    Patty melt with fries
    Mary P.

We stopped for lunch. It was very busy. Hubby had the special - - which was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and a bun. (The daily specials are all comfort food! ) It was delicious and filling. I had a patty melt and fries. They were good too. I only complaint was I asked for extra onion on my sandwich. I was charged $.75 for it. Really?

We enjoyed tenderloins and the lunch special of meatloaf and tried the cinnamon roll. Delicious.

The food was so delicious. The service was wonderful. It was a busy place but people were seated quickly.

Absolute fire. Absolute flame. Absolute gas. - Reasonable prices. - Got a table right away. - Food was PIPING hot. - Delicious toast and whipped butter for days. - Can get biscuit on the side with homemade jam. - Clean bathrooms. - Our only critique is the coffee. Both mine and my husband's tasted burnt. We will be back!!

Small intimate location located at the corner of Northeast 14th and NE 70th, in Carney, Iowa. The same owners of Smoky D's restaurant owns this location, however, this has the feel of a small town diner. I had the Denver omelette with the mini biscuits and gravy, extremely delicious. The pepper was a bit heavy on the gravy, but I can over look that. My partner had the whole meat omelette with the hashbrowns, again she said it was delicious. The hashbrowns needed a little more seasoning, we are able to take care of that at the table. The pastry (Jam'in Tart), was a homemade version of a pop tart. We had the strawberry filled one. Came out hot and extremely delicious. We will try another flavor next trip. Overall, it's good enough for me to come back and try another time. Great good, prices were very reasonable!!

Once again I need a pop tart fix. If you like feeling like a kid again but your taste buds expect a more that a bixed experience than this is where you come. Today we have the traditional brown sugar cinnamon and a season cherry tart. What fabulous way to start a snowy day.

A recent addition to the North Metro breakfast and lunch scene, It's My Jam is immediately considered one of the best breakfast spots I've enjoyed around Ankeny. Open 6 AM-2 PM every day, we visited as they started business on a Sunday morning. Literally. Plentiful parking, a roomy seating arrangement, and clean and well-lit. They serve lunch as of 1030 AM. Michelle was our server; she was outstanding, fun to chat with, kind, and truly knew the menu and its contents. She helped me select the Breakfast Burrito ($10.99), smothered with country gravy, and a great tip on including sausage (hint: get the hot salsa!)! My Way Better Half enjoyed the Build Your Own Hashbrown, which included Italian sausage, onions, bacon, hashbrowns, red bell peppers, over-easy eggs, and Swiss cheese. My only suggestion to the staff: I wish their delicious sourdough bread had butter as an option. They also have daily specials and offer them the next day as ToGo pre-packaged, refrigerated meals at the counter that looked delicious (note to self: hamballs on Fridays). I appreciate that they have Toast (fitting) technology for easy checkout and payment.

This is a new restaurant in a beloved space. The owners of Smokey Ds are doing breakfast the way of the former Sorriso Grille. The remodel looks great. My only caveat is the floors and chair combination may be a little tricky for our less than sure footed folks. The chairs slide very easily. The food was very good. Not a huge menu, but good selection of tried and true favorites. Our party of 5 had a BYO omelet, avocado toast, BYO hashbrowns and the chicken fried steak. The portions are plentiful and prices reflect what you get. Everyone enjoyed the food. The service was quick and friendly. Being able to pay at your table is also a great perk!

Fun place to visit. Staff was friendly coffee was great. Lots of great menu options and I'm a corned beef hash fan so that's where I went as soon as I seen it as an option. I sen the table next to us order the famous French toast and it looked amazing also. That's on my list for my next visit.

**A Classic Favorite, Revamped** That's My Jam has taken over the old Sorriso Grill and given it a fresh, new look. While the ambiance is updated, many familiar dishes remain, bringing back nostalgic flavors. We were disappointed to miss out on the cinnamon rolls, which are legendary and apparently just as delicious under new management. The weekday lunch menu offers a variety of options, though the early 2 PM closing time is a bit limiting. The service is still top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and service. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and, of course, those famous cinnamon rolls!

We weren't feeling too terribly hungry, so we wanted to try something light. We had driven past this place before, but it was always too busy to even enter. Luckily this time since it was during the week, it wasn't busy. We were seated right away and our order was taken. Everything was very fast. Believe it or not my pancake was all I needed. It had such great vanilla flavor and fresh. My husband loved his breakfast as well with the eggs and toast, etc. By the time we finished eating, the place started to pack up with definite regulars. My favorite part about this place, it's the cheapest breakfast we've ever found. I don't mind paying the big bucks for great food, but it's even better when it's great food for a very affordable price. They also serve lunch. It's definitely a place. We will go back and try. The ambience is just like any breakfast/diner vibe: Fun, friendly, and delicious!

*** UP and RUNNING*** Very exciting that this great place is back up and running, revamped with the new face, new name. Updated interior and still the Sorisso Grill vibe. I went within the first week of the reopening and they are packed. They are busy, and the staff are working hard. They now have pagers if there is a wait. The parking lot is a little bigger and if there is a wait you can take the pager to the car and wait. There is a little waiting area where a table used to be. The waitress was right there to get our drinks and then got pulled 6 other directions Our wait for 2 wasn't bad. The menu has been simplified and looks really good. It got right over to one of my favorite meals and ordered the eggs Benedict. South of the Border Eggs Benedict with the breakfast potatoes. I really appreciate that you can order a single or a double on this breakfast meal. My girlfriend ordered a omelette and the homemade pop tart that was suggested by the waitress. We got excited about the poptart. There was a little delay in the food but not going to be upset since this is the first week. They are still getting their barrings and the food was fantastic once it hit the table. There was so much flavor in my Eggs Benedict and the potatoes were not different from before the remodel, they were perfect. I cant wait to go back and try another meal. Great job!

I love that when you drive up, you can see all the greens growing inside. We placed our order, then had a quick chat with the friendly young man at the window. But there wasn't much time for conversation because as promised, we got the world's freshest salads. It was so quick. We got home an opened up our salads and they looked amazing. My husband got the southwest salad and I got the Caesar salad. They were both delicious. Everything was incredibly fresh and so tasty. We really liked the Salad Girl dressings as well. I'm super picky about salads, and if it's not fresh, then I'm not interested. This was easily the best salad I've ever had. My Mother has been having their lettuce delivered practically since the beginning and I am always impressed with the freshness and flavor. Unfortunately, their facilities tours were not available during our visit, but I'd love to take the tour sometime. I will be insisting on visiting Clayton Farms Salads every time we visit Ames.

We ordered a Caesar Wrap w/chicken, Chicken Pesto w/no cherry tomatoes, Firehouse Chimichurri w/steak and no cherry tomatoes, Chocolate Smoothie, and Farmer's Punch. For starters, all of the produce was fresh and crisp (which is always a plus), but you can tell that meat is not their forte. The chicken tasted as if it were precooked, frozen chicken (not saying that's a bad thing, just didn't seem as if it was freshly cooked), and the steak was full of almost inedible gristle. The overall flavor of the food was pretty lackluster as well, besides on the Chicken Pesto; the balsamic vinaigrette was very overpowering. The Caesar Wrap was large, but the sandwiches were quite small portion-wise. The Chocolate Smoothie tasted more like a green smoothie with chocolate protein powder, and we had a really hard time keeping it mixed; sadly, we didn't finish it :( The Farmer's Punch, on the other hand, was really good! Service: The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The person who greeted us was friendly, but not particularly social, if that makes sense? It almost seemed as if they didn't have enough time for us. They were polite and quick with getting our order to us, though. Ambiance: Inside is quite small and not meant for a dine-in experience; there are no tables at all. This is definitely a pick-up/to-go/drive-through type of establishment. It's kept very clean, though, from what we could see.

I ordered the Pit Master Sandwich with a side of French onion soup (you get to choose a side with the sandwich). The sandwich was really good! The bread was buttery and soft, and the homemade croutons in the soup were clearly made from fresh bread. The French onion soup wasn't for me--it kind of tasted like acid reflux to me, so I gave it to my mom. She actually thought it was pretty good. The sandwich had perfectly balanced barbecue sauce and cheese, although I thought the barbecue sauce overpowered the cheese a bit. Next time, I'd probably order it without the cheese. The brisket was good, but I would've preferred a fattier cut because I think it would have been more flavorful. I also wasn't a fan of the Gouda since it didn't melt very well, but the other cheese on the sandwich was delicious. Overall, the food was incredible, and this place is an absolute MUST if you're in the area! I noticed they have around 78,000 DoorDash orders, and after eating here, I can definitely see why. So I went with his recommendation. First impressions: The place is small and nicely located in the District at Prairie Trail in Ankeny. They have adequate seating and were only slightly busy when we arrived (I would say it was at half capacity the entire time we were there) We stood at the reception location for a while before we were 'greeted' and finally seated. We sat for quite a while before the guy with the headset to came back to take our orders. This was the weird part - he was fine, but he spoke so quietly we were not sure he was addressing us or talking to someone in his headset. Eventually we got our orders in, and we again waited. Some time later the water showed up, then after another pause the drinks we ordered were delivered, and sometime later the food showed up. He even remembered the dipping sauce which I thought I was going to have to ask for. We ate our entire meals without once being asked how things were, and eventually after the food was all gone, he came back to unceremoniously plop the bill on the table, and after another extended period he came back to process the payment. All-in-all the interaction with this guy was 'just weird'. (It was suggested that he might be the son of the owner...) He was doing his job but there was absolutely not any extra effort put in to make us feel welcome, and the total lack any real interaction was off-putting. The overall appearance of the place was nice and appeared clean, the decor was fresh and classy. However the bar area around the kitchen was very cluttered and looked like it was being used for overflow storage and it was a bit chaotic and had lots of clutter. Please forgive the fact that I forgot to take pictures of the delicious food. I got into conversation with my friend and just forgot! It was a very well made traditional Gyro with generous portions of meat, fresh hummus and a perfect portion of super fresh tzatziki sauce. I ordered fresh jalapeños and they got that right too! The side of fries were delicious as well, seasoned perfectly, crispy and fresh, and the garlic sauce...well did not lack for garlic! Wowza!! Overall I do recommend this place for the food! I will most likely return and I hope that the service will be a little better next time around.

We were greeted and asked if we were dining in (it appears they do a brisk takeout business) and were told to sit where we wanted. It was surprisingly crowded for a Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. The menu is extensive and hubby and I both like Mediterranean food. I chose the Falafel plate, served with five falafel balls, hummus, a pita, and Greek salad. The portion was generous (ended up taking two falafel home). Served with tahini and their house green sauce (olive oil, cilantro, and jalapeño) It wasn't spicy but it was so delicious - I could get addicted to this thinking of all the other ways so could enjoy it!! The Greek salad was served with house dressing - garlic and yogurt, also very good. The falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and flavorful. The hummus was not at all grainy - smooth but just a tad bland. Hubby had the lamb skewers and liked them very much. Served with rice, salad, and hummus. He also took one of the skewers home. We both had the mango Fresca juice. A bit too sweet for me but I generally drink unsweetened beverages. Hubby liked it a lot. Service was friendly and we were checked on twice to ask how we liked our food.
