Pizza Haven also has beef patties, with cheese and cocoa bread. When was the last time you saw that outside of NY? They round out their menu with pasta dishes, calzones, Stromboli, and a NY cheesecake. I've seen them being ordered but I'm always so full of pizza and patties that I have yet to try them. I happen to be in this part of Brandon and was in the mood for pizza, then again I am always in the mood for good pizza. This place claimed to have NY style and it was close so I figured I would give them a chance. Its a bit hard to find as it's set back off of Brandon Blvd , as I past it several times.Its a very tiny place on the far right side of a shopping plaza. .Of course I asked if they had any Sicilian available and they looked at me like I asked for an order General Tso's. If you are going to promote NY Style pizza, you should know what that exactly means and not just something to lure customers in. All they had available in the "slices" was neopolitan which was another term they were a bit stone faced about..... So I ordered 2 slices of reg, their response was " You don't want any toppings on it???" No just str8 up cheese. Again same stone faced look, Now I do like pizza with certain ingredients but those are designed that way. Example : Eggplant Parm pizza I throughly enjoy however the pizza was designed with those "toppings" if you will. I noticed down here a majority of the pizza places promote pizza with toppings but unfortunately they use that to enhance the taste of their inferior pizza instead of complimenting it. OK I will get off my Pizza soapbox , I am just very serious about pizza even in its most simplistic form. Of course they didn't have that available , what they did have was a reg slice with pesto. They said the lunch special was 2 slices and a can of soda for $5 not a bad deal for pizza , well if it was good pizza. Ok here we go , the pluses are it is similar to NY style in appearance and slightly in taste . The negatives unfortunately outweigh the +'s, the pizza was extremely oily , now I do like a lil grease if u will in my neo but this had abundant amount to the point I had to take napkins to absorb the oil. The taste very artificial almost plastically , cheese was more rubbery than creamy,sauce was very acidic, too bitter and overly sweet. The crust wasn't terrible but it didn't have the right amount of crunch and support this oily "pizza" . The owner and I think who was his son was friendly which was a plus but I think if they are going to brand their pizza as NY style you should do your research and know what that entails first. Of course some ppl may say that this is THEIR own interpretation of pizza and I can respect that opinion but I know what pizza is supposed to taste like and this unfortunately is not their best interpretation. read more

Just tried this place for the first time last night, it was Amazing!!! We have tried almost every pizza place Brandon and haven't found "the place" until now. Ordered a pepperoni with extra cheese and the cheese was overflowing, it was amazing!! Garlic knots were on point too, we will definitely be back as THIS is our place. read more

This is the best calzone and pizza we have found in the Tampa area. Mo, the owner/chef is a treasure from New York. Prices are great and garlic knots are sublime. This place has just a couple of tables, so don't bring a group. Be sure to ask about the spaghetti in a bag. read more

The cashier accidentally overcharged us on topping unbeknownst to us and the owner? apologized and gave us these delicious beef things that they will soon be adding to their menu. I just tried this pizza spot for the 1st time and it was the closest thing to NY Pizza I've had since I relocated. The folks at the front desk were extremely friendly. My order was ready when I arrived. The flavor of the pie was delicious except it didn't have all of the grease like an NYC pizza pie. Had delivery thru Mobile Meals...not impressed. Wings looked "blond" very lightly cooked and not even tossed in the sauce..just squirted on top from a squeeze bottle. Ordered pizza with pepperoni, beef and garlic. HUGE chunks of garlic and lots of it clumped together on top...raw. Blech. Would have preferred it was under the toppings so it could have cooked more or was roasted before adding. Likely won't reorder. read more

This is my Favorite Pizza in Brandon. Ordered a large pie (half cheese/half meatball). You can tell that the pizza is made with quality ingredients. Honestly the WORST carry-on we have ever had. Over 30 years as a couple and ordering take-out in a dozen cities, this place is AMAZINGLY horrible. One of our guests actually suggested that Pizza Haven was not a restaurant but was really performance art to see how people would react to food worse than hospitals, dorms and high school cafeterias. in case you're wondering, we ordered four different items from various parts of the menu -- all uniformly vile. The order taker seemed (bless her heart) learning disabled; it took (not kidding) fifteen minutes and SEVEN attempts to communicate the order. What we got bore little resemblance to the order placed. They called back to have us repeat the name for the order; they recorded "Beth" when we said "Ben"... thrice. the consensus word is... WOW. After reading several five-star reviews on Yelp and a few other sites, we tried Pizza Haven for the first time with what were probably unfairly high expectations. when I walked through the door, the staff treated me like a dear, old friend. The service was exceptional. It's not often that I have very high expectations for restaurants these days and it's even less often that I find a place that's worthy of those kind of expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my unfairly high expectations were exceeded. We got two larges with widely varying toppings for all of our different tastes. Pizza Haven is a gem.Im an ex NY'er and have been going to moes for decades. I've been living in Brandon for 48 years and remember the original Pizza Haven when it was on Robertson Street.i used to take my little league team there and it was the ONLY pizza parlor in the entire area way before Moe took it over.. It's by far the best NY pizza and I only get mine crispy,as it should be, and only with cheese. It pains me to see people put 4 and 5 toppings on a pizza. In my old Brooklyn neighborhood you'd be asked to leave if you wanted all that crap on it. It also pains me to read the one negative review that I read from an idiot who claims to be an authority on "real" NY pizza and was annoyed when Moe did not have Sicilian pizza?? Here's a news flash for this moron...that's not authentic pizza.the traditional pizza is Neapolitan style which is what Pizza Haven makes. The oldest pizza parlor in the US is Lombardis (1905) on Spring Street in NYC You'll never see Sicilian pizza there.Its a hybrid that was created to satisfy the uneducated about pizza.My mother used to say that's like "eating cake"!!! I go back to NYC every year and when I return I always tell Moe that I had pizza while there and his is still the best. So, the next time I go in 3 slice specials, same thing $22, I said Mo shouldn't it be around $18 plus tax? He says I had to charge you for an x-lg pizza and 3 drinks, its the computer theirs nothing I can do about it! You're the owner, of coarse there is something you can do about it !!!
