On Friday around 4pm, I walked in and the woman behind the counter was literally sucking her fingers- like she had a splinter/hangnail or something. We made eye contact, she continued. I said "are you okay"- still kept going. The guy behind the counter was on his phone. I love Corelife eatery. Ate eveyday for a month at one in Lafayette, IN. I was excited to move to Springfield and have one in town, but was disappointed with the cleanliness. This one, I wont return too. I ate in the store with view of the counter. I was grossed out that they kept taking off their gloves, playing with phones and then sliding the same used gloves on- someone is going to get food poisoning or cross contamination. read more

My only complaint was that the employee who made my bowl was on his phone before he put his gloves on... kind of gross but he did put fresh gloves on before making my bowl. The food was ready quickly. The quality of food was very poor, unfortunately. I used to go to a couple places like this in Florida so I had high hopes, I guess. My order was incorrect and the food was of low quality. My favorite part was the "fresh basil" that I topped it off with. I ordered 2 kinds of noodles. I only got one kind, which were very dry and hard to chew. The bottom of the bowl was full of some sort of liquid that I didn't order. The tofu was flavorless. Nothing that claimed to be spicy was spicy. I just found the whole dish very disappointing and lacking flavor in general. I really wanted to like this place. I have been laid off for a month and decided I was going to treat myself to a tuna poke fire for starting my new job. I ordered mine to go and as I was heading out the door had an employee complaining that I didn't give a tip for my one item. At a place that doesn't pack you silverware or napkins in your to go orders seriously? All they did was make a salad and put a lid on it. We were excited to finally try this place, after seeing some co-workers bowls. When entering there wasn't much of greeting-we were the only ones in location. We stated we were new and trying to figure out menu. Not once did anyone say "anything we can answer for you" or even try to take the initiative to suggest anything. Again, while giving our orders there were no offers of guidance-when we were obviously struggling. Our food was definitely from the night before. The soup was extremely thick. My daughter didn't even eat. She was disappointed because broccoli cheese is her favorite. Our wraps had more wrap then ingredients. The lack of protein was noticeable. Maybe it's because they were teenagers that they were not filled like advertised. Whatever the reason it was unacceptable, for a 15 dollar wrap. I would not recommend that Brussels sprouts. After sending the first batch back - due to not being able to chew them-I was graced with a bowl of charcoaled leaves. Took two bites and couldn't stomach the burnt taste. I love Brussels sprouts but extremely disappointed. The drink stand was disgusting-tubs obviously haven't been cleaned in days if not a lot longer. Just really disappointed. Pleasantly surprised to find they have a creatively delicious menu. So many options to choose from food and drink wise! I chose the Fire Tuna Poke bowl with everything that is supposed to come on it and I was not disappointed. If you enjoy spicy but still like to taste your food, this is just right. If I could change something, I wish I had asked for extra poke because there were so much pickled beets and rice left over. Also, the selection of lemonades and juice is so unique, I tried 3 different drinks while there. And the drinks are self serve, so you can sample or fill up your glass. I tried the tropical green tea, coconut water punch (might not be right name), and beet lemonade. Of the 3, the lemonade was my favorite. Definitely different and if you don't like beets, you might not be a fan. Price wise, I find it comparable to other eateries of this style. If what they're serving isn't your jam, you're probably going to be disappointed. My bowl plus drink (which I refilled 3 times) totaled around $15. And I felt great afterward! Really a perfect midday meal. This would be a great place to visit several times, because you can truly try something different each time! I enjoy this fast casual health-focused restaurant. There aren't too many in Springfield. I first had the vegan broth bowl (I forget the name) and it was very very bland. I don't recommend it unless you're sick or something. I have returned since then and my favorite thing to order is the Sriracha ginger tofu bowl w/ ancient grains but I sub in purple rice for the quinoa. It's amazing! If you don't like spice omit the sriracha or get it on the side. You can sub a different protein or ask to omit items, too. Everything has tasted really fresh when I've gotten it so I don't have complaints. I like that they offer tofu since I don't eat meat. read more

The food was great. Very fresh, tasty and healthy. However the floor near the drinks was awful - very sticky and attracting flies. Bathrooms were not clean. We ate outside and the tables out there have not been cleaned in probably days. The trash was overflowing and it was just past noon, so I'm sure the trash hadn't been emptied out there in days either. read more

I eat here all the time. You need to find a bowl or wrap that really speaks to you, as I have found some variations in quality and taste from one to another. My favorite is the buffalo southwest chicken bowl, and I have had it dozens of times. It is always delicious and their employees are always friendly and move very quickly. It is one of the true places in town that I can get a meal in less than 10 minutes. read more

Tried this new place a couple of days after it opened. They have a large selection of fresh veggies which I liked. I ordered the Chicken Cobb salad and hubby had the Spicy chicken & Ancient grains bowl. We both enjoyed what we had very much. I also had their fresh fruit punch with coconut water which I think will be my go to drink there. Will be going back soon to try their Broth bowls and protein plates. Thumbs up for now, hopefully the good service and cleanliness or the store will remain so it will become a favorite eating of many. I've been to this location several times, but not in the past year until a few days ago. Was very disappointed in what I saw. The glass along counter was covered with fingerprints and drink rings and oily smudges, the light fixtures that hang directly above where the employees prepare food were covered with a thick layer of dust, and worst of all every drink dispenser had multiple rings on the inside where the different lemonades had congealed. These were not things that can happen in just a few days - things hadn't been cleaned in a long time. (I cleaned in an industrial environment for 30 years) On top of that, staff were very uninterested in my order, didn't ask how I wanted my steak cooked, and barely looked up at me while I was ordering. Someone needs to light a fire under the managers ass. It's really sad because I loved the food there a few years ago. read more

Our first time here. They do a pretty good job. The dressings are pretty good and we liked that virtually everything is GF. I love salads, but to me the Mediterranean one was like too much green stuff. I changed the dressing to the miso sesame and that was good. It came with a half slice of bread, which I thought was sort of silly as it was useless without butter or was just plain boring bread. I give them credit for wanting to be unique with the beverages as there were a number of unique lemonade blends. Again to me, I only liked one as they seem to have an abundance of sweeteners. The staff were good and helpful. All in all, I don't think I would return, even though I love the concept. Or, maybe I would try one of the other types of dishes. As I don't eat meat, the selections were fine, but possibly they could substitute meat for either tofu or avocado, which they state are an up charge. We were traveling, I wanted to check out, but in St. Louis, we have Crushed Red and I greatly prefer them over Core Life....sorry. read more

I love that this place brings clean, nutrient dense food. However, all 3 times I've been here, the service was horrible. The staff have not once been friendly--no smiles, no greetings, nothing. 2 of the 3 times we waited for the staff to walk over or start our order at the counter. You can still cook healthy and add flavor but CoreLife chooses not to. They are a health food restaurant but the only drinks they are offer are various sugar loaded lemonades. Warning: Some of spicy dishes are WAY too hot. I asked to have only a few drops of the chili sauce on my spicy ginger steak noodles, but was given what looked like the standard serving. Long story short, it was so spicy that I absolutely couldn't eat it. When asked if everything was ok, I told staff my food was beyond SPICY AND INEDIBLE but they said there is nothing they can do, saying everything is set up by "corporate." You can make substitutions and I suggest you do this and perhaps ask for spicy sauces on the side and add them to your taste. I felt rushed to give an order and I was told the employees are trained to get you through in 2 1/2 minutes. read more
