    Seafood Combination (SPECIAL)

If you are looking for some of the best Asian food in Ankeny look no further than the Lucky Bamboo. The hardest decision you will make is to eat in, take out or have it delivered. If you are eating in or doing carry out watch out for the constant flow of traffic in and out of the restaurant and the cramped parking lot. The spaces are too small and everyone seems to park like.... Regardless of the sketchy parking situation we love this place and the food is consistently delicious and as fresh as it can be. Sadly I always seem to forget pictures because my mouth is watering and I forget myself! The restaurant itself is inviting if not a little small. It is always clean and always bustling with the walk in traffic. The staff are quick to acknowledge you and even faster to get your order ready to go! The order g is done at the counter and you server yourself food and drinks. I love the Kung Pao stir fry and all of the variations are fantastic. Kim likes the Ginger Chicken or the Sesamee Chicken Special. The Crab Rangoon are mouthwatering and crispy while the spring rolls are flaky and delightful. Even take home the appetizers are fresh! My last meal was the Empress Shrimp Special, good and bad, the flavors were spot on and the shrimp was snappy and fresh, but the breading was completely soggy, I would not render that to go again. Pro tip: if you order a dish with spice levels be careful as I really enjoy a spicy dish, but this is no joke here. 5 star heat is a 10+. Scorching and hot , in fact Just while writing this review I began sweating at the memory! Spice Level 3 maybe 4 are right if you like to sweat but still want to taste tour food. I have done their spice levels 5 and 6 and paid the price! I highly recommend this business for a great and consistent lay satisfying experience!

Wanted to give the pho here a shot since I haven't really heard about the pho here within the Asian community and I was very pleased that I did! I got a medium size combination pho which includes slices of beef, meatballs, brisket, and tendon. The broth was quite savory yet light (for those who do not like oily pho). I will say I like my pho on the oily side but this pho did not disappoint. All was well balanced. The service was great! They were quick and hospitable. Dining room was nice and clean.

We stopped there for lunch and it was a pretty busy day. The lunch special is very reasonably priced. Place your order and then go sit down after you get your drink. Hot sour soup was really good. You don't have a choice for soup of the day. The egg roll was tasty, but the crab Rangoon was a little soggy. Hubby and I both had Mongolian beef and it was really good. I brought home part of mine for later. It's a nice place.

It was a positive first visit that will bring us back to Lucky Bamboo. The combination of good pricing, great customer service, and tasty Pacific Rim food options made it a winning combination. Situated in a Delaware Avenue strip mall, this restaurant has plenty of parking, lots of interior table seating, offers takeout, and has a casual overall tone. We enjoyed daily specials, Chicken Lo Mein and Cashew Chicken, from their expansive menu. We both chose a medium spicy level. It was delicious, prepared on the spot, and quickly delivered to the table. I appreciated the kind service that accompanied the visit throughout.

Sesame chicken and NOT fried rice.

Food was ok but hard to enjoy without the requested utensils. They also didn't give me fried rice like I'd asked for.

We added the soy sauce, this was supposed to be the fried rice

Man this was my favorite go to spot for my Asian food fix in Ankeny. Let me start with the positive, crab ragoons were on point and delicious. We ordered cashew chicken, which we order every time, what happened? No flavor, very bland. Ordered fried rice which was $12.99 by the way. It was literally just brown rice, we saw nothing else added to it? What happened, new cook?? Chicken Lo mein, not bad, first time we ordered it, but again kinda bland. I will give than another try, only because this is the first time we had such a bad experience. By the way, we ordered 2 hours ahead, so it wasn't that we ordered last minute. We ordered delivery and it was delivered

Love me some Lucky Bamboo in Ankeny. Pictured is the Empress Shrimp and the Mongolian Chicken (spice level 3). The service is always friendly and everything I've tried there has been delicious. Hubby got the Teriyaki Bowl but dove in before I could take a picture. He said that it was as good as the JC Mall teriyaki. If you get the "special" meals, then it comes with your choice of entree plus egg roll, crab rangoon and soup of the day. They also serve Pho!!

Hole in the wall in the best possible way! Tried this spot for dinner last week, I was impressed with the large portion of the special size. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. Drinks are self serve as well. We ran into an issue where part of our food was delayed and they brought out the wrong entree at first. Would have been nice to have a both dishes brought out at the same time- mine was delayed another 15 min from when the other was brought out.

Cashew Chicken "special," with Crab Rangoon, Egg Roll, and Fried Rice.

1st time visit to Lucky Bamboo Asian Cuisine in Ankeny this past Saturday, and I'm telling you right now that they earned 5-stars from both of us. You order at the counter, so like many restaurants such as these, I'd suggest looking at the menu online before you get there. SO MANY dishes to choose from, but we opted with one of the "special" dishes, as they all come with soup of day, egg roll, rangoon, and your choice of white or fried rice. I got Cashew Chicken (pic), and my wife got orange Chicken. You seat yourself, and here's a bit of a warning. If it's crowded, which it was on this noon hour, it can be rather noisy due to the low ceilings (not Lucky Bamboo's fault if you ask me.) So, if you go, and if it's crowded, be aware ... the excellent food will make up for it! So, how about the restrooms? If you follow me, you know I checkout the restrooms for my reviews, but in this case I saw that a man had just taken his 2 kids into the men's room, so I thought I'd wait 'til I got home. Next time. You gotta check out the Lucky Bamboo in Ankeny!

Originally on the…read moresouth side of town (1980s), the restaurant moved to its currently location bringing some of its character, and all of its great flavors, with it. Jade Garden offers a menu full of traditional flavors from the cuisine, and some upscaled, but familiar, Americanized dishes for those who prefer them. This is a food court Chinese food joint. Everyone has their favorites but if you want to try some of of what might be considered signature items from Jade Garden's menu, you can't go wrong with their hot and sour soup, potstickers, and egg rolls (which are uniquely flavored and not over-cabbaged). A meal there would not be complete without a serving of beef with black bean sauce. Or their Sizzling Beef. Tough choice - I'd better order both... Things to know: * It is not a bad idea with all Chinese restaurants to visit with your wait person if you have food allergies. * If you like things spicy, as for some freshly prepared hot oil be brought to your table. The noise level was high as there was a good amount of people here today and they were making lots of noise at the grill. Even though the grill was hopping there were a good number of open tables. As I reported before, 5 stars for the waitress. She was quick, attentive and helpful with any questions. It really speaks volumes for the staff to continuously have good reviews. I wasn't hungry enough to have the buffet and didn't think I would eat my fill of what it cost. We decided to get the Taste of Bounty Appetizer sampler. You get 3 of each of their fried appetizers. There is crab rangoon, wantons and rolls. The sampler was good. All items were fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce. I also ordered a house salad to have with the appetizer. The waitress really talked up the made in house ranch so I took the bait. The salad was just iceberg chunks, couple cucumber slices, tomatoes and croutons. The ranch was really good. She also brought a bowl of white rice to go with the buffet purchase, but you really don't need it with all the other filler options up there. I slowly enjoyed my food while my husband got his moneys worth at the buffet. Lots of hungry people this visit. Hubby did a different flavor each time he went up there. He mixes it up as much as he can. If you think you will eat your fill through the line its not a bad deal. The options outside the buffet are limited. GF and allergy friendly.
