I met my friend and his wife at this Middle Eastern eatery for lunch while I was in town. The Sheikh Restaurant is located in a middle suite of a narrow Canton Township strip mall. Parking spaces were ample as the neighboring businesses weren't busy at all during this holiday week. The inside was not ornately decorated as some of the fancier places in the area that serve this type of cuisine. Between the booths and tables, my estimate was that the seating capacity was around 50 customers. The menu booklet contained several pages of offerings across the categories of appetizers, soups, salads, sides, wraps/subs, traditional dishes, and seafood/chops. For beverages, there were juices, smoothies, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. My friends each chose a different type of wrap for their meal. I picked one of the entrees from the traditional dishes which was the Gallaba over Hummus. In my hometown, I don't see gallaba as often as items like shish kabobs and shawarma. My order consisted of a choice of meat (lamb was my pick) sauteed with green peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, and carrots with special spices added. The mixture was served on a bed of hummus with my choice of rice on the side. A cup of chicken rice soup (instead of lentil) also came with this traditional dish. While we were waiting for our food, a basket of warm pita bread and a cup of garlic spread were provided. The spread was very pungent so I used it sparingly. An extra dinner salad was mistakenly added which I saved for leftovers. The gallaba was essentially a Middle Eastern version of a meat stir fry. The pieces of lamb were tender and not gamey. The spices added flavor but not saltiness. Between the bread, soup, rice, and gallaba, it was a generous portion size that also became leftovers for later. For the quality and price of my meal, I gave a four star rating for our visit to The Sheikh Restaurant. read more

Excellent gravy and preparation of the deboned chicken. Super friendly. Only wish more restaurants served their deboned chicken this way!

All afternoon I had been undecided between steak or shish tawook. Did I want a thick, grilled steak with an all-dressed baked potato or lemon-oregano flavored chicken cubes with garlic sauce and hummus? In the end, I went with the chicken. The lemon-oregano shish tawook was assertively flavored but not as tender as I am accustomed to. The garlic sauce was creamy and mild. I loved the hummus, a substitute for rice/fries for a slight upcharge, which was more creamy than gritty, and the soft, thick, and warm pita bread that accompanied the meal. The salad, which also accompanied the meal, was fresh and flavorful. While I did take-out, the restaurant was of a reasonable size to accommodate a weekend crowd. read more

The good and service at The Sheikh are outstanding. On this visit, we shared lamb ghallaba and a small hummus. The ghallaba was full of veggies, and the veggies had an incredible flavor! My favorite part might have been the fresh mushrooms, which took on the flavor of the sauce perfectly, though the onions and tomatoes were scandalously delicious too. Lest we forget, it was lamb ghallaba, and the lamb was lean, tender, and cooked perfectly. I would order this dish again and again. On another note, their fresh baked pita bread is scrumptious, with a slight hint of sweetness that's a pleasant surprise. When paired with the creamy hummus, the combination is stellar. Although my husband and I shared this meal, we still went home with leftovers AND we were stuffed! If I wasn't off from teaching this summer, I'd have been the envy of everyone at work during lunch. As I mentioned, service was also notable, and our friendly server was generous enough to give us a few pieces of bread to take home with our leftover hummus. Reheat that pita bread in a damp paper towel for a few seconds on each side and it's nearly as good as fresh. Yum! If there was anything I'd change, it's the generic cash wrap area. I'm not sure if it's its location, but it acts as a focal point even though the rest of the restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel. This place was amazing the beef was incredible as well as the lemon chicken soup and don't get me started on the coffee and baklava. A woman answered the phone when I asked if they had dine-in available, she said yes. Then I asked how late they were open and she asked me what, she asked for dine-in and I said yes. She said 9. I thanked her and that was our call. Short, no-nonsense and brief. We sat at a table but were moved to a booth after two ladies left. The pita bread going around looks good. We should pick places that don't have a pita oven. Too tempting. Our waiter is super friendly, attentive, accommodating and helpful. He is warm and nice too. We ordered the sheikh platter. All chicken shawarma and chicken kebobs, baba ghanouj instead of rice or French fries. No bread under the hummus either. The house salad was good, lettuce was crisp. Dressing was nice and tart and some sumac to boot too. The hummus is yummy, the baba ghanouj is decent, not super smokey and quite smooth too. It's chilly in here. The air seems to be on or something. Good thing I have my down coat on then. The falafel is not bad, not as hard and crunchy outside, but still crispy and the inside is soft and moist too. The shawarma meat is good, it's more like shredded chicken. There are some big pieces left too. The meat is nice and moist. Would be so good in a taco right now. The chicken kebab meat is good, it's not too dry at all. Their garlic is made with olive oil, it's good. No hot sauce here, some liquid hot sauce, not quite right for the meat though. Some chili sauce would be so good. We had about half of the doubled shawarma meet and almost 1 kebab left. Service was really good. The waiter is really great at his job. Makes everyone feel welcomed and important. Food was out quickly and we never had to wait for anything. Service was the best part of our meal for sure. The price was pretty reasonable for what you get. Food was overall good. I think some veggie grape leaves and some lentil might have bumped up the food value for me. They keep it simple, easy and safe. The person who took my order was friendly and attentive. I wanted only half of falafel plate. He said they generally don't do but customized it for me. Ordered falafel, DebonedChicken (with fries and salad) and Boneless grilled chicken plate. The rice was topped with crunchy pine nuts. I chose lentil soup with entree, it was okay. It also comes with a massive bag of freshly baked warm pitas. The flavors were good and chicken was cooked to perfection. Prices are very reasonable and nice portion size. The meats and chicken were full of flavor and tender; the salads were fresh and savory. The pitas are homemade and freshly baked. The only miss was that the toum was given after it was asked for. Service. Greeted upon entering, and were offered to sit anywhere. Food was delivered quickly, albeit there was only one other table already there when we ordered. The server was efficient, friendly, personable, and accommodating. Actually, he was quite charming. Atmosphere. The decor consisted of pictures from Lebanon and Arabic music, consistent with the culture and the establishment's theme. The place is about less than 40-seats, which is our desired preference for most restaurants: it's big enough that you don't feel cramped, but it's small enough to facilitate a personal, intimate experience. Cleanliness. The restroom was stocked and clean, but a bit cold. As we were about to eat, one of the rolled silverware's napkins was a bit soiled. The meal was perfect from start to finish. We started with the salad, it was light and refreshing with a lemon vinegar dressing. Next up was the homemade bread. The bread alone is to die for!! Initially, it wasn't warm but we asked the server and she brought perfectly toasted bread with our entrée. The smell of it wafts up and entices you from the end of the table. It's amazingly light and buttery without the use of any butter (I think). We took some home and I was stuffed but I still couldn't stop the urge to immediately eat another piece in the car. We ordered the lamb and beef kebab with French fries. The plate mistakenly had rice but we told the server and she immediately put in the order. We had freshly made fries in minutes. The rice also ended up being delicious. Our server was sharp and attentive. Now let's get to the star of the show, the meats!! The lamb and beef kebab was perfectly cooked and oh so tender. I thought the lamb was beef at first because it was so clean without the distinctive gamey flavor lamb has sometimes. Add tahini sauce on the side to top it all off. This meal made me feel like I was in Lebanon eating at a local shop. I'd highly recommend checking this restaurant out, I'll definitely be there again soon. read more

Solid 4 stars from me. I enjoyed some food that was served at a holiday party so did not interact with the staff. The shish kabob was good, spiced perfectly and not to dry. The chicken shawarma was sort of shredded, which I prefer, and also very good. Lemon Tawook was so lemony! That was my favorite of the meats served. The hummus was delicious, so much so that there wasn't enough! The pita was excellent, it's soft and smelled amazing. You can tell they make it on site. They were smaller than others I've had and a bit tricky to fill with meat and sauce if that's what you're going for. The salad was standard for me, but honestly as long as the meat and pita are on point, I'm not picky. I will likely order from here myself when I'm in the area! read more

This was my first visit here. Choose it based on Yelp reviews. It is located on Ford road, but it is way back(way back!) in a shopping center. Staff were friendly. I was craving an eggplant dish, but alas, the only eggplant on the menu was a wrap. I chose that, and friend had the fattoush salad. The wrap usually comes with fries inside. As I was trying to eat healthy (it was the first day of the new year - we all have our ideas of eating more healthy, right?) I asked them to leave out the fries. So it turned into a cauliflower/eggplant wrap with onions. It was nicely grilled, but not a lot of filling. That may be different if you order it the way it is designed. The restrooms were ok, not clean but not so bad I didn't use them. There were boxes stored inside the ladies room. With so many options in Canton for Middle Eastern food, I would go elsewhere next time. read more

The food is so good here, and I am a tough critic. It's kind of a tradition, whenever I fly home to Michigan, I IMMEDIATELY get Middle Eastern food. My mom picked this place-we had a lovely meal and the staff was so friendly and accommodating (do not let the interior fool you either). About a month ago my husband asked about the previous owner and the guy told him rudely that it's under a new management! I convinced my husband to go back there and give them another chance! So We went there yesterday, an hour before closing time and they gave us attitude and mentioned their closing time like an hour is not enough time to make food so we left and would not go back again! read more

This use to be one of my go to place for years- but over the year it has gone down. I recently ordered over $100 worth of food and I was extremely disappointed with the quality, quantity, presentation, and what I got. First, there was not as much food this time as there had been in the past for the exact same order. It was one of their large family menu items and it was not much in the tin/tray. Second the food was ok but much of the meat (chicken and beef) were dry. There was flavor but they were over cooked. However the Kafka was really good and so was the hummus and baba. Rice had good favor but salty. Grape leaves were ok. Lastly, our salad had so much dressing already put on it the lettuce was wilting during our meal. It was in a swimming pool of dressing- we had to add our own lettuce to the salad and it still wasn't right. Now to the service...COVID is NOT taken seriously at all! No one was wearing mask, no sanitizer, nothing but the tables being moved. But when I was there for pick up people were sitting around and not distant from one another. They also messed up my order. I didn't realize until I got home abs called them about the problem. The person who picked the phone aid nothing when I told her- after an odd pause she said "so what? You want a new one or something" and I said YES! Had to go back and get the right food. When I walked in she just looked at me, then looked at my order on the side, looked at me again and went to her work. Didn't even say "hi" or acknowledge me or their mistake at all. I went to the order she looked at and verified that it was mine. She looked, rolled her eyes and did a slight "yes" with her head. Said nothing at all to me- I took my food and left. But when I got home the order was STILL WRONG! So not with my time to go back if I am not even valued. This is the third time I have been (or someone i know) has been treated like this. I am so sad to leave this place but I can't go here anymore after this. There are much better restaurants in the area- service and food. read more

After living in the Dearborn area for so long, I have high expectations for Middle Eastern food. I'm very happy to say The Sheikh is very comparable to what I had in Dearborn and even better that it's 5 minutes from my house. I went there with my family plus 2 guests from Canada who has never had Middle Eastern food before and everyone was impressed. We ordered the party tray wasn't cheap, but we were a group of 6, and it could've easily fed 6 more people. The variety was impressive. I would have to say the best of show for that tray was the grape leaves. Normally I don't like the grape leaves because they're usually slightly bitter or sour, these grape leaves tasted very neutral, making the filling that much more enjoyable. The chicken kabob gets the honorary mention. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. Our server was friendly and was very friendly and kind to my kids, not a bit of impatience at all. This definitely deserves to be added to our rotation for places that we would be glad to take our kids to. read more

We've been coming here for years and we were concerned when we heard ownership had changed. While we miss all the old wait staff and owner the food here has actually improved in all areas. We've been to many Middle Eastern restaurants here in Canton as well as Dearborn and the food here does not disappoint. We have many go to's on the menu and everything just tastes better, not dried out, and the tenderest meat. Typically when ownership changes quality goes down, but not here. Went with my friend for dinner Sunday pm. I ordered the deboned chicken and he ordered the kafta dish. We also ordered a small hummus. The food tasted ok, however, we both came up with food poisoning symptoms(not sure what caused it, either one of the Meals or the hommus).... I was advised to call the restaurant and inform them, and when I called the next day, the lady who answered the phone, stated "oh nobody complained, you probably got a cold or something " after I told her that me and my friend came down with food poisoning type of symptoms.
