A neighbor had mentioned about Phoenix having great asian food but I didn't get a chance to try it until I ordered from here through Grubhub recently. I ordered the cashew chicken lunch special and the Singapore rice noodles. The food arrived sealed which I really appreciated to ensure that my food was not tampered with during transit. The cashew chicken tasted really good. I wish it came with more steamed rice though. The lunch special came with soup, crab rangoon and egg roll, all of which I enjoyed. The Singapore rice noodles was really spicy and had a lot of curry flavor. It was good even though I'm used to less spice and less curry. This is a delivery review so I can't say anything about the physical building. The empress chicken was actually really flavorful and the chicken was breaded nicely, not too much and the sauce wasn't overly sweet. The pad tai on the other hand was subpar for us, the noodles were gummy, there was very little chicken and it didn't have any real sauce to it. I did try the sesame balls for the first time and they were fire. Definitely an add on for next time. read more

Lol The Yu Hsiang beef I received today was really good but I've certainly had some ups and downs with PA... Going to leave it at three stars for being solid my last two orders. The food was OK, it just seems like their set up would be better as carry out, so I will leave this on my carry out options for the future. Nothing wrong with the service, just an observation. Szechuan green beans - a little sweet for my taste but I do like the pickled vegetable slices mixed in. Adds a salty flavor as well. We seem to be obsessed with trying green beans at every Chinese restaurant we dine at. Each one is slightly, or very, different! We're used to Mandarin Grill's but it's fun to try these at every place we go. Shrimp snow peas - I'm a sucker for snow peas and this dish had great flavor, plenty of shrimp, good sauce. Wings - meh. Nothing to write home about, would've been better with a sauce of some sort. Potstickers - good sauce, thick skin (some people like thin potsticker skins). I like both and these were just fine, not killer and not bad. Hot sauce is not spicy at all, bummer. Hot & Sour soup - better than some places. We've been coming here since they opened. The food and prices were wonderful.Service (staff) was better.Now I feel it's time to tell everyone how horrible this restaurant and owners/ staff have become. First about a year ago I got charged twice for the same order and I tried to tell the owner,after arguing with me for 15 minutes I just said forget it.Then a few months ago they changed my delivery order and didn't tell me.Its because they were out of what I wanted/ paid for and didn't bother to call me and tell me.Tonight I ordered again(stupidly) and forgot to add spicy mustard in my order.Its always been free with an order.When I called to ask for some she said it'll be 50 cents apiece.wth! So when I received my food I have to tell you I don't like hot or super spicy food but this food was SO bland and horrible I threw it away.I even tried adding salt and garlic still not acceptable. And we ordered 2 of the same plates and the size difference was way different.Then also when I looked at my receipt I was charges a creditcardfee,a service fee and delivery fee.No where on their site does it tell you this.I am tired of them adding extra fees and so rude and now the food has declined so much..Im sorry to say this but we won't be going there ever again. The rice was wet and mushy and had a very bad taste. My chicken was overcooked and crunchy and had a weird taste. The beef was also overcooked and had a bad taste also. Ordered takeout tonight. Got the beef chow main, sesame shrimp, plain Lo mien and sugar balls. When it was delivered and opened I noticed the the chow mien had no noodles. It was all sauce and mixed veg with about 8 pieces of beef. Called the restaurant to let them know what happened and proceeded to get told that chow mien doesn't have noodles and it's all vegetables. And that the small bag of fried wontons (usually for soup) were crispy fried noodles. Maybe I'm wrong but every time I google chow mien it has noodles. Egg rolls were gross, didn't like getting lied to over the phone and sugar balls were good. Definitely won't eat here again read more

I was craving some Chinese and had seen that a new location was added in Waukee. I stopped in and noticed they have some good priced combo meals for both lunch and dinner. I ordered the Orange Chicken which came with soup, an egg roll, crab rangoon and rice. The lady behind the counter told me it would be 5 min and I thought "sure...only 5 min!?" but it was literally that short. The chicken was moist and had great flavor. We didn't receive the food we ordered. We were missing sugar ball dessert. They didn't give us enough silverware. It was already cold by the time it arrived over an hour after we ordered. Online ordering says 10 percent off that was not honored . We called and the manager called us back 15 minutes later which was cool but they got frustrated and hung up on us for simply wanting a refund for the missing items. Got some Kung Pao beef here for lunch and a side order of crab ragoons. Lunch comes with soup, egg roll, and crab ragoon for around $7.50. So you are getting a pretty good deal. Food was OK. Kung Pao was a bit lacking in flavor and vegetables were a bit mushy. Soup needed some salt also. Crab ragoons were the highlight of the show and had plenty of filling and were the perfect texture. I've ate here before and their Chinese dishes are always OK, but their beef noodle soup is really good. So don't set your bar too high. It's a descent local Chinese restaurant. read more

Good food, quick and friendly service, and a nice new clean place. When we stopped by, we were the only ones there around 7-ish PM. While we were eating, I heard a lot of phone orders come in and a few people picking up. My sister and I had hot tea, an order of spring rolls(2), crab rangoons(6), and shared a dinner meal of sesame chicken. I was craving Chinese food tonight so I looked up take out places on google and found this. But not only does it have take out but it also has delivery. We got two chicken egg rolls, two pork egg rolls, sesame chicken, and general Taos chicken. The chicken egg roll was a little bland and had a funky taste but the sesame chicken was good. Phoenix Chinese is awesome!! I ordered the beef and broccoli with the fried rice and an order of their crab ragoons cuz of course with me I have to always get those with my Chinese food. The gentleman came to my house with an amazing attitude and of course I tipped him as much as I possibly could and I did apologize cuz it was a last minute order and realized they were closing soon as he got there. He still was very sweet about it. I started with my favorite, my crab ragoons which were out of this world!! Very flavorful filling and perfect crunch but not too much crunch with the breading OMG loved!! then I went for my beef and brocolli. It has this really yummy sauce underneath it that made it that much better. It again had great flavor and was cooked very well. The fried rice mixed with it was great and I was happy that they put a little carrots and spinach in with the beef and broccoli which I wasn't used to getting extra stuff like that with it. Overall for me probably being the last order of the night for them when with a lot of places makes the food quality low was just the opposite with them. The food was amazing even though I had ordered it towards the end of the night and I was really surprised how good this food was! For a last minute Chinese restaurant near me this one has scored with me! I'm so happy to have this amazing place here close to me. I have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant close to me here for awhile cuz I love Chinese and I also have only lived in the area for 7-8 months. I will continue to keep coming here whenever I get my Chinese food cravings, which are pretty often. I will not ever order food again from this place and it has nothing to do with the food (it was good) but when my delivery order was left outside my apartment door at my request to maintain social distancing and I retrieved it my personal information (name, entire credit card #, expiration date, cvc #, billing address) was printed on the receipt that was taped to the outside of the delivery bag. When I called and talked to the manager he apologized and said he forgot to cut that off. When I told him that it was unacceptable to expose my information like that he asked what I expected him to do. I suggested how about reimbursement for my food. He said with surprise (alarm} in his voice "you mean you want free food"?! I said I thought that would be a good gesture on his part. Solid average Chinese food. I called in an order for delivery. After repeating myself three times the lady on the other end got my order and address. The food arrived in 45 minutes even though I was told an hour and a half. The food was hot when we received it. I do have two problems though. One is the cost. $11 for a chicken entree I think is a bit high. Second is the size of the entree. I would have liked more for what I payed. I doubt I will be ordering from there again. read more

Phoenix's food is very good. Their chicken is amazingly tender, and just about everything I've ordered from them has been enjoyable. (The sole exception is that my wife doesn't care for their egg foo young, because they have a one size fits all egg component and the customization is added on top rather than being cooked into the egg portion.) I'd have added at least one star, maybe two, except for what happened to us this evening. We have moved, and so hours before supper we called ahead to make absolutely sure that we were in range for delivery. The gentleman we talked with assured us that we were. At 5:39 p.m. we placed our order for delivery through the web site they use for orders. Just about an hour later we got a call from Phoenix, saying that they were low on drivers, and could we pick up the food, which they hadn't started cooking at the time? We pointed out that we had called earlier and were assured that they could deliver. We asked if we could get a discount in exchange for having to come get the food ourselves, but what we were offered wasn't all that much. We asked them to cancel the order. We are very disappointed. This isn't *quite* as bad as our experiences in Pittsburgh, where we would call a restaurant to place an order and only later find out they lacked drivers when we called them, but still, we thought we were going to get Phoenix's quality Chinese food, including a dish that was new to us, and then brought up short. Perhaps the lesson we should learn from this is to not trust the web site they use for orders (chinesemenu.com), at least until they have established a way to keep up with conditions in real time at the place you are trying to order from. If we were told up front that they can't deliver rather than only being told an hour later, we could have made other plans, no big deal. We just don't want to have this experience again, and will always remember this when we consider ordering from Phoenix in the future. read more

New to the area, looking for Chinese delivery in Waukee. Discovered this place on Yelp. Pros: delivered fast and hot. Cons: Everything else. Ordered General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken, extra spicy. White rice tasted old. My Orange Chicken was mildly spicy. And it was funky. The breading was soggy and the chicken was dry and not cut well. There was some inedible pieces in it. My wife said hers was "not impressive." I guess we will not be getting Chinese delivery in the future. Will be pick up only and somewhere else. read more
