Then we learned that this restaurant had recently opened, and we just had to give it a try. It's a small place, with a few tables inside and several large picnic tables with umbrellas on a side lawn set back from the street, a surprisingly pleasant spot to enjoy a meal. We were greeted warmly upon arrival by a gentleman who was probably the owner. The menu is still fairly small, though we were told it will be expanded later in the season. We started with the carrot tarator, a yogurt-and-carrot spread served with warm pide bread. Whatever else was in it, it was outstanding. For our main courses, we ordered the grilled Adana and köfte. Both were flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The sauce served on the side was excellent and complemented the dishes perfectly. Desserts aren't available yet, but they're expected to be added in July. To finish the meal, we had Turkish tea served in traditional armudi (pear-shaped) glasses. It was enjoyable, though a bit lighter than what my Turkish friend introduced me to. Personally, I prefer a stronger brew that showcases the deep red color for which Rize tea (Rize çayı) is famous. I usually add a little mint and cardamom as well, but that's just my personal preference. One other pleasant surprise: by Bar Harbor standards, the prices are quite reasonable. And for those who prefer it, there are seafood options on the menu as well. We'll definitely be back.
