Pizzeria Melrose -- Exceptional Food, Charming Ambiance, and Outstanding Hospitality…read more Pizzeria Melrose is a true gem, combining a lovely ambiance, excellent food, a wonderful wine selection, and customer service that genuinely sets it apart. A special mention to Alex, the manager, whose exceptional attention and willingness to go above and beyond made a lasting impression. His dedication to creating a positive customer experience is truly commendable. The food is equally deserving of praise. Their Margherita pizza is a beautiful example of how simplicity, when paired with exceptional ingredients and thoughtful preparation, can be elevated to something extraordinary. My newly turned 100-year-old mother was absolutely delighted by its delicious flavor and quality, making the experience particularly special. I also had the pleasure of discovering their wonderful wine selection while waiting for my takeout order, thanks to Alex! By way of an aside, an Uber Eats delivery over the weekend took an hour, and the pizza arrived cold. After that experience, I decided to collect my order in person. Remarkably, even after reheating, the pizza was delicious and retained its wonderful flavor--a testament to the quality of the ingredients. Pizzeria Melrose deserves recognition for its food, inviting atmosphere, and, above all, the exceptional hospitality Alex exemplifies. I look forward to returning and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates quality and genuine service.

For the most part, good. We sat on the terrasse at 5:30 on a Saturday and shared salads and pizzas…read more(and wine). The food presentation was excellent and a few substitutions were allowed, which we appreciated very much. Pizzas are great, but maybe a little thin in the middle, weighed down by so many toppings. Nice selection of wines, with something to please everyone. We went with an Aligoté at $60 / bottle. Service was very, very attentive... perhaps overly attentive, with 3 different people checking on us, breaking up the conversation and whisking plates away that weren't entirely finished. We had to ask the servers to stop refilling our wine glasses, gave us a feeling of being rushed. And I know this is a personal pet peeve of mine, but servers please, can we stop asking diners " are we still working on this? " This question really ticks me off and makes me feel like a horse at a trough. I'm not at work, I'm trying to enjoy the meal you prepared for me at my own pace. Lastly, one of us did not enjoy the calamari... wondered if it was frozen as it had a fishy, not-fresh taste. I will say the server appreciated the feedback and removed this from the bill.

This was a well know, much loved, staple business in the community. I begged him for years to give me the recipe for his Souvlaki sauce. He never gave in. I flew to Montreal and paid a visit just to see Angelo and have some pizza like the old days with him, and even knowing I lived in BC, he still wouldn't give me that dam recipe for his secret sauce. I ended up buying an entire empty 2Ltr Pepsi bottle full of that sauce and brining it back to BC with me on the flight, securely packed in a back so as to not lose a drop. Again, thank you for the many, many years of great customer service, great food, providing my wife and an awesome place to go for date nights. Im sickened by these reviews and to hear a lifetime of work went out the door with Carlos. Much Love Chef Swan, RS Vancouver BC

They could blame the excessive number of seats, but peeking into the open kitchen, it became very obvious where the problem was. Throughout the night, the service staff can be seen perpetually apologizing to each table. The wait staff truly tried their best, but when the kitchen is disorganized and run by guys who truly seem to not give a damn, the wait staff, and ultimately the patrons suffer. The caprice of the evening was when I suggested to the kitchen that they cover to post tips their wait staff are losing due to their inability to get an order out in under 45 minutes. Their response was "Get the f"*k out of here loser". Was I over the top? Perhaps, but the kitchen and management should be aware that if you are going to populate a terrace with more seats than the kitchen can competently service, there will be a problem. At 900 degrees a pizza cooks in about 2 minutes. Getting a pizza from order to table should not take 45 minutes. And to be served a pizza with an overly charred and bitter crust is unacceptable. I truly feel for the wait staff. They are being undermined by the back end operation. AITA?

Apparently we went to Little Italy tonight so Mum and Dad could eat pasta…read more I went because I was promised Italy. As an Italian Greyhound, I assumed this was some sort of cultural heritage excursion. Pizzeria Napoletana sits right on the corner with a huge outdoor dining area, and on a beautiful evening almost everyone was outside. More importantly, there were several other dogs dining with their humans. Finally. My people. We all seemed to understand our responsibilities: sit quietly, look adorable and remain on high alert for anything that might accidentally hit the ground. One of the coolest things about this restaurant is that it's bring your own wine. There's even a wine shop directly across the street that they recommend. Mum and Dad went over, selected their bottle and brought it back to dinner. I respect a restaurant that makes the humans bring their own beverages while I bring my own personality. Then the food arrived. Mum had the Penne Romana, while Dad went with spaghetti pomodoro. Two enormous plates of pasta landed on the table. I received zero penne. Zero spaghetti. For anyone keeping track, I am Italian. This felt personal. Then Mum decided she wasn't finished and ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert. Obviously I couldn't have chocolate, so for once I will concede that withholding food from me was an appropriate management decision. Possibly the first of this trip. The restaurant itself is large inside, but the outdoor area is really what made the evening for me. It's lively, casual and clearly comfortable having dogs around. There wasn't a water bowl brought to our table and there's no dog menu, but they do have a huge doggie water bowl outside beside one of the restaurant's best features: A tiny vintage Fiat covered completely in a gorgeous blue-and-white Italian tile design. Naturally, Mum made me pose with it. I have to admit... We looked good together. One small Italian icon standing next to another. Dogba's verdict: 4.7 paws out of 5. Italian heritage experience: excellent Number of fellow canine diners: encouraging Humans bringing their own wine: bizarre but efficient Pasta dropped on floor: disappointingly little Communal dog water station: appreciated Tiny Italian car: tiny Italian dog approved Chocolate mousse: apparently I'm "not allowed" Respect shown to actual Italian at table: needs improvement Would return. Next time I'm bringing my own wine too. By wine, I mean chicken.

Free parking and it was completely packed. Certainly a good sign of a nice restaurant. We arrived 10 min early but the table was delayed by the last round of patrons. We ordered pizzas, Panozzo (big size pizza pocket stuffed with ham, eggplants, and mozzarella), calamari, cheese, a few fettuccine, and a couple of Martini. Among those items, pizzas stood out pretty well. Not only the taste and size but also the toppings as well as the firewood aroma. Beautifully done. Highly recommended. Cool ambiance for dining with great music. Great vibe. The servers were nice and friendly. On top of typical Montreal-style small restaurant tables, this place also offers long tables to accommodate bigger groups.
