Good pizza and good vibes, just as good as I remember from when my parents would take the family there when they were still on Glenstone . My sister and I would play those games filled with water trying to catch the rings or balls while the pizza cooked....lots of good memories and think it's great being able to take my family out to make more. We came in town for a wedding and needed to kill some time before the ceremony. We were craving pizza and heard this was the place to be. Right as we walked in, we were greeted by the owner that went above and beyond to ensure we quickly had a table and knew the specials. The pizza itself was delicious! Two things to know right out of the gate: 1) Bring CASH 2) Don't screw around.. Pizza House (Haus) marks one of the ongoing stops for our Springfield area dinning/social club. It has a spacious old brick building local and the atmosphere is quaint and inviting... despite its often dodgy Commercial street address. I am a huge fan of all the rescued vintage decor and furnishings. This place is also super cheap. Two of us got out of there pleasantly full with a split 13 inch pizza for just 10 bucks (until I included the $4.25 worth of damn ATM fees)... The pizza here is quite good. It is thin crust style and cooked in a brick oven so it gets a rustic flavor and a consistency throughout. It might not be the best pizza I've ever had, but definitely the best pizza that can be had for i's modest asking price. We went for the sausage and onion pizza. The sausage was incredibly rich and flavorful. It had the character of breakfast sausage and was honestly one of the best pizza-style meat varieties that I have had. The onions were cooked under the cheese and provided a more subtle background flavor. All in all, it was simple, done well, and came out quickly. Okay, so there's a pretty good chance that a strict school master type of lady will be your server. She buzzes around the place like she has a constant fire burning under her ass even when they are not busy. So you better know what you want because this lady doesn't mess around. She is all about efficiency and accuracy... Her sternness was only broken by an obligatory smile at the end of the meal. We actually felt a little uncomfortable every time she made her way to our table... (Her character was also a source of some pretty hilarious dinner banter). The only significant downfall of this place is that they don't serve beer. This is practically a cardinal sin since nothing washes down pizza like an ice cold ale. It is painful and I hope this changes soon... or at the very least they adopt a BYOB policy. All in all, Pizza Haus is great place to bring groups of people and is definitely one of Springfield's north side hidden treasures. Next time you are craving a pie, check out this place in lieu of your usual pizza stomping ground. Oh, and come with cash! read more

Pizza House is probably my favorite place for pizza in town, other than my own kitchen. The pizza is suuuuper thin crust, basically like a cracker. The lunch special is cheap-ish (I can't remember how much it is) and you get a small salad, soft drink, and either a personal small pizza or a pizza for two to split. My favorite topping is the jalepenos. I also find the atmosphere really charming. The only downside to this place: they don't take credit cards. I would probably eat here a lot more if they did, because I barely ever carry cash. I mean, I know they're a small business and credit card fees are pricey, but it doesn't make sense to me for a restaurant in 2010 to not take any kind of card. read more

If you are looking for a local place to eat pizza, this is it! Pizza House has been a staple in Springfield for quite some time, and the charming restaurant makes all patrons feel right at home. My husband and I came here on one of our first dates and shared a 9" pizza with green peppers and pepperoni. The pizza is served fresh, thin crust, and sliced in squares. We each had been here separately, but now, we rarely go anywhere else for pizza. One could say Pizza House serves St. Louis style pizza, just without the provel cheese. We have now ventured into sharing the "Lunch for Two" special. You seriously can not beat this deal. $15 and some change for: 2 drinks, 1 large topping pizza (you can do 1/2 and 1/2 toppings OR add additional toppings for a small price), two lettuce and tomato salads (extra for cheese). We are both equally stuffed afterwards and enjoy the wait staff here greatly. Even the owners are fantastic, hard-working people in this local community. The quality of pizza never wavers greatly. In fact, we've never had a bad experience here. Quick, delicious food. Plus, you get to help yourself to free refills and if you want, a drink to take home. ps. If someone brought me a small cheese Pizza House pizza right now, I'd bestow upon them the most genuine of hugs (or the most genuine of awkward shoulder pats, if we're strangers...). Pizza House currently holds the trophy in my heart for best pizza place in Springfield, and I've been to more than I can count on my two hands. Of course, opinions will vary depending on what kind of pizza everyone inherently likes, but for me, I'm all about that ultra-thin, not-very-saucy, saltyyy pizza lyfe. Pizza House fits that bar like no other, so that's where my loyalty comes from. However, I also love their restaurant's 50's vibe - LOTS of vinyl and a green/yellow/orange/red color scheme for days - and since they've moved to Commercial Street, their space makes great use of the building's historic features (huge storefront windows and a mile-long bar). The pizza's been accurately described by another reviewer as cracker-thin - this is correct. It's very, very thin pizza, but each bite makes up in flavor what it lacks in physical depth. I like to go simple with my pizzas, so my friends and I will order a large pepperoni or cheese and absolutely annihilate it. No shame. I like pizza, okay? The problem is, I can't exactly rave about the rest of Pizza House - I love the food and the vibe, but the service is more hit or miss than consistent and the pricing is just high enough where I can't stretch my wallet enough to order it all the time. Bummer, because if I could, I totally would. Also, I could describe the salads with a shrug. To Pizza House, there ain't no party like an iceberg lettuce party. With ranch. Raise the roof. I will say that I had an *especially* positive experience a few weeks ago. I had lunch her with a customer when I was in Springfield. I had never heard of the place and so I took him at his word that I wouldn't be disappointed. When I arrived, the place was getting full and it wasn't noon yet. I grabbed table and was glad I did. When my friend arrived, he suggested the sausage pizza. I'm a little more adventurous, so I went for with everything on it. It was absolutely fantastic! My friend asked me if he could try a piece of mine because it looked great. He tried it and told me that it was awesome and then admitted that the only pizza he had ever ordered here was the sausage because the first time he came in years ago, that was what he had so he stuck with it. When he was describing the pizza, he said that it was similar to Imo's in St. Louis. This pizza blows Imo's away! When I told him that he said that he agreed but it was the only thing similar that he could think of to describe the pizza and crust. It's a thin crust pizza, but very light and not overloaded with provel. Head and shoulders above Imo's. Eat here! You'll love it! read more

I had a great experience at Pizza House! It has a cool 70-80s theme and lots of little "antique" trinkets to look at. What I loved most was that the pizza was cut into tiny little squares, so I didn't feel like I had to take giant slices. It was a lot easier to eat and I don't see that style in most places. Seriously, ordered the cheese, pepperoni and veggie pizza to get a variety and pretty much tasted the same on all fronts. Service was sub-par as well. I went in on Tuesday night around 7 p.m. with my boys, sat in the back and was essentially ignored until our food came up. It was thin crust (not my preference, but even for New York style lovers, I dont think it woulda rated TOO high...) They dont put Parm. cheese on all the tables and some lady came and asked if I was done with mine. I had a couple pieces of pizza left so I asked her to hold on a second and she got an attitude. Didnt approve of THAT but that's not the restaurant's fault. Also, they dont serve beer, which is kinda what we were looking for. We love to visit out of the way restaurants when we come through a new town. Usually, these can be found off the beaten path in downtown areas. In our recent visit to Springfield, we came across the *best* pizza place ever!! Pizza House has been in business over 60 years and I know why!! Their pizza was simple but delicious! The very thin crust was amazing!! The restaurant was full when we arrived, but we were seated in about 5 minutes. The pizza was worth the wait!! The staff was super friendly. We really liked Pizza House's pizza, and loved how different and old school it was. Our anchovy and onion choice was delicious and not something you can order everywhere. The decor was charmingly dated but attractive. We sat at an adorable vintage formica table right by the door and heard the staff sounding very frustrated when trying to seat several larger parties coming in on a Saturday afternoon. The prices seemed on the higher side, and that, combined with the sporadic yet friendly service, takes off a full star for me. I didn't see on the menu that it was 59 cents more for cheese on the tiny side salad and that sort of thing just annoys me. It's not such a big deal (and the cheese was really good) but eh, I don't love that. We'd definitely come back though! read more

We stopped by here after seeing the reviews. The ambiance is cute and clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The pizza was good and the salad was okay. We're glad we tried it but it wasn't anything super exciting. My pizza tasted like it needed salt.. but everyone loved the plain pepperoni with extra cheese. The thin crust was nice but had quite a bit of burned areas. All in all we tried it, but not sure if we would go again. read more
