But the food...uhm...not so much....at all. Chili dog. I'm all for greasy chili type chili dog. But the chili on this one was generally lousy. And the hot dog itself...again...lousy. Tots. Sometime about the tot and the oil used....they didn't work at all too well. Curly fries. This was the best thing we had. These were good enough...considering how the other menu items faired on the day. Pizza burger. The person I was with..asked what this was. The lady decided it...and she absolutely loved the burger. Stopped in here following lunch, to find a bright spot in the food scene - I succeeded! A great little place, with fantastic ice cream, and nostalgia tucked in the corner candy section. I wanted one of everything on the menu, it was hard to make my decision. Opted for a Sunday (I was actually there on a Subday and found it fitting). The staff were friendly, the shop very neat with quirky pieces of furniture. Great place to stop on Route 66 for a refreshing treat. Cakes & Creams in Branson is such a fun little treat stop if you're in town and want really yummy…read moredessert. It has that classic vacation town feeling where getting ice cream just feels like part of the whole trip. Plus they have funnel cake and how can you not stop for funnel cake?! Great spot to cool off after walking around all day too! They have a lot of options, so it's easy to find something that sounds good whether you want pizza, hot dogs, a burger, ice cream, cake, or something extra sweet. Portions were generous in traditional diner fashion, everything was delish as well! Inside can get busy, especially during peak tourist times when we were there, so expect a little chaos and line movement going slow depending when you go. That's pretty normal for Branson, but worth knowing if you're tired or in a hurry. Overall, a pretty great stop!

The young woman working was the only one behind the counter, and she was not only taking orders, some complicated, making suggestions, making all of the orders, SERVING the orders to tables, and bussing everything alone. The line at some points curved beyond the door. I'm not sure for the solid hour we were there enjoying our treats did she have a minute to herself. For that, we tipped handsomely, but she deserves a raise. The dairy free ice cream was excellent. Super smooth, not too sweet, very creamy, and stayed solid, which is hard to find all of those attributes in dairy free ice cream together. I had an Ed's Sauce slush, but instead of just oat milk ice cream, I swirled it with pineapple whip. Altogether, it tasted like a tart Smartie. Pretty good but cloyingly sweet. My partner had a cinnamon, graham cracker, and pretzel shake. It was excellent. Our friend had the Jimmy Eats Swirl bowl, which is essentially a concrete/blizzard. They hand mix their concretes without a blender, which is so impressive. I still can't believe she handled that much of a crowd entirely alone with such complicated orders. Anyways, the ambiance is super chill, imagine Digital Bean from Lizzy McGwire meets Tokyo cat Cafe, but no actual cats. Next time I'm in Springfield again, will be returning for sure. Bonus: They have a buy a meal/take a meal program where you can leave some cash with a digital receipt and someone who needs a meal can take one to redeem for a hot meal. Bonus Bonus(!): the bathroom has a bidet!

You can tell they have a lot of regulars. As we stood deciding, a gentleman was greeted by his name and asked if he was having his usual. I love that! I normally order Americanos on my first visit to a coffee shop, but I got a mocha this time and it did not disappoint. Perfectly balanced. We also got a cinnamon roll and my wife and I both loved it. It was tender and flavorful... we'll probably order another one while we're in town. Also, the atmosphere of this place is so friendly and warm. You can tell that they all care. The place is very cozy and eclectic and cute. Every direction your head turns, there's something neat to discover. I can tell you right now, if we lived here, we would certainly be regulars!
