My boss told me of this places a year ago and tonight was the night to check it out. The Sprinter is too big for the parking lot so I parked around the corner on Ysable St. by the coffee place. I walked in and saw the five flat screens showing pre season nfl football. Okay I'm here...A great counter Ashley greeted me and three very large flat screen menus hung above. The Ashley handed me a menu, thank you. I see a brick fired oven just behind the counter. Now I could go into detail about the counter but that would spoil it for you. Beer and wines are featured, good ones too. They pretty much have it all here, really. I ordered a small garden salad tossed with blue cheese, no housemade dressings here. An individual 9" pie, a favorite "the Rustic Carnivore". The next size up was 11". I grabbed a Tropical Iced tea and found a hi-top placed front and center with the screen. I went to the restroom, washed up and my salad was being delivered. My pizza showed up as I was nearly done with the salad oh yea. The Pie was cut in fourths, so it was a folded slice to eat, that works. Very Good, good coverage on toppings, sauce was flavorful and it was oven hot WoW I was impressed, as I was enjoying, the rest of the crowd showed up for pizza. Nice timing foodguy. The second we opened the box, the smell alone had us excited to dig in. We started with the cheese bread, and it was pure cheesy goodness. The bread was soft and fluffy without being mushy, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The pizza, though, was the real star of the meal. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were, and the dough was incredibly soft, flavorful, and perfectly baked. My favorite touch was the white sesame seeds on the crust--they added a subtle sweetness that complemented all the savory flavors so well. It's such a small detail, but it made the pizza stand out from anywhere else I've been. I only wish I lived closer because this would easily become my go-to pizza spot. We also ordered the Blu pizza, which was savory, interesting, and completely unexpected in the best possible way. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the wood burning, smells great. The inside is small but not cramped, it's modern and cozy. They have a nice bar, it seems cute for a date night or to grab cocktails with a few friends. Pretty simple menu, they specialize in wood-fired pizzas and cocktails. We got the seasonal salad, which was solid. This rotates based on what's in season - it had nectarines, tomato, burrata - nice and clean, but the portion was pretty small. We also got the chicken cutlet, which came covered in a salad-type mixture. The salad topping was actually great, I would've eaten this as a salad by itself, but the chicken cutlet didn't have much flavor or seasoning. The sun-dried tomatoes in the topping helped add flavor, but on its own, the chicken was very thick and bland. We also got 2 pizzas, Girl Crush and Chicago Fire. These were thin crust pizzas, and while the dough and the toppings were good, there was WAY too much cheese on them. I say this as a cheese lover, but the pizzas were weighed down so heavily by the cheese that it was very difficult to pull slices apart. The ratios just seemed off. Flavor wise, we preferred the Girl Crush. The lemon fragrance is pretty strong on the Chicago Fire, so it overpowered the other flavors. Lastly, we ended with the classic tiramisu, which was good - nice and light, not too sweet. Food was just okay, our server Adam was great!!
