There are so many options for beers! It can be a little noisy at times depending on how busy they are but nothing bad. We could still easily talk to each other without having to shout or ask someone to repeat themselves. The beers on tap are pretty good but if you don't want that check out the beer fridge. This is our second time coming here and we weren't been disappointed. I know I was less than enthusiastic but compared to last time this was a definite step up. The food had more flavor and the fries were better. Getting to go containers was easier. Basically there was a definite uptick in the food and the service compared to our last visit.

Staff was super friendly, went out of their way to make sure the tables were tidy, and refilled drinks really quick. The restaurant is smaller than you expect it to be, but it is cozy, friendly, and not overly loud. We only had a 10 minute wait when we arrived and they were packed. Our waiter Kyle was on point, introduced himself and dropped the special of the day with gusto. If I hadn't already had a ton of carbs for the day I would have gone with it. Ended up ordering the scallops, and fried zucchini appetizers. Scallops are served almost like a soup. The sauce in the bowl was to die for. I'm thinking white wine, and lemon were the major components. It was phenomenal. Fried zucchini was super tasty and is coming home with us. I'd swear it was enough to feed 4 people. For mains, we ordered pot roast and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Wife loved the pasta and chicken. Surprisingly enough she ate it all, none to go which is super rare for her. Pot roast was fantastic. Mashed potatoes were on point, the mixed vegetables were amazing. When you get broccoli and carrots on the same plate and neither have a mushy texture it makes me happy Will definitely be back again in the future.

Next my chicken Marsala, sauce almost spilled off plate, tasted like squeeze lemon, chicken dry potatoes thin and grainy, just disgusting. Then unbelievably my husbands hamburger was very rare, not understood since he ordered it well. No tip after all plates over half full. We have dined there many times over the years. But the problem used to always be twice the wait we were told, every time ( that was our families joke about the place. It was dead this time, the food explained that. We are frequent eat out family, but just mid it was not. We got a discount. But $103.00 later and annoyed and still hungry, it was not worth. Never again! We then waited for 20 minutes while the staff worked on their delivery orders. I finally asked one employee when we would get our order and they then started to work on them and finally brought them to our table. We had ordered 2 four inch french dip sandwiches and 2 cups of soup and honestly they were terrible. There was only a sliver of roast beef on each sandwich and the soup was obviously from a can. Why it took so long to get our order to our table is beyond me, but it was a very disappointing experience. The food was subpar and the bill was $43 which is way too much for what we got. Never again!

We had stopped by the highway, where the view of lush greenery and rolling hills was nice. I approve! It was nice to sit on the patio watching the passing cars, and the tarp above us provided pleasant shade from the sun. My daughter and I shared the Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs and sausages. The homemade biscuits were buttery and flaky--absolutely delicious. My partner and her daughter shared either a skillet or an omelet; I don't quite remember since I didn't take a picture. Regardless, we were all satisfied with our meals and ready to continue our adventure. The service was friendly and efficient. I didn't even get to check out inside the restaurant. Was there an inside? A quick tip: you'll need a key to access the restrooms. I noticed several people walk over only to discover the door was locked, so I made sure to ask for the key. According to their website, this place has a fascinating history--it once served as a miner's supply store before becoming a hotel. I believe there are still rooms available, as I noticed you can reserve cabins with twin and queen beds. While I might not stay in a cabin myself, I would definitely return for the food.

Staff were also very friendly and personable. Bathrooms needed a key since anyone off the highway can stop in and use them, but they were clean. Overall, Priest Station Cafe is a nice place to stop while on a road trip - the view is worth it! Check them out!

For an appetizer, it's definitely on the larger side and was very filling as a solo diner. That said, it would make an excellent dish to share with the table! The carnitas were flavorful, tender, and a great way to kick off the meal. I also ordered the pineapple michelada, and honestly, it was good! I don't think I've ever had a pineapple michelada before, but it was refreshing and paired perfectly with the food. I'd absolutely recommend giving it a try if you're visiting! For my main entrée, I had the red chilaquiles topped with carnitas. One thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of places seem to take the easy route by using a simple tomato based sauce for their chilaquiles. That definitely wasn't the case here!! The chile rojo had a rich, well developed flavor that tasted like it was made from scratch with care rather than taking shortcuts. The carnitas and over easy egg were a perfect addition, and I enjoyed every bite!! The restaurant has plenty of seating inside, but I chose to sit on the patio. It was nicely shaded and made for a peaceful, relaxing breakfast outdoors. To top it all off, the service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the meal. Overall, El Bistro by Salt & Pepper was a pleasant surprise. Between the thoughtfully prepared food, unique drinks, relaxing atmosphere, and great service, it's an easy spot to recommend. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu.
