We tried the 4 bean soup and the turkey burger bc a couple of friends suggested we give it a try. The soup was good, didn't need the corn, but it was good, especially if you lo e beans. The burger was not a patty, it was real ground turkey and it was a nice size, tasty also. I recently spent a Friday afternoon out here with some friend, talking soccer, beer, dogs and Christ - not necessarily in that order. Service at the bar was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. We enjoyed a tasty hot pretzel appetizer, a special Barley Oak cheeseburger, and a Reuben sandwich, which may have been the star of the show. Old Fashioneds were the drinks of the evening. The Barly Oak is a great place to meet friends for drinks and eats, or just to watch the sun go down over the lake. Highly recommended!

We found that was our option. But, really, alcohol seemed to be why people go there. However, if that's all you get, you are missing out. My wife and I both really enjoy led our catfish po' boys. Balanced flavor, great condiments, not too much lettuce. The place had about 10 other people and when someone came in and asked for the catfish, it was all gone. The atmosphere was quiet enough to talk, if with a futbol match on the television. The single gentleman tending the bar and grill seemed really angry at something because he kept swearing and didn't seem happy to serve us. But we don't hold that against him. It just made things a little awkward. Overall, not bad.

Yet, it seems quite popular with locals and was fairly full for a Tuesday Trivia Night. I ordered a Pimm's cup since Pimm's was on the shelf - the bartender looked confused and told me they don't have any of the ingredients to make one. I changed my order to a flavored vodka - they don't stock any. I ended up ordering a Vodka & 7, but received a Vodka Soda. Were the drinks cheap? Not so much. Was the service friendly? Not so much. I ordered food hoping this was the redeeming feature of the bar. I ordered a steak sandwich at $18 - the service time was quick but the sandwich didn't have much flavor - it was a dry, difficult to bite through thin steak with not much flavor to speak of. The tater tots were crispy and hot and I loved the Brussel Sprouts; they were doused excessively in the dressing but I liked it. There is a nice patio out back - they had fans in this area which is always appreciated. This bar just didn't have the stock and amenities that many other bars in the area do have .
