Went there several weeks ago before catching a movie and were thoroughly unimpressed. The sausage & cheese calzones had no discernible flavor. The only way to tell what was in a bite was the texture - dry was crust, stringy was the cheese and somewhat solid would be the sausage. Add to that the marinara tasted like Prego straight out of a jar in the fridge. Amazing new discovery! I was in the Great Hills area shopping at Sprouts, and saw Promise Pizza in the strip. You know how it is, I was too tired from shopping to cook dinner, so I decided to order some pizzas. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted warmly by friendly staff. After looking over the menu, I ordered the American Pie for my husband because I knew he would love all the meat- pepperoni, Italian sausage, and smoked bacon. I got the Pesto Veggie for myself. I just can't get enough of pesto and garlic besides the spinach, green peppers, mushrooms and red onions. While I waited for the pizza, the owner, Reggie Bertosi, struck up a conversation with me. He is so charming! Evidently he was born in Italy and worked as a chef in New York. He told me that he had bought the place last year and made some big changes in the menu and staff. I guess the transition was a bit rocky and he had to fire some slacker staff recently who kept screwing up. He spent a lot of time cleaning the place and even got the staff into clean restaurant jackets. I thought they and the place looked great! He told me that he had some new items on the menu including lasagne, eggplant parmesan, and polpette. Polpette!!! I couldn't believe it. Just like my Italian grandma used to make. They are delicious little meatballs in tomato sauce. I can't wait to bring my dad here. Reggi insisted that I try the Tiramisu, on the house. How could I pases that up? OMG. So yummy. And they have cannoli! My dad is going to die. He loves cannoli. Anyhow, to make a long story short. I got the pizza and took it home to share it with my hubby. It did not disappoint. The crust was light and crispy with just a whisper of that delicious extra virgin olive oil. I could definitely taste the quality ingredients in the Pesto Veggie. The hubby loved the meaty American Pie. I couldn't resist having a slice, and I don't think I have ever had pepperoni that good. I usually hate pepperoni. I'll definitely be back! I am excited to try some of the Italian entrees on the menu. High quality food and a good price. read more

Recently started sticking to organic/non gmo produce...graduating to organic lunches!..The organic flour dough does make a huge difference in taste...very yummy. I am changing my my previous one star review to be three stars. The employees working there apologized and were more then nice when I came to get the receipt of my voided order. They answered all of the questions I had with smiles on their faces. I give the online ordering 1 star until they work out the kinks and If all of my phone and personal orders with promise are as positive as my last. I would gladly give them more stars. My tastes in Pizza span all categories and I am generally a fan if the texture is good, the ingredients fresh, and it doesn't give me heartburn, as does Papa John's every time, without fail, regardless of toppings. Seriously Papa John's...heartburn....every freaking time. Ugh. So, On to Promise Pizza. The other night we saw Promise while taking in a healthy meal at Jason's and since mama bear had an appointment this evening, I decided to guinea pig the kids on the place. I called and placed the order from the simple, easy to read menu we procured the other night on the way to the car. I opted to pick up because it was $2.00 cheaper and 20 minutes faster. We arrived, and though our order was not quite ready, the service was friendly, and the gentlemen behind the counter offered me a complimentary drink and offered the kids an overly generous sample portion of Italian ice cream; I was glad the order wasn't ready on account of my need to be nosy and check out the kitchen, and the kids didn't mind the free ice cream. We ordered "The Range" on thin crust, which is your basic carnivore selection, and the cinnamon knots. The pizza crust was crisp yet chew if that makes any sense, which is the perfect texture in my book. The sauce was on the sweet end of the spectrum, but not overly so, and the meats were all flavorful without tasting overly cured or chemically. The cheese, which is a mozzarella-provolone blend was mild and melted evenly and had a nice mouth feel. All in all a win, though admittedly, not life changing, though I consider it a feat to have passed muster with organic and all natural ingredients. The cinnamon knots were off the freakin' chain. They were hot, light and fluffy, not oily at all, and the icing style dip with which it was served was creamy and sweet, but didn't make me feel sick like it's High Fructose Corn Syrup equivalents. And yes, you brain dead uneducated HFCS naysayers, it is horrible for you, and if you don't choose to accept that, then have fun ordering your diabetes supplies from Wilford Brimley and working on pronouncing it "Dia-beet-us" just like he does. Noteworthy is the fact that all of the ingredients are offered in organic, and there are several all natural food and drink items, and they offer gluten free and dairy free options. All this and it's no more expensive than say Austin's Pizza or Pizza Hut. The menu also boasts salads, garlic knots, chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms and jalapenos, cookies and brownies. My first experience was full of "win" and I'm sure it won't be my last. I give Promise a resounding thumbs up and encourage anyone who cares about putting quality organic food in their body to treat yourself to a slice of the good life. read more

Last night was the best pizza experience I've ever had in my life! I've had pizza from promise pizza before but this time I guess we just came at a more oppurtune time for the chef. Originally I heard of promise pizza from someone I met at sweet ritual who also had Celiac's disease. She told me about how they are certified gluten-free and she's never had a problem there. The first time I went I was impressed with the crust and the dayia cheese (only the best kind of vegan cheese) they had there. This time, after Chewie working at a pizza shop, we definitely knew what we liked on pizza and I just got my first paycheck and had been craving pizza for weeks so we loaded it up with all the toppings!! The chef asked us for the size of gluten-free pizza we wanted, I was confused, I'd never been asked that before. I was like is there more then one size of gluten-free pizza? And he said that he just special made some 16" gluten-free crusts!! I was so excited!!! I've never had a vegan gluten-free pizza that big!! And as we are eating the perfect (even with all the toppings, it staied together and didn't fall over when you picked it up, AMAZING), delicious pizza, I asked about the accent the chef had, apparently, he's actually from Itally, and then he got to talking about his adventures, he's a traveler, he's been skydiving, he's been bungie jumping, this guy is a blast! This pizza is okay, but the customer service is horrible! They will tell you one thing and charge you another. You have to watch every move they make. I usually pay with a card, however, I did pay with cash, the order was supposed to be around 13.00 dollars and they charged me18.00, when I gave him the 20.00 dollar bill he did not have change! So he would get 20.00's for a 13.00 order! I told him to take it back. Just because you see something in writing at this place, does not hold much truth. read more

I just stopped in today for the first time and I can't believe I haven't been here yet! I went with just a simple pepperoni pizza and it blew away anything I've had elsewhere. While waiting i got the pleasure to speak with the owner for a bit. Not only is he a nice guy, he knows his pizza (and surely the other items I have yet to try at my new favorite pizza place). Terrible! Truly a business with no class! Ordered 3 personal pizzas on a Sunday night (probably not very busy.) The delivery was over an hour, 30 mins. late. When we called to check to see what time they would be here the phone taker was rude (covering the phone talking about us to other co-workers then gave us a 20 min. ETA. The driver was unable to locate our building and called. We received 3 cold pizzas. One was a wrong order, the one was terrible and could eat it..the third (cheese pizza) they remarkably got that one right. When I called to talk to a manager, the answer was "hello" I had to ask who I was speaking to. When I started informing him on improper was to answer a professional phone (not a personal cell phone the man one the other line proceeded to tell me this was his business and he can answer the phone the way he wants...really? He then became defensive and argued with me for sometime. After a explained all I was calling for was a professional courtesy that they got everything wrong, he was still defensive...ridiculous! He then offer me a free pizza NEXT time I order from then...sorry dude I wouldn't waist my time with another moment with this company. Surprised they have lasted this long....oh by the way they had to call and regathering our order information even though we have an account with them. This was our first time at the Great Hills location, and we weren't impressed. We frequent the Round Rock location and have never had a bad experience there. We ordered the same items as always. The crust on the pizza was really thin and they skimped on the toppings. We asked for half cheese-half pepperoni and 6 of 8 slices had pepperoni. This would be fine if more of our household ate meat. However, this only left 2 slices for 3 vegetarian family members. We also got a calzone which was okay. They used kalmata olives instead of black. I generally like them, but there were way too many, and I would have preferred black. Also, they gave me general marinara with it whereas the Round Rock store has this AMAZING chunky, almost salsa-like dip for the calzone...and is the reason I order it. Thus not getting that was a major let down. Finally, the service was odd. When I went in to order and pick up, there was a woman sitting at the front with a laptop. The first time she sort of acknowledged me, and the second time she ignored me altogether. She actually called to people working in the back to take my order. WHAT?! This lazy lady gave me a bad vibe. The other people working seemed nice, but I this woman's attitude will definitely drive customers away. If you don't plan on working, sit somewhere else. Overall, really unimpressed. Glad we live closer to the much better Round Rock location! read more

We had actually planned to go to Jason's deli, when we ended up parking near Promise Pizza and my husband suggested that we try it. Must admit, it looks pretty nondescript from the outside. But we were never the kind who judges a pizza place by its appearance :) We asked the manager if it was new, he said they've been there for 3 years. I guess the location is such that it doesn't immediately catch one's eye. . Ordered an XL half Alfredo Curry and Half Nature's choice. I picked up a paper plate and a Sharpie from the counter for my son to draw on. Kept him occupied throughout the whole dinner! I also picked up a Menu Flyer and as I read through it, I realized there are several meal deals that they have. I noticed that if you buy an XL specialty pizza, you can get a personal 1 topping pizza free. So when the server came out, we asked him about and he said, "Sure which one do you want? We did find it a bit odd that we weren't told about it at the time of ordering. Anyhow.. the pizza was delicious! You can truly feel the difference with the use of fresh and natural ingredients. The crust is light and not at all greasy! That's a first for us! The Alfredo curry was our favorite. After a tug of war, I gave up the last slice to my hubby,, sigh.... Don't let the word "curry" scare you , it isn't spicy ... it's very , how shall I put it, subtle & interesting. It doesn't feel very heavy or garlicy either. After a while the manager, Brandon came out , chit chatted with us and gave us a loyalty card. We're definitely going back there again! He did apologize for the fact that we weren't informed about the deal at the time of ordering. Looks like the staff needs more training. Very POOR Customer Service!!! I had ordered previous from Promise Pizza, so I was surprised to learn it was now new owners with the name Pizza Day. I placed the pizza order at 9:08 and was given the absolute latest delivery time of 9:50pm. The pizza did not arrive until 10:47pm!! Literally an 1 hour and 40 minutes after it was ordered! The pizza was completely cold and not good. I called and they said the manager would return my call the following day. When I did not receive a return call by Monday, I called them asking for a refund and was told the manager would check into it and get back. The manager was rude and said since I was pleasant to the deliver driver and tipped him (why would I be rude, it was not his fault!!) that I did not seem as if there was an issue. Still no return call. I called again a couple of days later and was told they would give me 20% off a future order of $15 or more. I demanded a full refund at this point and was told she would think about it and get back to me..still no reply and no refund! The pizza looked like it had been sitting out a while but they did put it in the oven for me which helped. Worst meal I have had in a long time. I had it delivered and it was over 30 min late so my food was cold by the time I got it. I ordered a gluten-free pizza with salami and prucitto and BBQ wings. The made my pizza wrong and tried to cover it up with uncooked prucitto. They add cheddar cheese and what I think was ground beef. Not to mention it was burnt. And the wings had no flavor and tasted weird. Needless to say I threw most of it in the trash. Won't do this again anytime soon. read more

You will be a believer and want to come religiously once a week at least as I have done ever since I found this place 6 weeks ago. OMG! Suddenly it feels like I am eating pizza in Italy again but I am in Austin. Don't be fooled by the look of his little unpretentious restaurant. His food is as good as Italian food can be, he uses fresh organic ingredients and somehow makes pizzas healthier, by using a whole wheat or gluten-free crust. His Specialty Pizzas are delicious and his Calzones a must try, specially since you can not find them that often in restaurants across this city. Oh yeah, and did I mention that he has Cannolis too? The fact that he has won in New York several times First Place on The New York Post's "Best Pizza Chef Award" should tell you something too. Every time I have been there they had made me feel welcome and like family. He personally prepared my food and since it is a family business his daughters and lovely wife are running the show like true professionals and with a we-are-happy-to-see-you-are-back attitude, not a given in franchise businesses that just want your money and serve overpriced mediocre food. That disgusting a$$ pizza! The cheese was sour and the crust was disgusting. The lemonade taste like pure acid! I called the owner to let him know about my visit. He called me back and got upset because I was dissatisfied and hung up in my face! Really? Why you mad because your pizza stinks? When I went back to get my money (at this point it's principle), the jerk gave me my money then said, "I hope to never see you again!" Seriously? Ha! You won't! I don't do sour cheese and I certainly don't spend my money where it isn't appreciated! That was the worst pizza I've ever tasted. And to top it off, it's not even really apart of the original Promise Pizza in Round Rock! It was bought out and they still haven't changed the name! That's why it was so nasty!
