While you order at the counter (see picture), they deliver all but the Chips and Queso (see picture) to your table and are great about checking in to see how everything is going. We started with the Coronita Beerita (see picture) and Chips and Queso - both were delicious and highly recommended. For our main course, I had Shredded Chicken & Carnitas crispy tacos (see pictures), while my wife had the Taco Plate (see picture). All of them were delicious! This obviously isn't a high-end 5* restaurant with cloth napkins, but for some great Mexican food at a reasonable price that is walking distance from Principal Park...you won't go wrong stopping here. I took my family to Fuzzy's, and my 12 year old daughter saw a alcoholic drink that wasn't originally sold as a virgin, but they were able to make it a virgin for her. My daughter usually refuses to eat Mexican food, but now she loves this place after she tried the grilled shrimp quesadilla. When it was time to go, we were struggling to take her drink to go and they came over with a souvenir cup for her drink, refilled it, and gave her an extra bomb pop (the drink she got had a bomb pop with it). When we were trying to take a family selfie, they noticed and immediately came over and helped us out. This is a kid friendly, bright, warm and welcome space with many TVs and the outdoor area included the game bags. My overall rating is 100,000,000/5. Terrible experience. We stopped in for lunch. Waited over 15 minutes to order food. Did not seem to be full just very slow at taking orders. Ordered diggable burrito bowl. Started eating and the chicken was so over cooked I couldn't chew several of the pieces. I also found uncooked rice in the bowl. The experience was terrible on my teeth. I stopped here for lunch after arriving in town for the weekend. I had previously been there once before however that time I just walked over from hotel. The first drawback was the lack of signs about parking. By the time you realize you should have turned into the pay to park parking lot, you are past it. Fuzzy is on a one way street so you have to make a huge circle to come back. When you park, you must take you ticket to be validated. This is no big deal just a bit of a hassle. There was a small line. However it moved quickly. The longest pint after I made my order was for the cashier to validate my parking. The food came quickly. It was plentiful and cooked exactly right. However, this is defintely a place where it pays to see what extras you can add. I added sour cream at the recommendation of the cashier but it also could have used some guacamole. I don't know if it was just that day but the line was backed around the corner with people waiting and they would not open a second resistor. We sat at the table right by that line and people were in line almost 15 minuets if not longer. Finally one guy at the bar waved a couple people over but really that is just nuts! I have had Fuzzy's Taco Shop book marked since it opened at 300W. I finally got the opportunity to check the place out. They have a pretty good system from ordering until you pick up your food. We got the Chips & Queso with Ground Beef. I didn't feel the Queso & Beef had any real flavor. Very bland, the chips had seasoning on them, but not very tasteful. I got three soft shell Baja Tacos, Grilled Fish, Spicy Pork, and Shredded Brisket. They were just average, they really seamed to miss having any flavor. The grilled Fish was probably the best, but didn't have much fish. They all seamed to need a little more meat and a whole lot more flavor. This place could be a solid four with some spice in the pork, some smoked flavor in the brisket, and some fish on the taco. Just average for me, but good for a quick lunch. read more

But since we hardly make our way to ankeny, I was happy to hear that the downtown location across from the science center and baseball stadium was finally open. The building is brand new. Entrance is in the back where the parking lot is at. The entrance is also the same entrance for all of the shops for the building. The decor and ambience was fun and casual. The menu is extensive and easy to read. You order first and they will give you a pager to pick up your food in the back where the cooks are making your meals. My only negative was that the cashier whom I ordered from was not very knowledgeable on their menu. I don't know if she wasn't trained well on their items or what, but luckily the owner was more than happy to help us out. The employee needs to study the menu better and know how and what to offer the customers when it comes to suggestions, especially since this was our first time here. The Food: Taco platter which comes with two tacos of your choice on soft or crispy shell and two sides -shrimp tempura taco on soft shell- 4/5 (only thing I didn't like was that the shrimp and taco were small in my opinion but the flavors with their sauce on it were great!) -brisket taco on hard shell - 3/5 (it was a good mixture of flavors especially with their sauce on top and this taco was bigger than the soft shell) -mix mex rice - 4/5 (great flavors) -fried potatoes - 4/5 (perfectly crispy and soft and seasoned just right) I will definitely be coming back! Nostalgia. When i was just a boy growing up in Southern California the family and i would frequent Disneyland. Mind you Disneyland at the time was $18 admission and that was the adult price. A different day we live in now. Anyway there was a Mexican restaurant near Big Thunder Railroad that we would eat at as often as we attended. Sadly it no longer exists (not all change is good). Now this place was awesome and forever engrained in my memory. Why do i tell you this story? Well, the rice (fuzzies) and beans (refried) brought me back to sitting outside near Big Thunder. It's almost like they discovered the long lost recipe of the Cantina Restaurant at Disneyland circa 1980. You can probably find better, but this nostalgic moment makes these the best! i also had one chicken and one beef brisket taco and both were great. i enjoyed Fuzzy's in Colorado often and now here in Des Moines. This was a struggle for me. I have been to Fuzzy's in Texas before and I was always pleased. When I saw that there was one in IA I was happy to eat there prior to heading on a plane back to Georgia. He asked me to clarify what it was that I didn't want on my tacos. I thought he got it right. NOPE. He didn't put it into the system. Got my plate, saw the Pico and returned it. Let m just start by saying, great service, great staff, and laid back atmosphere. The Grilled Mahi tacos were some of the best I've had, and with their cilantro chimichuri it made them even better. They have local beers on tap such as Big Grove and Confluence which are absolutely fantasic as well as there ever expanding "beer"ita menu! I was fortunate enough to meet Jill and Brandon Knight, the owners of this fine establishment and they treated me and my friends like family. Ordered two tacos with NO beans, queso, salsa, and the Oreo churros and a drink. When I asked for the Oreo churro the guy who was ringing me up was like "NO!" I assumed sarcastically? So I laughed. Who knew the best place in town to snag a giant cheap beer was Fuzzy's Tacos. When you can get an 18 ounce beer in a giant frosted Margarita glass for 1.89 you are in the money and in the beer! This is not some random deal either, its all day every day! Mind you, you get Busch Light, but heck it goes down easy and taste good and when it's this cold it would be the perfect combos with some tacos or a burrito! I enjoy this place. It's kind of a guilty pleasure. The atmosphere is pseudo sports bar patio industrial. High tables and booths available. Service is mostly no frills, but a fun atmosphere. Parking lot allows for 2 hrs of parking free, just make sure to validate your ticket. Prices aren't too bad, drinks are good. We stopped in on a Friday evening after spending some time at Mixology at the Science Center. I really like the building they are in, as it's fresh, modern, and very clean. We ordered a few different things to try and our food was ready relatively quickly. Chips & Queso - I appreciate it when places actually season their chips! Some places don't even put salt on them :( Fuzzy's has a nice seasoning salt on the chips, and the queso tastes really good. There was the perfect amount of bacon in this baby, and the eggs were like little yellow pillows of delight. I put a little of the queso from our chips on it, and it was heaven. The ordering experience at this restaurant is so weird. Maybe it was my bad for going in the middle of a day, a little off rush time. But why would I want to stand in a super long line on a hard floor and then after ordering, be shuttled off to pick up my own food at three different locations around the store?
