Parking spaces were ample as the neighboring businesses weren't busy at all during this holiday week. The inside was not ornately decorated as some of the fancier places in the area that serve this type of cuisine. Between the booths and tables, my estimate was that the seating capacity was around 50 customers. The menu booklet contained several pages of offerings across the categories of appetizers, soups, salads, sides, wraps/subs, traditional dishes, and seafood/chops. For beverages, there were juices, smoothies, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. My friends each chose a different type of wrap for their meal. I picked one of the entrees from the traditional dishes which was the Gallaba over Hummus. In my hometown, I don't see gallaba as often as items like shish kabobs and shawarma. My order consisted of a choice of meat (lamb was my pick) sauteed with green peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, and carrots with special spices added. The mixture was served on a bed of hummus with my choice of rice on the side. A cup of chicken rice soup (instead of lentil) also came with this traditional dish. While we were waiting for our food, a basket of warm pita bread and a cup of garlic spread were provided. The spread was very pungent so I used it sparingly. An extra dinner salad was mistakenly added which I saved for leftovers. The gallaba was essentially a Middle Eastern version of a meat stir fry. The pieces of lamb were tender and not gamey. The spices added flavor but not saltiness. Between the bread, soup, rice, and gallaba, it was a generous portion size that also became leftovers for later. For the quality and price of my meal, I gave a four star rating for our visit to The Sheikh Restaurant.

Accurate portions matter to me, especially when they're advertised by weight, and because of this experience, I wouldn't order from here again.

The lamb/ beef filling was flavorful and plentiful. I ordered Greek fries, even though some came in the sandwich, and I am so glad that I did. The fries were topped with tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta, olive oil, and oregano. Fantastic. I liked that the hot fries complemented the coolness of the tzatziki sauce. It might be better served separately so the contrast in flavors is more pronounced; the sauce warmed up from the fries after a while. The bougasta was also delicious. Served hot, I enjoyed the creamy custard encased in flaky pastry, and liberally topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar. I was too full even to sample the small tzatziki, served with a griddled pita. Oh, well, more for a midnight snack. The order taker/food preparer/server was friendly and answered all my questions. Despite these positives, I found the total price to be very high, significantly higher than expected.
