What a beautiful little cafe, I believe it's become one of my favorites. I loved the decor and very friendly service. They make you feel welcomed, such a cozy feeling. It was very clean, plenty of room and loved the music. We ordered three coffees to go and a cookie, I'm looking forward to having my coffee there and food next time. They have sandwiches, soups, desserts and sometimes live music. I had the Hippie Chi Latte and it's now my favorite. Great local Cafe serving delicious panini sandwiches. My favorites are the steak & mushroom or pop goes the peni. The mother road salad is also a great option with delicious poppyseed dressing. Admittedly, not a fair or full review cause I only had coffee, didn't try any of the delicious looking home made sweets. For starters I just didn't get a calming feeling, I was the only customer but the discussions among employees about things that needed to be done and problems to be addressed was a tad unnerving. The soup was really good and the atmosphere was nice. I had a meeting with some workers in the area and just by dumb luck I found this place. Hidden GEM! This place is located in a small, quiet, quaint town called Strafford, MO. It is "downtown." The first thing I noticed about this place is that the ENTIRE staff was smiling (incredibly rare - even for friendly establishments). My son and I were traveling, and kind of happened upon this place. The day we went in, Santa Claus was visiting; he was listening to Christmas wishes, and handing out candy. It was a pretty busy place. Several tables were full, and many people were standing around visiting with coffees in hand. We ordered a smoothie, Hippie Chai latte, and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious! The smoothie was very refreshing. The sandwich, on the fresh focaccia bread, was uh-mazing, and the coffee was perfect temperature with a perfect amount of froth! We found the Common Grounds Cafe by chance, searching down a side street for a forgotten Post Office, in Strafford, Missouri. It's the most unlikely thing you'd expect to find here: an Art Deco hipster cafe. It's got everything a Portland, Oregon coffee shop longs for, yet lacks in authenticity: Old, re-furnished warehouse building, brick-stucco walls, refinished wood plank floors... Except it was already here, not shipped in brick-by-brick just for show. The coffee was a decent medium roast, with floral notes & a tangy finish. We had panini breakfast sandwiches, which were adorned with grapes. Highly recommended for a coffee connoisseur out in the road, looking for an oasis in a desert of 'Kum n go' coffee. read more

We met some friends there not knowing anything about it. The ambience was perfect for the reunion. It was quiet, layed-back reminding us of our hippy days. We each had a sandwich and salad to die for. I had piece of a triple berry/strawberry pie which was wooonderful. We were allowed to relax and talk for as long as we needed. We stopped by the next morning for cinnamon rolls and sandwiches to eat on the way home. We will return. read more

Cute atmosphere! Antique coffee house with a delicious menu! We had the Reuben and Caprisse Panese - both were toasted perfect with plenty for lunch. The owner was very pleasant and happy to accommodate our group of 15 people. We recently moved to the Strafford area from Springfield and were pleasantly surprised to find such a great coffee shop in our new lil home town. Their beans are from coffee ethic which is known for the quality of their coffee and we just had lunch there the other day and it was delicious as well. We will be frequenting this place a lot more in the future. If you're in the Strafford area you should stop by and check it out. And if you're outside of Strafford it's worth the drive for big city taste with a small town feel. read more
