The family wanted to try some different pizza so we gave this place a try. Walked in and stood waiting to be seated while servers were going back and forth. Finally got seated and our drink order was taken. The wife ordered a beer and we waited. Food order was taken and no beer....waited longer....no beer. I stopped our server while she was walking by and asked her since I was a bar tender if I could go pour the beer. She apologized and said she would go get it right away. Finally the wife got her beer. The food came out and we dug in. The breadsticks were a surprise (looked like hot dog buns) and the pizza was sub par and really greasy. The only thing that saved the day were the wings. They are amazing and the best I've had around Mount Vernon. Don't think we will be back but I will definitely get wings thru the drive thru. read more

I ordered a personal size vegi pizza and it was fantastic. They weren't stingy with the toppings and good price. I bought a woodfire pizza and it was terrible. The same size too, it barely had any toppings, you could see more sauce then toppings. They said it had the correct amount for a 6 inch. The 6 inch from Pizza Cottage was perfect, toppings edge to edge and thick. The crust wasn't burnt like a woodfire. Woodfire pizza is supposed to be a little darker but not black where you break your teeth biting into it. They have my business from now on. Thank you Pizza Cottage. read more

Cold pizza delivered an hour and 42 minutes after order. It sucks. Mgr would not cooperate with any discount. Boycott them

Nice place, but absolute chaos and lack of organization. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. There were plenty of available tables and workers just kept walking past us and ignoring us. They could have at least said they'd be with us in a moment. We were finally seat and ordered drinks. I asked if they had Diet Mt. Dew, the server said they didn't, so I ordered iced tea. A minute later my son passed the soda dispenser and they clearly had Diet Mt. Dew. We placed our food order (2 small pizzas and a ravioli dinner). They did not bring my salad out until all the food came out. We had so eating utensils or napkins. Also, the ravioli did not have sauce. The server said I had to ask for it when I ordered. We looked at the menu again, it said nothing about requesting sauce. The menu actually said there was a choice of sauces to pick from. I figure it was her responsibility to ask me which one I wanted. When I mentioned this to her when she brought me a bowl of sauce, she gave me a look that clearly said "I don't care." The salad and garlic bread were so-so. Overall the restaurant had a nice interior, the pizzas were good, but the rest was not a good experience. We're here on vacation, so I doubt we'll be back, but I wouldn't go again anyway. read more

Great place to dine-in. My favorite item is the cheesy bread sticks- I get a half order every time. I have tried many of the items on the menu, since I try to get something different each time. The only thing I would not get again is the garlic bread because I don't care for sub bun garlic bread. I have always had good service. And I like that they serve Pepsi products. I feel the $9.99 lunch special didn't have the options I wanted but was a fair price. Parking can be treacherous, as can getting back onto the street especially when they are busy. read more

I wasn't convinced this town needed another pizza restaurant. We went in on Wed evening for an early dinner (4:45pm). It took quite awhile to get our order in and my wife's salad came before our appetizer. Additionally we ordered some take home food and I believe the order was not put in until well after we finished as we waited a long time. We ended up trying the meat pizza-overall it was only OK. It was greasier than I thought it would be. My daughter's cheese pizza was also very greasy.I think I will stick with our local pizza places in the future rather than an out of town establishment that is one of many. read more

I have been to multiple locations over the years and was pleased when they decided to build in Mount Vernon where I live. The inside is very nice, dim lighting and comfortable seats. Service is slow, but I think that is because everything is new. Now, while eating in the food is fantastic. We have ordered take out 3 times, I always try a 3 strikes your own rule! Every single time I have ordered online something is missing, I never end up calling or going back because it's a huge hassle for me as I have some autoimmune issues and it's not easy going back out. I will say their cookies and cinnamon pizza were terrible, the sub is delicious inside but NOT take out!!!! Every single time they forget my sauce that I pay extra for, they also don't read the toppings ether...I say if you want it...go inside!!! read more

Just had the worst dinning experience, ever, at Mt. Vernon pizza cottage. First, the service was terrible and slow. Second, the quality of the mexican pizza was poor. The service and quality is better at the Newark location. Third, we were charged full drink price ($3.49) for refills. When I asked the waitress about it, she said you were charged for a refill. I stated we had never been charged for refills at Pizza Cottage. The waitress just brushed off my comment. I asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came over I showed him the bill with the double charge for drinks. He said the waitress accidently put in the double charge. I told him that we showed her the double charge for drinks and she said yes it is for the refill and walked away. We will never go to the Mt. Vernon pizza cottage again! read more

First--and probably last visit. Went a little before 5 on a Saturday. Not clear where to go, no personnel within sight of the door. Ambience was nice, though the booths are TINY. Anyone with any chub or longer legs will struggle with the booths. There were a few ppl at the bar, and 3 or 4 tables, but pretty empty. We ordered garlic bread with cheese and mozzarella sticks for aps, 2 glasses of pop, a glass of wine (which came out of a can), spaghetti and meatballs w/salad, a cheese pizza, and calzone with mushroom, onion, sausage. Mozzarella sticks and sauce were tasty, garlic bread was ok--a toasted hoagie bun with garlic sauce and cheese. The salad with the spaghetti meal was a nice size, and fairly fresh, though nothing extraordinary. My husband said the spaghetti was ok, nothing to write home about, the spaghetti came out of the kitchen about 15 mins after we had finished our aps. HOWEVER, the pizza and the calzone did not reach our table until after 6! Prior to that I was getting irritated, and told the waitress that if our food wasn't in the oven to bring the check, we were leaving. My husband was long since done with his dinner, and I was getting antsy. The food finally made it to our table and was pretty underwhelming. I could not find any mushrooms in my calzone, and the cheese pizza was swimming in grease. The food itself was meh, definitely nothing to get excited about. Service was fair, but again, nothing to write home about. Filling drinks, clearing dishes, offering a spoon with spaghetti, were all missed opportunities. Would have been nice if they had offered to comp something for the wait, but that was not the case. Can't recommend. read more
