Great Bang Bang Shrimp! Margaritas were good. I got the 42 ounce. Came in a cool giant margarita glass!

This place totally looks like it used to be someone's house. The street corn used mayonesa--which added a healthy (and welcome) burst of lime flavor. Don't add any additional--otherwise the lime flavor will be overpowering. This was an exceptional dish--very generous amounts of cheese and Tajin seasoning as well. The chips were served very warm and they don't skimp on them. I thought the salsa was a tad thick, but that's probably just my preference for thinner salsa... Service was very good--staff checked in regularly--and they took the step of bringing my extra spoon out on a plate. I thought that was interesting as well. I don't know if it was a Monday special, but my tallboy of Pacifico was only $3. I didn't even know they had Pacifico tallboys--I thought this was an exceptional value. Some minor quibbles with my barria tacos--the verde salsa was heavy on the jalapeno--overpowering in fact. The shells themselves were griddled to perfection and there was a healthy amount of cheese in them. The broth was pretty greasy--not something I had experienced previously. The meat was tender, but not very flavorful. On an individual basis, if only one of these issues was present, this would have been a five. The cumulative (minor) issues knocks the overall review down to about a 4.25. The booths are very large and tall, but there's not much room for fat boys like myself to squeeze in. read more

Restaurant is very clean with a relaxing and beautiful ambiance. Great selection of Mexican beers! Tried something new and ordered the Birria pizza. It was fantastic! It came with a side of the birria connsume which really made a difference! My daughter ordered the almond chicken fingers as an appetizer and preceded to also order the salmon salad but asked for the almond chicken fingers inplace of the salmon. The portion sizes were huge!! The almond chicken strips were probably the best chicken I have ever tasted. Simply put, they were amazing. Not too sweet, super crunchy, juicy and flavorful! We left with a great deal of leftovers because the portion sizes were so big! Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely be back to try some more food. read more

Food is good and has great portions for their prices, and it also has free ice cream for kids.

The service was very poor. Sat for 20 minutes with nothing other than chips (no drinks) and it wasn't busy. The food was average at best.

Huge portions, barely made a dent in fajita and in the burrito. Corn on cob (Mexican style) was my husband's favorite. Margaritas are excellent, not too sweet and strong! Only complaint is that we took our group there on Thursday night and on the way out, saw a sign stuck in lawn that said house margaritas were $3 on Thursday nights that isn't posted anywhere inside the restaurant; We even asked our server what he recommended for the margaritas and he never mentioned the sale so we ordered various $12 margaritas that were flavored. A hidden gem off 141. We pass this restaurant often and finally stopped for lunch. Nice ambiance, clean and great music. Our server was very friendly and chatty. We ordered off the lunch menu so the prices were even better. We ordered a burrito rojo and steak burrito bowl. Huge portions! We were shocked. Food quality was great. Our server recommended we try pizzas next time which surprised us for a Mexican place but he showed us the specialty pizzas and they look delicious on their cracker crust. This afternoon we had the chance and decided we'd give it a try over our old standby Hacienda Vieja just up the road a block. The thing that stood out the most was the lengthy food and bar menus (see pictures) - making it hard to make a decision on what to order. We started with drinks and that ended up being a little frustrating, possibly attributable to a language / communications challenge. We asked several times if they served Mezcal, since we love it and finally the server said he would go ask at the bar. He returned and said that they didn't serve Mezcal, so I ordered a Michelada instead. While walking to the bathroom I walked by the bar, so checked out the liquor behind the bar and saw a bottle of Mezcal, so pointed it out to our server who happened to be standing there (later seeing that they show at least 5 different kinds in their bar menu - see pictures). With that information, I asked our server to change my order to a Mezcal Paloma (see picture) and my wife got a Watermelon Basil Shaker (see picture). The Watermelon Basil Shaker was very good and there was a generous quantity served, although we didn't taste or see any basil in the drink. The complimentary chips and salsa (see picture) were average - they tasted good but were very typical / standard for what you get at many Mexican restaurants. For our meals, we ordered the Pollo Mango Street Tacos (see picture) and Ceviche Al Gusto Mixed (see picture). The Ceviche was very good and while we received standard chips instead of the plantain chips mentioned in the menu, we really enjoyed it. The Pollo Mango Tacos were a little bland to both of our tastes, as we each commented about it and looked for hot sauce to give it some kick, but otherwise were hot, moist and tender. Even though we were both very full from all of this food, I couldn't help myself once I saw Tres Leches and Limoncello Cakes on the menu. We asked the server for a recommendation between the two and he suggested the Tres Leches Cake, so we ordered it and asked him to put it in a container to go (see picture). Of course we did have to open it in the restaurant and have a couple of bites - it was delicious. A little on the sweet side, but very spongy, moist and flavorful - definitely a great addition to finish your meal! I truly believe you will enjoy your experience here. Everything about this place is warm and inviting. The building itself has a gentle and soft touch about it. The staff are always welcoming and genuinely kind. We've never not felt like we are appreciated for choosing to dine there. After all, going out to eat is just that. A choice. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in Grimes truthfully, but none have even come close to our experience here. Not even remotely the same experience. Let's start basic. Drinks. Weather it's for the classic margarita, or something a step up like the shakers they are done well every time. Prices wise it's what you would expect, and yes they really do look like the menu pictures, fruit and all. Next up appetizers. This is such a hot topic. Everyone knows you need to start out a meal strong. This place has no disappointments here. We love the Sol Dip. The trio. The Bang Bang shrimp are absolutely my favorite thing on the menu. Try all of them.. mix it up and split it with your friends. They are all delicious. Now main courses. Don't be overwhelmed by the colorful and a bit lengthy menu. It's a lot to take in, but its worth taking the time. Also, staff is knowledgeable about whats on it. Have a question. Ask. Not sure what something is. Ask. They are happy to help. I believe the staff there our genuine in there approach to service. I personally love the seafood options. The flavors and seasoning is always just right. My husband loves the burritos. we went in on a Tuesday for lunch. we went straight to the patio, because it's so nice out. big patio, not much for shade though. server was pleasant, but a little slow to come around. he may have had tables inside. The food was good value, got a huge meat platter with shrimp steak and chicken and a chicken pesto pizza . They were both decent meals but I think they just need less options and to master the food they do have.. the server was super friendly and very nice and she helped me understand the menu. would recommend trying it . read more

O.M.G. This place is the BOMB! Not sure how we've overlooked it for so long. Unassuming from the outside. Excellent food. I had Tacos de Carnitas and it was sooooooooo juicy tender and flavorful. We shared an order of CHORI QUESO and it was also delicious. Servers were attentive and friendly. Chips were perfect thickness.
