The train has left the station... Been coming to this Pizza King since my nieces were little(now 36&32). I couldn't believe how dirty it was. The plexiglass door that is used to get the drinks off the train was just nasty, greasy, dirty, not cleaned routinely. The women's restroom was dirty as well. The pizza was delicious, as were the breadsticks. Just hard to get past how the place has went downhill. We visit this location every Christmas break. The pizza is always good and the train delivering your drinks is always fun and nostalgic for this location. I would like to see some deep cleaning and updating. There is a lot of built-up, grime and dirt around the train area. It's just over all very outdated and not very clean. The pizza is always delicious!!! That part they have down pat. That's why we keep coming back year after year. Go in for dinner and asked for two extra breadsticks. Paid for it but never received. Not a big deal, asked for them again and they accused of us stealing. Manager got in to a yelling match with us for saying we are liars trying to get free food. I'm sorry sir, it is two breadsticks I could probably pay for with quarters under the booth. Why would I need to lie? Said they have us on camera but nothing shows!! What fools. We have been coming here for decades. Although service has gone down hill we've stayed loyal. I will never be back, mentioned we will be writing a bad review and the manager said "no one looks at yelp" and "I'll go find your family and post them up telling places to never serve you". Pizza King in Avon is a local treasure. It's been in this location for over 30 years and has had its ups and downs but it is definitely back on the upswing. The revamped menu offers the classics and low prices, but adding new additions like cauliflower crust. While some parts of the restaurant show its age, the overall aesthetic is charming as ever. Kids young and old can appreciate getting their drinks delivered by train. This is a must visit with kids or anyone who loves trains. read more

I have not had Pizza King since I was a child, but my fiance INSISTED we get them for Super Bowl Sunday. Glad I listened to him.... just this once :) We live in Plainfield and the closest Pizza King is in Avon. Not wanting to drive with the Superbowl Sunday crazies, I wanted to get delivery. The store does not offer delivery, but you can order thru doordash. I was a little bummed about this since you can't make customizations thru Doordash (says store has not chosen to accept them), but hey, you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. We ordered a 14" Supreme pizza and added tomatoes, Buffalo wings, breadsticks, and basically a sauce buffet. The pizza brought me back to childhood. It was so good; perfect amount of greasiness, on a little square. I was nervous about getting wings here, but I have no idea why. The Buffalo flavor was perfect- not too spicy, and the wings had a ton of meat. Breadsticks were a bit of a bummer, nothing unique and a little bland. A little cold too, while everything else wasn't. I believe it was because they came in a little baggy vs a cardboard box, so my suggestion would be to pack them in a cardboard box as well! We had all the sauces we ordered- and the cheese sauce is the best I've had from a pizza place in a hot minute!! Tip- the "King sauce" tastes like a mild Buffalo. We had to order it out of curiosity, and google was of no prevail. I will 100% order from them again. Sorry I've waited so long to try yall again! It's the Pizza King name that drew me in. From my years of growing up in Muncie, Indiana and devouring Pizza King weekly. I was warned that it was sub par, but better than nothing. Well maybe not. The train themed restaurant has been in Avon, Indiana for over a decade. It may be the furthest PK South of Noblesville. Parking is plentiful, but some debris was in the lot. Walk up tidy. The restaurant has a sun room open space in the front with table and chairs. Everything else is booth that's pretty cool for noise and privacy with its high walls. The sign had seat yourself and we grabbed menus. The dining room has serious signs of wear with the wood around the bottom booths. The attraction for kids is the train track that delivers drinks. There is pay TV too! When ordering it's not ring the King as in other locations. It's push a button that has a camera. The menu items are the same that you would find at others in East Central Indiana. Two lunch specials were placed. This includes salad, 7 inch pizza and drink. The woman on speaker was nice and understood the order. Drinks were quickly delivered by rail car. The only interaction with wait staff is when food is delivered which took place in less than 15 minutes. Considering the restaurant was dead I guess it's an ok turnaround. The female staff dropped off the food with silverware, but no napkins which are evidently self serve. A poor policy. The staff had no smile. The salad with ranch dressing had crisp iceberg lettuce. The croutons almost broke a tooth. The pepperoni pizza was blah and overly salty. Not the real Pizza King I grew up on. This is one of very few that still has a train that delivers your drinks to you. I remember as a kid and my kids and now grandkids can enjoy. I noticed they only have two stars but we have been going back regularly now as it has changed. The pizza is on point. It's crazy how I've spent decades of my life not really going here. My kids love the train that brings the drinks and it's the only pizza place that has something interactive like that for the kids so we've gone often lately. I love their pizzas. Been going here since I was a kid love the pizza and love the breadsticks definitely missing out if you haven't had it.

This was my first time here and it was awesome! My fiancé worked at the one in Lafayette when he was younger so it was a very nostalgic moment for him. The fact that they had the train and the booth set it off for him! There is this cute little train that brings around your drinks and you open it through this glass door. Then a person brings you any appetizer you order. You order through an intercom and then they call you up to get your food when it's ready. It's really great if you don't want to talk to a server because you don't have one! They also have TVs at each booth that you use quarters to activate and you have the remote! It was definetly a different experience for me but it was really cool! The food was really great too. The garlic bread with cheese was incredible! I get it, it's fun to pile on and throw shade on the Pizza King because it's the same carpeted walls and your initials are still carved into a piece of booth somewhere from 1989 but I had a really good PK experience. They were social distancing by only filling up every other booth (which I didn't really understand ) and the famous train was not bringing the sodas but the server that brought the drinks could tell the kids were disappointed so he went back and took the train on a little victory lap through the window. The breadsticks and cheese were good, as always and OMG the pizza was not over salted to the point of being inedible. They still have things on the menu that baffle me like a hot ham and cheese sandwich. If I went on a date with a girl to Pizza King and she ordered a ham sandwich, I'd get the hell outta there. Yeah, I get it, there are teenagers working there and you kind of wonder who is in charge but I didn't have any problems. My sub was not anything like I've had before, the ones I have had from other pizza king's were baked in the oven, tomato sauce and cheese melted over the meats wrapped in foil..always so so good. I'm pretty sure this place opened when I was a kid, and I came here occasionally for birthday parties and such. My favorite part of this location is the train decor. The booths are decorated as such, but the best part yet - A TOY TRAIN BRINGS YOUR DRINKS! You really can't beat that. Okay, so the scenery behind the tracks is way outdated (photo of the "new" Indy airport, for example), but I can't get over the uniqueness of this. As for the food, do order a thin-crust pizza. My mom and I came once when I was like 6 and ordered a deep-dish sort of thing, and that ruined my opinion of Pizza King for a good 5 years or so. I know my analysis of that pizza should clearly be taken with a huge grain of salt, but all I remember was an inch-thick layer of tomato sauce. Gross. Anyways, get yourself a thin-crust pizza. It's cut into easy-to-handle squares, and the crust is kind of salty. Which sounds bad, but is good, and I at least get cravings for it now and then, which can only be satiated by my dear Pizza King. read more

This place has some major pros and cons. Pros: kids LOVE coming here. The drink-delivery train, arcades, and tv's in the booths are huge hits and make Pizza King the "coolest place ever!" (That's a direct quote from my five-year-old son.) Also, the pizzas are truly delicious. I like everything about them, from the crust to the cheese. Also, they are reasonably priced! Parking is easy and I've not had to wait to be seated. Cons: not the cleanest or friendliest. The pics posted on here are unfortunately accurate. I bring a wipe to sanitize the table top, order button, and door to the train. The staff (at least the evening staff)are often busy talking to each other, so they are slow to notice someone at the window. The food (other than pizza) is technically sub-par. I've ordered apps and salads here and they are not the worst, but not anything special. The salad is iceberg lettuce with a few carrots and some ranch dressing. The pretzels/cheese dip and potato skins have been lukewarm both times we've ordered them. Next time, I will just get more pizza instead, since that's what I love here!
