This was the best gyro I've had in a very long time. The meat was delicious and juicy yet also had that slightest little crisp on the side. You could taste the freshness of the tzatziki which had a little garlic kick, the exact way I like it. The gyro sandwich, fries, and soda was $14. The fries have that crispy outer coating. I grew up in Chicago and these gyros are by far the best I have ever had. The Dolmas here are terrific too.

I had some questions and I called in my order and I told him about 20 minutes and the time I got there, it had just came up and sat by the register while he was writing something down and turned around and grabbed my order and it was very hot I would recommend this place to everyone the sauce was absolutely amazing, and the sandwich itself awesome so if you haven't tried them you really need too . The great is the Greek fries. Wonderful, but we didn't know we had to add the lemon juice that was in the bag, so we ate them as we drove home with oregano only. Still hot and wonderful. Now, the gyro with $5.00 of extra meat was not excellent. In fact, I will not eat there again. I feel like we got scammed. We got one gyro with extra meat because the two of us were slightly hungry so we wanted to share it. In the photos I tried to show different angles so you can judge if you think there is extra meat. The sauce is also so full of garlic I could hardly eat it and I love garlic. The dining room was nice. There is enough room for a large crowd so I was looking forward to bringing friends. But, that won't happen now. I don't understand how a restaurant can be that cheap. Our total for the gyro was $13.00. That should get us more meat. read more

If you are in the mood for gyros- this is your joint. Truly authentic and delicious. It's one of my favorite to-go dinners. It's easy to call ahead and pop in to pickup- generally they are quite fast. Inside the restaurant is quite small- but it's ok for a super casual eat-in. I wouldn't necessarily pick it for a date night, but my longtime date (AKA my hubby) and I really enjoyed it. read more

We tried Yannis Gyros last night. I have to say that I totally enjoyed the experience. Not just the food, but the ambiance as well. As we approached from the parking lot, I noted to my trusted copilot that you can't see inside. Having read a few negative reviews among mostly positive I said "we're going in!" What a treat this place is! I love taking a step back into time. The atmosphere is clean, friendly and well-lit. We thoroughly enjoyed the gyros baskets. I chuckled as I gladly paid the 25 cents for a refill on my Coke. My girlfriend tried to make me save some of my fries but I said "No, I'm having a very nice time and I'd like to finish them." So this place is a bit of dive, but it should be taken at face value. Pretty good gyro, good sauce and lots of hot fries.

Let me start off with a little disclaimer; If my wife did not absolutely love her gyro this would be a lower rating! The place is filthy dirty, the service was non-existent and my food was average at best. We arrived before they were "staying open but only allowing to-go orders" but the people who ordered right before us were allowed to stay and eat. My wife's exact words were "the food was amazing the service was crap". This is a review for the gyro shoe, which for an outsider is a fascinating piece of Springfield culture. For those new in town: a "horseshoe" is an open-faced sandwich that traditionally consists of a slice of bread, a hamburger patty, and cheese sauce topped with fries, credited with being invented in Springfield in 1928. The gyro shoe served here is a fusion take on that: and consists of a pita, veggies, gyro meat, cheese, and fries topped with tzatziki cause. For gyro (and horseshoe) purists, it's practically sacrilege. But for those willing to overlook tradition, these elements come together in a surprisingly tasty concoction. My only issue was that the cheese sauce added way too much salt to an already salty dish, and could've been "interpreted" as the tzatziki (which, in contrast, added a nice acidity to the dish without oversalting it). The serving size is large, and there are enough fries on it that it doesn't warrant a separate order of them. I did want to try the Greek fries so I ended up adding it on. They were really well-seasoned and delicious but definitely did not complement the shoe dish well and would be better served accompanying the regular gyros. read more

I've heard about Yanni's for years. I was just never in the area. Today I decided we should wait no longer. But what do I order? No worries the lady at the register made amazing suggestions! Pictured is a Dolmades in a dill lemon sauce. It was beyond Amazing! My Greek salad was loaded. My husband loved his gyro & ate most of my dolmades. He Said it was way more flavorful than gyro stop. So I had been craving Saganaki for some time. We missed the Greek festival a few weeks ago and the only Greek restaurants that serve it in Kansas City are an old school traditional place where you have the "experience" complete with belly dancers and then a modern, upscale restaurant in Leawood where saganaki is $12 and $16 respectively. I thought I had hit the goldmine when our hotel in St. Louis was across the street from a classic Greek spot. But alas, their hours didn't correspond with our arrival and departure so onward to Indy with no saganaki. On our way back to KC we decided to take a more scenic route. I started to get hungry around Decatur. Look! Thai food. That will work. Oh, we missed the exit? What's in Springfield? Wait, what is that I see? Yanni's has saganaki? I. Was. Going. To. Get. Saganaki. Yanni's is the ultimate hole in the wall gyro stand. Dingy and in need of fresh paint but that usually tells me I may have found a gem in the rough. The first good sign was that they were really busy doing take out in the middle of the afternoon. The gal at the counter wasn't super friendly at first but it was just her and the cook so she was doing her best to take and fill orders while answering the phone. I get it, you're in the weeds and it's three in the afternoon! We ordered gyros and of course, saganaki. It was served with a mini pita so not a lot bread but that was okay. I came for the cheese. I was so thrilled that I didn't even care that it came with a lemon packet instead of fresh lemon. It was delicious. The gyros were some of the best I've had. The edges of the meat were perfectly crispy. The onions were sliced extremely thinly. You wouldn't think the way an onion is cut would make much of the difference but let me tell you, diced onions would not have been the same. The tzatziki was on point and veggies were fresh. We left full and satisfied. The next several hours in the car were spent listening to music and smiling about our last meal. Until we stopped for gas and I realized I didn't have my phone. It was still a few hours to get home to Overland Park, but I called Yanni's and indeed, they had my phone. Here's where it gets amazing. The owner(?) said he would gladly send me the phone and refused to let us pay for it. ****LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN! THE OWNER SENT ME MY PHONE ON HIS OWN DIME!**** This is so far above and beyond. Wow!!! Fantastic!! I highly recommend Yannis Gyros! The Gyro Salad was amazing! The flavors of the vinagarette dressing (they put dressing on the side), the best tzatziki sauce, the freshness of the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese(4 medium chunks), cucumbers (2 slices), pepperconnis (2), olives, and the generous portion of spiced perfectly gyro meat!! The hummus and pita were superb! We tried the spanakopita (spinach pie) which was ok...I personally like more spinach. The dolmakadia was good but I'm not use to them being warm and covered with a opaque gravy-like sauce. Also to mention very affordable! My bill was less than $20. They do charge 4% extra if you use a credit card. I suggest you try Yannis just once in your life! If I lived in the area I would go there once a week! Keep up the great food and service Yannis! I was working in Springfield and looked for some Greek food. I gave Yanni's a try for lunch. The menu had all the basics you would want. I ordered a gyro and falafel with sauce at the counter. The food was made and my name was called in a reasonable time. The gyro was tasty with the right blend of meat, onions, tomato and tzatziki. The falafel order was 4 good sized coins that were crispy on the outside and soft flavorful inside. The tzatziki was also very good. I cannot complain about the service or the food. But ... this place needs a good thorough scrubbing! When was the last time they mopped and cleaned the floor? Have the napkins dispensers on the tables been cleaned anytime this year? read more

We were just passing by and stumbled into Yanni's. We ordered the gyro sandwich and gyro salad and WE LOVED IT! I used to living in Greek town and had gyros all the time, and honestly, Yannis is soooo much better. Its clean and so tasty. Tzatziki sauce that came with the salad was AMAZING. Great place for no mask requirement. 1 cook was protecting his chin, cashier was letting her nose air out and 1 customer no mask at all. I will say that one lady (seemed like the boss) was wearing her mask right. The food was good (Gyros and Italian beef), but we will never go back due to the hygiene. Hubby and I stopped in one our way through Springfield on a trip. An obvious established Springfield restaurant, it is rough around the edges, but absolutely worth the stop. We ordered a gyro basket with extra meat and a mini gyro basket. The portions are great! We could have easily shared a fry which we will definitely do next time. The gyro meat is so flavorful by itself then you add the zitti sauce and man o man that is one tasty gyro. Everything was made to order so it was fresh and so yummy. The prices are really reasonable especially the basket prices. We were told this place has a following and we can absolutely see why. We rolled in at 7pm so we had to eat on the trunk of our car because the dine-in was closed, but ya know I didn't mind a little picnic in the parking lot.
