Great Greek pizza!! We're driving from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania. We stopped to get gas and saw Pizza palace next to the Wheel 5 gas station. The menu is enormous!! We were so surprised to see such a large menu . I haven't had good Greek pizza in a long time. It did not disappoint. Both me and my friend got food poisoning the same night after eating this pizza. I called and the manager and he said if I come in person and speak to the boss I can get a refund. I went in person, and before I got my money back the boss was extremely rude, accusatory, and argumentative. I will never be coming back to this place, and everyone who sees this review should re consider where they order. Ordered two large pizzas via DoorDash. First large lasagna pizza I forgot to order that one thin crust. This is the pizza that made this review one less star. The lasagna pizza was still very good however for our personal taste it lacked beef. Our cheese pizza though was sooooo good. It came hot so the cheese was nice and melted and had a nice pull to it. It's so sad to see this place constantly empty. There was a time when you'd have to wait in line for a table. The new owner didn't continue what made the original owners so successful: low prices. This is not a fancy place by any means and should not be charging $20 for pasta with butter and cheese. All prices except seafood and steak should be BELOW $20 and many should be below $10. Food quantity: the previous owners had very generous portions with specials that included soup, salad and a side and drink. You got a lot of value. The current owner even skimps on fries. Customers notice and don't come back! Quality: make food you are proud of and make it consistent. This is a place where you expect delicious comfort food, nothing fancy. Newtown has a lot of options now so my recommendation is differentiate on the values Jimmy and his brother delivered on. Also get rid of the cash discount and weird prices. No one cares. read more

Still trying out local pizza places to see what our family likes for takeout options. Newtown Pizza Palace was our latest one this past weekend. They have a pretty big menu offering way more than just pizza... so if you have non-pizza eaters, they have you covered! We kept with the pizza theme and got one plain cheese, a pepperoni, and sausage and onion. They have a more Greek style crust (although you can ask for thin) but we opted for their usual thick style as our boys also like this. The pizzas were very good, much like other Greek style pizza we have had. We also got a souvlaki salad and a side of their tzatziki sauce for pita bread. The salad was great and so was the tzatziki sauce. Very fresh and authentic ingredients. We would definitely want to try their gyro based on this. Overall this was a success and we will be back! I did a take out order since I had no dinner plans for tonight and it was on my way home from work. I've had the pizza here before and was always impressed with the unique crust style that they do here. I'm not one to eat the crust of the pizza but this one I always eat! It's extra crispy and the toppings pretty much go to almost the outer edges leaving just a thin area of crispy crust. Their sauce has a unique flavor as well which I enjoy. The dining area looked like just your typical pizza joint dining with enough seats if you want to come with your family, it felt cozy. My pizza was pretty fast and ready for pick up as soon as I arrived and it was still piping hot. I would order here again! read more

Food price / quality (value) rating 9.5. this place uses high quality ingredients and everything is cooked properly. Their Pizza is a Greek style pan pizza with a wonderfully thin crisp crust. I've gotten probably 30 pizzas here in the last 18 months and they've all been perfect! High quality cheeses and meats and generous toppings are always the norm. This is the only pizza I've been eating lately. I would recommend the meatball and hot pepper Pizza or the sausage and hot pepper pizza and always get a large. this is the first time I've ever experienced bad pizza. Didn't even know that could happen. Asked for thin crust, it's certainly not thin and just DRENCHED oil. Whole thing is soggy. The cheese is almost hard and very little sauce. This really was disappointing. The garlic knots are not garlic-ing. Like at all. They're honestly just bread knots and what I assume might be some garlic powder? Very dry and bland. No real garlic or butter or oil. My husband and I are currently sick and decided to order take out to make tonight easier. And it's safe to say we won't be finishing it. Don't be fooled by the good reviews. Tonite for dinner, we ordered Fried Calamari and 2 Mediterranean Salads. We've ordered food several times before and it was great, this time, we were very disappointed. My husband and I went here for lunch a couple weeks ago. The food was okay but really no different than any other pizza joint in any other town. The thing about this place that ticked me off the most is that they charge an extra fee for everything if you want to pay with a debit card or a credit card. What I went to the register to pay my check, they told me the price on my bill was going to be more expensive because I was using my card. I told them that in the state of Connecticut it's illegal to do that. They didn't seem to care and they didn't take the extra fee off the check. I'm just so confused by all the high ratings for this place. I will say I have only tried the pizza but there's nothing good. I picked up a plain slice today for 3.60. It was presented to me in a small Styrofoam container 30 seconds later. It looks like it was cooked 7 days ago and then thrown in the microwave. The lighting in there is like a pub (dismal) and the man behind the counter has no patience and was not overly friendly. Ok, if you're going to be called "Pizza Palace" then you better live up to it. This place is more of a mix-of-everything-oh-and-pizza-palace. We came in for a quick slice but everything is sit down or take out. We asked if we could order by the slice and they said yes. It took a while to be made so we might as well just ordered a pie. We got 5 slices for almost $24. The slices are small and massively non filling. They said their slices are big enough and they were not. This is the most expensive, horriblest slice I've ever had. The margarita was LOADED with garlic. I might as well have ordered garlic bread. Basically it's all raw garlic, greased in oil, the crispiest crispy dough with no softness to it. Felt like eating bruschetta with all the crunch. Stay away from ordering pizza and don't be fooled by their name. Worst pizza palace. Not worth it. As far as the other food I don't know and I don't care. I'm just disappointed at being deceived by the reviews and the name. This pizza SUCKS. There's just no other way to put it. I should've known better to not order anything from here when i walked in. They're all rushed, yelling and it feels like some kind of mixed Greek diner. Nothing authentic. Anyways, pizza is horrible. My boyfriend and I were on a road trip back home and wanted a place to grab some pizza. When we looked for food options that's wouldn't take us too far from the route, Newtown Pizza Palace came up so we thought we'd give it a try. Best. Decision. Ever. First off, the owner and staff are ridiculously friendly. You can tell this is a neighborhood favorite and a family run business. From looking to grab a quick slice, we found ourselves wishing we had more time to sit down and actually enjoy the atmosphere- that's how sweet everyone was! Second, the food was absolutely delicious. The pizza was very nice and the owner was kind enough to give us their homemade Italian dressing to go as people "love it with the pizza" - he wasn't wrong; it was amazing! Additionally, he gave us some free Baklava dessert for the road and him and his son wished us a safe journey back home. The kindness from him is evident throughout the whole business. Last, they were incredibly flexible. At the last second, literally as I was about to pay, I realize they have grape leaves. I ask if there's anyway they could quickly add them to order and without a hesitation the owner personally went back to the kitchen and quickly fixed it up for me. I was so grateful for this because I knew it was last minute and they were SO delicious. Homemade and scrumptious! TL;DR - the food is absolutely delicious and the service is 5+ stars. I've been going to Pizza Palace since I moved to town in 1995 and it has always been my family's go to place after games, school events, etc. So my son and I went there last week for a quick meal and boy "what happened "? Our bill was over $70 for a small salad pizza (and I mean small- about 10 inches, 4 slices AND $16.40???) C'mon man! A small buf. Chic salad, small souvlaki salad, a soda and 1/2 carafe wine!!! The $70 DID NOT include tip AND if you pay with a credit card it's an additional 4% more! I know Covid-19 has destroyed restaurants but this mismanagement will now contribute to the place going under. I'm a comedian that before COVID-19 hit, traveled the world about 27 weeks out of the year. I remember flying into White Plains once and calling in an order of my favorite pie. A small pepperoni with hot peppers and mushrooms. it was totally closing time! And I was still 20 minutes away. The owner said "don't worry, wait for you" and stayed open late just for me. The ovens run hotter than your average "joint" ( around 500 degrees) and the ever-friendly owner ALWAYS buys the best cheese. Even when the prices go up (I heard the whole story.)
