for years. Not sure what happened but we won't be paying a premium price for their rolls again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entering, I was met with the full atmosphere of a seafood restaurant that could have easily been located on a coast, yet here I was on January 11th in Ankeny Iowa![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was relaxed (because I was relaxed and obviously not hurried, and the waiter could tell because he was paying attention to the little details!) I chose the shrimp and capon scampi! It was very well done and tasty!! Definitely worth stopping here for a bit of the "sea" in the middle of winter!

Good food and good service. We also enjoy ordering sushi as an appetizer. I especially like their coconut shrimp.

Good food, good service, friendly weight staff. The salmon was a little overcooked, but wonderful flavor.

There were about 30 people in our group . They had already ordered the table appetizers before I arrived consisting of The Deviled Eggs with bacon, Artichoke Spinach dip and Crab Rangoon dip. All were delicious even though a bit cold from sitting for a while before they got passed around. We had 2 servers that I didn't get names but both were very attentive and managed the group very well . Everyone's orders were taken efficiently, I got the Frutti Di Mare in a white sauce with the seafood bisque soup. The entire dish was delicious with the exception of the bread, it was rock hard, but I didn't need it anyway . The bisque soup came out too cool for my liking but the waitress had a new bowl served at the right temp and it was perfect. I would eat a whole vat of that. The meal was great, shrimp perfectly prepared and fresh and snappy, plenty of mussels and a large portion providing a take home amount that served as dinner the next night too. I also indulged in a key lime pie because if rave reviews. I was not disappointed. Overall the place is elegant and classy enough for a suit and tie but still casual enough for shorts and flip flops. It will make for a nice date spot for an anniversary dinner. By the way this review was not written or touched by AI.

Between us we had cheese toastie, prime rib dip, and a Reuben sandwiches. The meat on both the prime rib and Reuben was succulent and tender, and none of us could finish them. The house curly fries were perfectly seasoned and delish. The rest of the menu looks great, and I hope to be back next time I'm in town. They def know what they're doing in the kitchen- wish I'd thought to take pix, but if you're in the area, make sure to check it out.

Clean bathrooms. Service: Super friendly staff that were rolling with the punches as it was absolutely packed. Food: OH MY GOD. So good, so so soooooo good. The food here honestly reminded me of my time in Ireland, this is the closet I've got to that level of amazingness without actually being there. Even the brown bread reminded me of many meals in County Clare. I forgot to take a photo of the corned beef and cabbage and potatoes but I will never forget them. Perfectly tender, and seasoned. I will dream about this place and hope that some day I end up back in Iowa.

Like probably most Americans, I haven't tried a lot of South American cuisine so I didn't know what to expect. I guess I was expecting something like Mexican food. Well, it's definitely a lot different than Mexican food. Peruvian food isn't very spicy and the seasonings are different, yet still tasty. There a big Chinese influence on Peruvian food, too. I got the Lomo Saltado, a popular Peruvian dish with stir-fried beef, onions and tomatoes served with rice and French fries. My husband got the Chaufa al Wok, an oriental Peruvian fried rice with chicken. The fries kind of threw me at first. I wasn't expecting that. The dish was very good and had a nice flavor. My husband loved his dish and thought it was delicious. With both of our dishes it was interesting to see how much of a Chinese influence there is. What my husband absolutely loved the most is their homemade horchata. It tasted different than Mexican horchata so he asked what was in it. Our server said it was made was cacao beans instead of just rice and cinnamon. It had a pale brown color to it, too. I also liked the seasoned corn nuts that came with two different sauces--a sweet one and savory one. We both thought the prices were a little high but not so much that we wouldn't come back. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and helped us decide what to order. She was very knowledgeable about the menu items. At the end of our meal both she and the owner (I think) asked us how we liked everything and if there was anything they could have done to make things more enjoyable. I mentioned that my food came out much earlier than my husband's so I was almost done by the time his came out. The owner apologized for the wait and we really appreciated that. They also serve empanadas, pupusas and tamales. We're going to try these the next time we come back. Someone at the table next to us ordered the pupusas and they looked yummy. We were pleasantly pleased with how tasty the food was despite being a lot different than what we were expecting.

The food outshined the service!…read more Ambiance: 4 stars Food: 5 stars Service: 2 stars Well, I came here with a friend for lunch. He loves the place and said the Gyros are fantastic. So I went with his recommendation. First impressions: The place is small and nicely located in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. They have adequate seating and were only slightly busy when we arrived (I would say it was at half capacity the entire time we were there) We stood at the reception location for a while before we were 'greeted' and finally seated. We sat for quite a while before the guy with the headset to came back to take our orders. This was the weird part - he was fine, but he spoke so quietly we were not sure he was addressing us or talking to someone in his headset. Eventually we got our orders in, and we again waited. Some time later the water showed up, then after another pause the drinks we ordered were delivered, and sometime later the food showed up. He even remembered the dipping sauce which I thought I was going to have to ask for. We ate our entire meals without once being asked how things were, and eventually after the food was all gone, he came back to unceremoniously plop the bill on the table, and after another extended period he came back to process the payment. All-in-all the interaction with this guy was 'just weird'. (It was suggested that he might be the son of the owner...) He was doing his job but there was absolutely not any extra effort put in to make us feel welcome, and the total lack any real interaction was off-putting. The overall appearance of the place was nice and appeared clean, the decor was fresh and classy. However the bar area around the kitchen was very cluttered and looked like it was being used for overflow storage and it was a bit chaotic and had lots of clutter. Please forgive the fact that I forgot to take pictures of the delicious food. I got into conversation with my friend and just forgot! It was a very well made traditional Gyro with generous portions of meat, fresh hummus and a perfect portion of super fresh tzatziki sauce. I ordered fresh jalapeños and they got that right too! The side of fries were delicious as well, seasoned perfectly, crispy and fresh, and the garlic sauce...well did not lack for garlic! Wowza!! Overall I do recommend this place for the food! I will most likely return and I hope that the service will be a little better next time around.
