Food was amazing! Service was exceptional! Establishment was clean and welcoming. Definitely recommend this authentic cuisine!

Wrap with kufta, baba ganoush, Arabian pickles, red onions, lettuce, black olives, and garlic sauce

The service was very fast considering the number of people that kept coming in! The walls are decorated with beautiful photos, and there is plenty of seating. The wrap was FANTASTIC! Toasted with baba ganoush base, kufta, Arabian pickles, red onions, black olives, lettuce, and garlic sauce. I did have to wait a bit for the kufta to be made fresh, and as I've never had it I was a little nervous, but I would've waited an hour if necessary. The meat is so flavorful and crispy, it was absolutely worth the wait. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating as well. Will definitely be back!!

I am STILL thinking about this meal. It was truly amazing. It felt so comforting to eat it. I have a food allergy and the staff communicated with me excellently to figure out what was fine to eat and they were so kind and patient. love this place

Pita or Bowl is conveniently located between our drive from Chicago to St. Louis when I was craving something other than the usual fast food options. We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap and a gyro bowl with veggies and chickpeas on top of hummus. The hummus was delicious, fresh, and creamy, but in hindsight I would have preferred rice as the base. The wrap was a bit dry but the chicken itself was tasty. We ordered the baklava cheesecake for dessert and it was so unique and decadent! The layers of crunchy flaky honey went well with the cheesecake.

Truly some of the best food I've had in the area! It was so flavorful, clean, and all around one of the best meals I've had. The service was amazing and you can tell they are passionate about their food and truly care. It was very clean and I would definitely come again! So worth the hour drive!!

Pita or Bowl is a must stop for delectable Mediterranean options.

Chicago to Los Angeles means trying new culinary options when the hungries take over. We were passing through Springfield, Illinois and it was lunchtime. We love, love, love Mediterranean style cuisine and so we chose Pita or Bowl today for lunch. This is kind of like spinning the spinner on Wheel of Fortune except you don't need to buy a vowel to discover the answer. You just need to pick a delightful option from the menu. We chose to construct our own bowls. Two bowls with basmati rice covered in generous helpings of falafel in one and chicken shawarma in the other. We added toppings of pickled turnips, pickles, cabbage, and red onions. These masterpieces were then finished with a ladle of tahini sauce spread over the top. The shawarma was excellently spiced and cooked. Mixed with the tahini sauces, toppings, and basmati rice this was very tasty! The falafel bowl had the same ingredients except with the falafel traded for the chicken. The falafel was well prepared with a nice crunch to the exterior and a light nicely spiced interior. Both bowls were taste festivals! We are sorry that we were only passing through because we would love to make many return trips to Pita or Bowl in the future so we could to try more of the yummy options.

Casual place for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. It's an order at the counter and fill it as you go operation. Pita Or Bowl, that is the question. Actually you can get neither, as in there's other options to choose. This is also one of the few places in Springfield to get this kind of food, and therefore a good place for those looking for healthier or plant based meals. Bowls are the most popular option, according to my observations when I was in here. It's a good option when you're really hungry and want to get a lot. This time I wasn't that hungry, so I got a pita. It's about $7 with falafel. You also get a protein choice, and the meats include chicken and gyro. Falafel of course is the best. They also put on a crap ton of toppings at no cost for loading it up. Get as much as you can and pay the same price. They also have a few sides. Good options but if hungry I would get a bowl. It has the most stuff in it. The prices seem kind of high so be sure to get as much free toppings.

Visually, the food looked great, and the portions were surprisingly generous -- especially for the Chicken Over Rice and Kunafa, which came in a full circular container (not just a small slice like I expected). Starting with the samosa, I was only given one when the order was supposed to include two. They were very small and clearly store-bought rather than handmade, which was a bit disappointing. I had also called ahead and placed a specific order request -- no tomatoes, extra white sauce -- but unfortunately, those details were missed. The person on the phone was polite, but it was frustrating that the accommodations I asked for weren't reflected in the meal, especially after double-checking. The Chicken Over Rice was flavorful, loaded with onions, green peppers, and hints of saffron. It's definitely Desi-style, so if you're not used to bold spices or flavors, it might feel strong -- but not particularly spicy. No white sauce as requested, which took away from the overall experience, but the portion size was excellent. The unexpected star of the order? The Kunafa. While it's not made in the traditional Levantine style, it was genuinely enjoyable and satisfying. I'd return for that alone. Overall, this was one of my more critical reviews, but I still see potential here. The food is halal, flavorful, and affordable. While the execution could've been better, especially with communication and accuracy, I'd be open to giving them another try -- especially for a late-night bite if I'm in town again.

We got there a little early and had the chai and a date mamool while we were waiting. They ended up taking our food order a little early so it would be ready at 11am since they weren't very busy and I am pretty sure the front counter worker was enamored with our 2 year old daughter. This was our second time here (we went last year as well when my wife was at this same conference) so I was well overdue to review this place. The food here is fantastic which is why we repeated it - it has to be for us to do that at places we visit. Good or okay doesn't get a repeat from us. The dolmas are exactly what you want them to be and there is a perfect amount of salt on the arabic salad, the cabbage salad, and the pickled turnips. Speaking of which, the pickled turnips here are divine perfection. I would be hard-pressed to find better pickled turnips anywhere. The schwarma is quite solid - not as good as I recall from The Netherlands, but as good as any here in the U.S. The Middle Eastern vegan platter is quite a bargain and delicious to boot. The workers here are very kind and I have no knocks against this place at all. They even sell Dubai chocolate to go on a deal - Buy two original bars and get a Strawberry cream Matcha one for free.
