Traveling here for work and found them on Yelp. Incredible chilaquiles. Fast and friendly service. Would 100% come back.

    Breakfast burrito

Not enough bang for the buck! In this review I am looking mostly at the value since we had it delivered I cannot speak to the service or ambiance. We ordered through a delivery service. The delivery was on time and the order was complete. The packaging was good and the food was prepared as expected and came still warm and fresh. Packed full of potatoes with a very little bit of other ingredients. Looks like bacon and eggs (sadly it was 85% potatoes) I would prefer more eggs and bacon. The burrito is $13.50 and the coffee was $7.50 for a large. So a delivered meal cost just over $28 per person. For a breakfast burrito that is just too rich for my tastes. Even at the pre delivery cost it would be closer to $20, and for a simple burrito with primary ingredients being potatoes I'd say it is not worth the cost. The burrito was fine and came with 2 little portion cups with fresh salsa and some really good hot sauce, but really nothing worth the $13.50. Also the iced coffee was also delicious, but $7.50? Maybe to add value a side of fresh fruit or something would be a nice touch... All that said, the quality of ingredients was great, but the value is just not there for my money. We knew what we were paying when we placed the order , we just thought there would be more bang for the buck.

This place is worth a visit. The chiliaquiles set me back $20, but was very filling and pretty tasty. Not my all time favorite, but definitely satisfying. I'll probably pick a cheaper option next time. Coffee was good, servers were pleasant, and the overall ambiance was simple but good.

    I asked for no meat

I ordered a croissant egg & cheese sandwich on DoorDash. The description said only egg and cheese, and I even added a note saying "please no meat touching my food." I'm Muslim, so this is something I'm extremely careful about. I opened the sandwich, took a bite, and realized there was ham inside. I had to throw the whole thing out and literally got sick. When I called, they told me DoorDash writes the menu descriptions (??) and that they "didn't know ham counts as meat." That response alone is unbelievable. If you have any dietary restrictions--religious or otherwise--be careful ordering from here. They clearly don't read notes and don't take customer concerns seriously. I won't be ordering again.

Been wanting to try this place forever! Order before you sit down. Very reasonably priced menu. Amazing service, super friendly staff. Constant line, almost out the door so you know that's a good sign! We ordered the breakfast burrito which was sooo fresh, hot, & delicious. The crepes were just okay as they would've been better filled but still not bad! The fruit was very fresh. The hot sauce for the burrito was so good. Very cute diner feels in there. Busy & quick service! We will definitely be back & I recommend adding this to your places to try around Des Moines.

A hidden gem for brunch! I cannot believe I haven't visited this place sooner. The location is pretty small, but very clean. And plenty of parking out front. Service is friendly. You have to go up to the front to order and pay first, they have menus on the counter if you need to browse before going in line. Food was very tasty! The huevos con chorizo was my favorite with the corn tortillas on the side. They also have bakery items at the front counter so I'll have to try those next time!

Always amazing. Husband got his Texas ribeye brunch with extra beans and no rice. The beans have an amazing flavor with a kick, a slight kick. Steak is tender. This time I got the Cuban. Holy smokes, the best around. Not only was it the most tender pork ever, but it wasn't dry. Not even close. I have no clue their secret. Bread was amazing and the ham and the cheese and pickle all blended great. My husband said he's getting it next time. You order at the register and seat yourself, but they do bring the food to you at the table. There's usually enough seating, but it can be busy. Another day where we just missed the rush thank goodness. Just a good vibe all around while you eat and it smells so good. Simple decor. Can't wait to go yet again.

Did not get the egg with the huevos rancheros, I wish there was more rice and beans instead of sauce. The tortillas were great, I should have asked if I could have added potatoes to the dish. They were so nice and answered our questions. Love how you pay before hand. Vanilla latte was so good!!

    Good food!!

Such great food! Workings are kind and hard working. And the vibe of the place is right for a breakfast spot. High recommend this for anyone!

Tried Cafe con Leche at 2905 Hubbell today and it was absolutely delicious. Servers and workers were helpful and nice. Food came out quick. You order at the counter and then sit and wait for the food to be brought out to you. Texas Brunch: Ribeye, Eggs, Beans, Rice and Toast. So, so flavorful and delicious! Would def get again. The rice and beans alone were flavorful and good! Strawberry Nutella Crepes: kids loved this, we added ice cream on top Dulce De Leche Pancakes: Kids loved this as well. We added Strawberries and Bananas All-in-all, we would def come again if we were out this way. Hours are 8am-3pm. They serve breakfast, lunch and different coffees, lattes, shakes, etc...

Yes! This was fantastic. Husband had the Diego and enjoyed the pancakes. I had the chilaquiles and loved them! Everything has great and distinct flavor including the coffee! It wasn't just trucker coffee. We will be back and maybe next Sunday!

Since we were…read morealready planning an evening meal in Omaha at the end of the day it made sense to start out with a breakfast in Des Moines. based on reviews in Yelp we chose Mullets. Mostly because it sounded really cool to see the pictures of mullets that decorate the restaurant. I didn't think of the fish called a mullet, but they have creatively used both the Fish and the hairstyle to create a fun logo. I loved the poster of all of the presidents of the United States wearing mullets that was in the entry vestibule. My husband had the Burt Ends Benedict. It was delicious, with generous sized chunks of meat in BBQ sauce under the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I had the Country Fried Steak breakfast with hash browns and hard scrambled eggs. Everything on my plate was perfect and delicious. The gravy was outstanding! Probably the best restaurant gravy I've ever had. On my next visit I'm planning to order the same thing, but I'll request gravy on the eggs and potatoes as well. We shared an order of cinnamon roll pancakes. They were delicious, and super sweet. Overall, the staff was friendly and efficient and we will definitely be back.

I was less excited when the burrito came and the waitress said "I have a... sad burrito.. sorry" It was small, had no seasoning, and didn't come with a side because the burrito that comes with meat is big enough to not need one but the veggie one is super small, barley making it a meal. I was so hungry that I ate it and didn't want to make a big deal about it to the waitress that was doing her best. My friends got fun waffles and scrambles but I was looking for something with no meat and protein. Overall, it could have been a better made burrito, either with ingredients or with a side.

It's got that old-school, decoupaged diner vibe--definitely a little worn around the edges, but that's part of the charm. The staff was great--loud, friendly, and clearly tight with the regulars, which actually made us feel more at home. Our waitress was super helpful and made some solid recommendations. We sat near the kitchen window and got to watch a parade of delicious-looking plates come out. Food-wise: prices were fair if not a touch expensive, portions were generous, and most of it hit the mark. Pancakes were huge (seriously--massive), but ours were a touch underdone. Everything else was on point, though, and we'd absolutely come back and try more menu options. The have daily specials; Weiner Wednesday looks interesting...

We started with a delicious Tupelo Margarita and a dark lager beer, from their good selection of tap beers. As we've come to expect from our visits to Tupelo Honey, both main dishes as well as the sides were delicious - chicken was crispy and juicy and both the Shrimp & Grits and cream corn were buttery and creamy. I was so hungry coming from my flight that I ate it but it took likely enough salt and butter to raise my blood pressure for there to be a smidge of taste in my meal. It's a pretty restaurant to go grab drinks and maybe an appetizer but not much else. Overall 3/10.
