Tik Tok made me do it. Lol I stopped at Monty's submarines on my way to Chicago. It did not disappoint. I would go here again.

We were in town for a show at the State Fair grounds and wanted a quick bite for lunch. The service was friendly and fast. My wife had the turkey bacon ranch on French and I had the beefeater on French the sandwiches were exceptionally delicious, so much so we went back the next day for lunch. She had the Rueben and I had the el italiano, highly recommend the 1706 Sangamon location, it small and in a small strip shop setup, the place was clean and neat.

Amazing subs! The Guy making sandwiches is a character, but the best service!!! Highly recommend!!! Sandwiches have a ton of meat, so recommend splitting!!!

I had Monty's years ago from the Brunswick lane location. I stumbled into the sangamon store Saturday looking for a lite lunch. Walked in to empty store. Only to hear the owner yell.over the TV in back of store "I'll be right there" Comes out and is very talkative. Takes my order. I go to sit down at one of the empty and very dirty, sticky tables. "He says I probably should wipe.off the tables" I looked for the cleanest one and use napkins to wipe of the crumbs from God knows when the last customer. Enjoyed the club on wheat very filling, offer of different choices of chips, but only offers can soda, fountain soda, and bottle water. Not one time did the owner come out to check with me if everything was ok nor if I needed anything. I guess he was to involved in missing his TV show in the back. I then went to use the bathroom before leaving. And walked into a dirty very outdated bathroom. Dirty seat with left over fecal matter all over the toilet, sticky floor and something that looked like soap leaking on the sink. I will never visit this store every again and I think maybe health inspector should visit soon.

One of the best Sammie's I've ever had, great bread and a big portion. Wish there was one near me in KC

Tanja brought us some pita bread and carrot salad to start. That was complementary. We had a couple of cocktails from the bar, which were very good. We next had the Cigar Borek, which were little cheese rolls with a spicy tomato dip that was outstanding! We then ordered the beef doner wrap, which was just delicious! The beef they use for this is really tender and delicious. We cannot wait to return to this lovely Ugly Restaurant. :)

One of the reasons I love Mediterranean food is its use of spices and infused flavors. A complimentary carrot salad mixed with yogurt was served with warm pita bread. This was not good, frankly, and was the start of what would end up being an underwhelming experience. I ordered the mixed sampler platter for an appetizer. The only thing worth eating was the falafel and the cigar borek (fried breaded cheese). My entrée was the chicken shish kabobs that were accompanied by rice, a small chargrilled tomato, a chargrilled pepper and an onion salad. The chicken lack any kind of seasoning. Even salt would've help. This was probably the most bland Mediterranean food I've ever experienced. The presentation was grade A but the lack of flavor resulted in a Grade C. Even the baklava was bland. For $60 (including tip) I could've had a much more fulfilling meal.

There were only a couple of empty tables in there, but that changed quickly and within 5 minutes there was a wait of 20-30 mins. Our server "TT" took our orders right away and the entire time we were there no one's beverage got even close to empty. Considering how many tables she had, the amount of attention she dedicated to us was impressive. The food was great! Biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon were yummy as were the waffles. For 4 adults the tab came to $52 with drinks, before tip. Not a bad value especially since 3 of us took half of our food to go because the portions are so large. We will be back next time we're in town!

We stopped in on a day's drive from Kansas City to Chicago, due to the quantity and quality of reviews all over the internets, very much including Yelp! We were hungry and in need of some energy for lunch, and Charlie Parker's delivered on both! The place looks like a small military airplane hangar, but don't be fooled: inside is some of the best greasy spoon food you could wish for in the Midwest! The dining room is bright, tight, and fun, decorated to the inch by fun, colorful and humorous memorabilia! We ordered, and were served just a few quick minutes later. Each platter (correct word!) was stuffed with awesome, tasty food! Amongst the four of us, we had some sweet and some savory options, and we all tried each others! We all agreed - the food was delicious! When the bill came and printed at the bottom was a number less than $100, less than $50, I almost lost my mind! We were STUFFED to the gills with awesome diner fare, and our bill was barely $40! How did this happen? I pray this place is somehow eeking out a profit, as I seriously can't remember getting so much awesome food for so little cost in a sit-down restaurant. If it IS making money, then MAJOR kudos to the owner - this business model should be copied throughout the land. Food = 4/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 6/5
