I brought my kids here for their first time today. ( i have been here a few times myself years ago.) I remember buying my oldest who is now 12 her first doctor's playset from this store and the quality of it was exceptional. I believe it lasted more than five years with constant play. So I finally decided to bring the kids in. My two year old who doesn't get out much (due to covid) was so thrilled. She was exploring and amazed with everything the moment she set foot in the store. The women that worked there was friendly and helpful. We were there for about 15-20 minutes and she didn't want to leave. My 9 year old son also thought this toy store was cool. I came looking for toys for my nieces and nephews and found something for all of them (all very different ages and interests). Just a suggestion for the business: different lightning would be amazing in the store, it feels like a factory or warehouse with the fluorescent cool toned lighting. Amazing customer service! I came here because Pixie Baby (the baby store a few doors down) was closed. I specifically wanted one of the bamboo baby blankets that was in the baby store. Luckily they own both store so she was more than happy to close the toy store and walk me to the baby store so I could pick out a blanket. Not only was she patient, but she also gift wrapped the blanket for me. I love the wrapping and appreciated the wrist rattle she attached to the gift. I take my little one here all the time and go here whenever I needed a gift for kids when I lived in Long Beach. We moved up north recently and needed to send a gift to a friend's 2 year old for a birthday. And I immediately thought of this store. It's such a hidden gem in Long Beach to be honest. The wife found this store on Yelp and called to inquire about any unicorn merchandise they might have. The lady was really helpful and put the items we were interested in on hold. We went there and were really impressed by how nice the shop is. It's small but has tons of toys you can't find at the usual stores. The store carries a ton of high quality toys and books that you can't find at big box stores. The customer service is great, anyone there is ready to help you find what you're looking for or make helpful suggestions. They carry toys for infants up to maybe 10 years old, but a ton of books for many age ranges. The store can be hard to find from the front but easily found through the back street, where there is more parking. I only wish it was brighter (feels a bit dark and all decor is black and white), and that their collection was a bit more curated(it's a hard store to navigate alone because of the abundance of products). read more

I usually visit the store to purchase unique items for friends and families children. My daughter tags along with me and she tends to help me not over-shop. On this occasion I was alone. I saw some unique items, especially the train and items for the one year old I was shopping for. They have some neat areas that are sectioned off by age group which makes it easy to shop. The cashier was friendly and polite. Thank you. The store was clean and had lots of items to consider. However, I was disappointed while I was browsing, one of the customers who stepped into the area I was browsing in afterwards was acknowledged immediately, a couple of times, I thought the employee was asking me if I needed assistance however it seems that was not to be the case as the employee avoided eye contact with me. I did overhear that it was the employees first day back after a trip, maybe she was flustered. I found a couple of items I liked and one did not have a price tag, another employee did come around and inquired on my need however now that I think about it, was she asking genuinely or asking because she thought I was not there to purchase items. She asked the employee who ignored me and they seem to be whispering back and forth, and it seems as if the employee who initially ignored me did not want ti tell me the price. I think the other employee saw that I had not been given the price and did proceeded to tell me the price however I did not see the item in her hands, she asked if I would be purchasing it. I said no. Then proceeded to wait in line. Since I was already disappointed and felt that I was not wanted in the store. I decided to get the other item I had in my hands for $29.99 . I would like to reiterate that the cashier was friendly. As I was leaving the store the initial employee who ignored me stuck her head out of the aisle, giving me a strange look. I decided to go to Target and get a few more items since I did feel my business was not appreciated at Pixie. I'll see if my daughter thinks we should continue shopping at Pixie. read more

The woman working there asked who we were buying a gift for, and when we said, "An 8-year-old boy," she immediately pointed out a number of different options including brainteasers, science kits, outdoor toys.
