So here's the story. We actually found this place purely by chance. We live over in the city and this establishment is on the West Bank - normally that means we wouldn't really go, because getting over the bridge can be a hassle. But we saw a post on Facebook about a free beer tasting event with Port Orleans brewery, and decided to head over. We're really glad we stopped by! I'll open with the only con. This bar is not in Orleans Parish, so that means smoking is allowed inside. I am not a smoker, and I normally dislike the smell. HOWEVER! This bar is a large space with high ceilings and good ventilation - I was sitting right near someone smoking a cigarette and didn't feel like it was smoky or hazy at all. Now, for the positives. The beer selection is EXPANSIVE! There is something for everyone here. Also, the space is so clean and well maintained. I'm picky about bathrooms and theirs are spotless. Not to mention, there's pool, darts, slots, and one of those fancy jukeboxes. Really felt well maintained and upscale. Also, the people were friendly! The bartender Tiffany and the owner Nathan were really wonderful, and the regulars were welcoming. We didn't feel like sore thumbs in what was clearly a neighborhood spot, which felt nice. Also, Nathan took the time to let us know about the improvements coming to the spot. Keep your eyes peeled for the 23 tap system and the full kitchen coming soon.

The bartender was so funny, and offered recommendations as we tried to decide what to drink. The race was on with volume and it was such a great place to watch it.

Fast forward to 2026 Picture it! It's 11:00am, i have a dad bod, bald and in a t-shirt, joggers and comfortable shoes. Until today, 1996 was the last time i visited Fat Harry's. I am on a wing kick lately so i figured i would stop in for lunch, have a beer and some wings. The super nice bartender hands me a menu and gets me a beer with the quickness. I see wings on the menu are "market price". WTF!?!? Are wings lobster now? I mean does the wing market fluctuate that much that we have to adjust on a daily basis?!? Seems ridiculous. Any way i ordered my 10 market price buffalo wings (by the way it was 1.60 per wing which seems a tad high but not too crazy) and they were solid, not quite as crisp as i would prefer but had good flavor. Also the drum stick to flat ratio was off. I got like 8 drumsticks to 2 flats! Thats not cool. Im a flats guy so it's got to 5 to 5 or heavy on flats! Thats me just being nit-picky. There were 2 guys that for some reason congregated behind me. (It was almost empty inside, why they couldn't find another corner is beyond me) They were bro'ing it up talking about 10's rubbing them down with aloe. These guys looked more like 2026 me so maybe they were reminiscing about the 1996 versions of themselves too. If you are an old fart like me, go get lunch and have a beer just stay away when the lights go down and the college kids come back.

The outdoor space has a relaxed atmosphere where you could enjoy a drink and take a break from the busier parts of the city, while the indoor area still had plenty of energy when you wanted something a little more lively. They have a second floor level that works great for private events too. The drinks are excellent, and the bartenders did a great job putting together quality cocktails in a laid-back environment. We'll definitely be back for another round of oysters and cocktails. A perfect Sunday in New Orleans.

We were desperate to cool off. Their AC was so cool and necessary during the heat wave that we had just spent a couple hours walking through. 2. This place served best rum punch I've ever had. Oh my goodness. Turning down a second one was hard!! 3. I've never had a server who appeared as invested in our order as our guy. I developed an old lady crush on this sweet man! We told him that we are both vegetarians and one is a post bariatric surgery puzzle. He was so sweet and supportive that I would return here weekly if we were local! He made sure we had what we needed. 4. We ordered the roti, two tacos (Rasta & cauliflower) with coconut rice and plantain as the sides. The tacos were both so extra, so yummy, the roti was tasty- but the sweetness on top confused me- we loved the plantain but not the rice. We'd be back in a heartbeat. I want to try every vegetarian option here!
