    Their delicious Wednesday special, Meatloaf!
    Daniel E.

An outstanding dining experience without huge expense, Tribute is a great addition to the Ankeny eating scene. Absolutely great customer service throughout! Thoroughly enjoyed my Wednesday night Meatloaf Special, which was highly recommended by two friends and our server. Oh my, outstanding! Good-sized portion with tasty gravy, garlic potatoes, and vegetables. Delicious, definitely returning for it again! Booths, tables, and also a nice bar. Please type of space for romance, catching up, business, or just relaxing with friends and family. Parking not an issue in The District. Casual attire. The place oozes with kindness.

Checked this out but was pretty disappointing. It's nice inside, clean and spacious. Service was the best part of the meal. We tried the seared tuna salad, lobster bisque, burrata, Mac n cheese, fries, and cocktails. The greens of the salad was so so but the seared tuna was grey on the edges, tasted bad, and didn't eat any of it but the bite to try it sadly. The lobster bisque was brown like a thick gravy and also almost tasted that way. We barely found any lobster or the taste. Burrata and the fries were the best part of the meal as the Mac n cheese and cocktails also fell short. Mac and cheese wasn't flavorful and extra thick and heavy while the cocktails weren't well balanced and just plain didn't taste good or high quality. Sadly I wouldn't recommend or come back.

Welcome to Ankeny's Newest Gem: A Tribute to Fine Dining! We are the lucky ones! I was invited by a friend to the soft opening of Tribute Eatery and Bar, located in the former 30hop space in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. It's a perfect corner spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. You enter to an inviting reception area that is nicely appointed with classy lighting and clean, contemporary decor. The owners (who also own 30hop) have completely revamped the place with a fresh and clean look, transforming the interior from its previous iteration as 30hop. We were quickly greeted and seated at our requested high-top for four. Upon seating, we were immediately recognized by Samara, the general manager. She has a cool and important-sounding title, but she was very courteous and welcoming. She knew our friend Brian, who had invited us along. This was a nice personal touch and you could tell how excited she was to be opening in this new location! Soon after, our server, Kylie (I hope I remember her name correctly), came by and gave us the scoop on the menus. We all ordered a first round of drinks and a couple of appetizers to share. The drinks we tried throughout the evening included the Bonded Manhattan (Excellent), Violette Squeeze (Pretty and also excellent), Paloma Rosa, Prickly Pear Margarita (tasty) , and the Strawberry Basil Mule (We got 2 of these, delicious) . They were all very well crafted and I would order any one or two of them again! For appetizers, we shared the amazing Deviled Eggs, which were not only fun to look at, they were perfectly creamy, with a nice touch of prosciutto. The General Tso's Broccoli, while not overly impressive to look at, was packed with delicious flavor. For dinner, we ordered Sam's Rigatoni, Seared Scallops, Tribute Roasted Chicken, and the Steak Frites. The presentation of each dish was beautiful, and the execution was flawless. I was lucky enough to order the scallops, and they were fresh, clean, and melted in my mouth, just as I'd hoped. The corn purée was a perfect partner. I did not share! However, I did get to try the roasted chicken and the steak, and everyone at the table was extremely happy with the quality and taste of their dish. So was I! We didn't have any dessert, but the menu items looked amazing, as did their intriguing daily specials. We look forward to returning soon to try more of the menu.

I hope more people come out and try this restaurant. Its only been oped for a month, but there were only 3 people dining in around happy hour. They have a great meun but I only stopped in for light bites and a drink, I did the happy hour, picklery, pear Margarita which was fantastic. devil eggs, so good they melted in your mouth, and Bouji Baby BRG & Fries so good hit the spot. Service was fantastic I can't wait to come back and try more.

I and my amazing woman ordered the Grilled Buffalo Chicken Cobb along with a half Very Berry Salad with added grilled chicken, and overall it was a satisfying, hearty meal. The Grilled Buffalo Chicken Cobb was the standout. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, topped with a bold buffalo sauce that added heat overpowering the dish (heh). The salad itself was generously portioned and visually appealing, loaded with fresh ingredients like cherry tomatoes, avocado slices, blue cheese crumbles, crispy bacon, hard-boiled egg, corn, carrots, and mixed greens. Every bite had a good balance of textures and flavors--creamy, crunchy, savory, and spicy. The Very Berry Salad (half portion) was fresh and light, making it a nice contrast to the Cobb. Adding grilled chicken made it more filling, though the upcharge felt a little steep for the portion size. Still, the greens and toppings were fresh and well-prepared. Service and presentation were solid, and the food arrived looking just as good as it tasted. One downside was the added 3% swipe/tap fee, which bumped the total up a bit, but the quality of the food helped justify the overall surprise. Overall: A flavorful, filling meal with fresh ingredients and strong presentation. A good choice if you're craving a substantial salad that doesn't feel boring and looking for a place to hide from a rain and talk to your loved one. (5/5)

There was a small but steady crowd throughout the night and we had top- notch service from our server- knowledgeable about the menu, attentive in the 'just right way' - carefully observing drinks and not interrupting date night more than necessary. A variety of local And other craft beers were featured although surprisingly not any from Firetrucker next door! The holiday decor was still up but even without it has a warm feel- love the various table sizes and heights and the long bar with a pretty decent offering for cocktails. While there, the bartender was experimenting with drinks and having fun. After recommendations I ordered the French dip which was phenomenal! Homemade bread, warm, generous meat and peppers and grilled onions, flavorful dip . I will say if I ordered again I would ask to have the sauce left off as I am not a fan of horseradish sauce. Still, it was tasty! Side salad as option was super fresh with mixed greens and the house creamy Italian was bursting with herby flavor. my husband had the tenderloin and while delicious- it was 'bougie' and not the traditional Midwest. It was generous and interesting as a dinner option. Would certainly return as the patio is inviting (just not in January)!'

I had no idea if there was meat choices (there isn't) or toppings or sides (there are sides like fries) I'm glad I asked for the menu, as I almost thought about the nachos. Which I would have not known about if I hadn't seen a menu. We did not appreciate the rudeness when she asked if we were ready to order and I replied how would we know we haven't seen a menu. Just for her to roll her eyes and come back and toss them on the table. That attitude made me not want to spend my money there and my tip absolutely reflected her poor behavior. She could have earned 20 from me alone out of our group, instead of what was left over from the change. I work in the service industry and I appreciate both good food and service and it also would have been nice if our checks were correct but I have learned to pick and chose my battles but that also helped contribute to her not super tip. Arcadia is a short drive north of Grimes in a newly developed area of Polk City just after you cross over the long bridge over Saylorville Lake. We were impressed with the new building as we drove up (told that it opened about 1.5 years ago) along with the lively, open atmosphere & modern decor as we entered the building. We started our meal with a couple of local craft tap beers - a nice selection was available. Since we came for the Burger of the Year contender, the Smashburger was one of our orders (see picture) and we opted for the Fish Tacos as our second meal (see picture). Both were delicious and highly recommended. While I offer my Kudos for offering Marshmallow Creme for a dipping sauce with the sweet potato fries (we haven't found many places that do this...and we LOVE it), my only knock is that it was way too watered down and runny - with most of it running off the dipped fries rather than sticking to them. We finished with a Salted Carmel Old Fashion...and yes, it too was delicious and highly recommended! More information on the drinks and Happy Hour specials can be found at: HappyHourDesMoines . The Service: We were eventually seated at a booth (the one with no working TVs), and while we were quickly greeted by Jennifer--who was our waitress for the night--we ended up waiting most of the evening for her to come back. We did get waters and drinks while waiting for our friends to arrive. Once they showed up, it took a little while to get the rest of our order in, but it all worked out in the end. They were very busy that night--between the Indiana Fever game, graduations, and a band crowd. Jennifer was hustling, along with her husband and one other waitress, trying to cover the whole place. So, while I can't (and won't) complain about the effort, they clearly needed more help to reach that 5-star level. Same goes for the bar--it was overwhelmed and absolutely needed more than one bartender to handle that crowd. Just a note for management: the team was working hard, but they were outnumbered. The Food: The kitchen was on the ball. Our appetizer of Brussels sprouts was delicious--great flavors, perfectly cooked--and they hit the table just moments before our entrees did. I had the jalapeño burger with the ridiculously long name (you'll know it when you see it), and added the $4 onion rings. The burger was fantastic--well made, full of flavor. The onion rings, while not quite worth the $4 upcharge as a side, were the crispiest onion rings I've ever had. Really good. Kim's wrap, on the other hand, was underwhelming--$14 for a tortilla shell mostly filled with lettuce and not much flavor. Our friends seemed happy with their meals and later ordered a bread pudding to share. We all had a sample, and while it was decent, it was definitely missing a sauce or something to make it pop. The Value: Our bill--1 appetizer, 2 meals, and 4 drinks--came to over $100 plus tip. (Now that I'm writing this, I kind of wish I'd looked at the receipt more closely.) Still, that seems to be the going rate for this kind of night out in the greater Des Moines area these days. Pro Tip: Try coming during happy hour to stretch your dollars a bit further.
