Staff was attentive. It's in a cutesy little building and well decorated with retro car aesthetic. I will say that their Cole slaw is inventive and includes pineapple. Their banana pudding was also exquisite. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was not to my tastes. I would not call this typical Texas barbecue. The meat was good quality and cooked appropriately. However it was incredibly underseasoned. Wasn't particularly Smokey either. I felt like I was eating a zero sodium heart healthy dish. The Americans with Disabilities Act does not require service animals to wear a vest, ID tag, or specific harness. I was directed I had to eat outside in the fly infested area since our service animals were not wearing vests. Even when I informed the staff this was not a requirement, I continued to be discriminated against and told I could not be in the establishment. Stopped in for lunch after a trip through the Caverns of Sonora. Deb ordered the two piece barbecued chicken thighs, pineapple coleslaw with potatoe salad. The place looks clean from comfort room to the eating area. They have a cute collection of the plate numbers. Decent amount of chairs inside and it appear they had an outside sitting but we were not able to see that during our visit. The staff were nice and easy to talk to. Food was good - the boar, you have this cheesy sausage, brisket and ribs that meat fall easily partnered with the sides you choose. I had coleslaw and their creamy corn but for me it didn't match BUT a simple corn will actually be a good one as the bbq have a lot of taste already and I don't think so that needs to add more. The Jackalope was just so good that can't stop eating am not sure if it was supposed to be spicy but it's not. We also had the two soft drinks and it was really good especially the root beer. The reviews got my attention. The service is about as good as it gets (suggested a sandwich without bread if I wanted a plate with just one side) and the indoor and outdoor (covered) seating areas are cozy but it all comes down to the food when we eat out. I got the sliced brisket, creamed corn and the cobbler (no additional charge with Yelp checkin). The brisket is tender and just warm with a subtle flavor, the cream corn is fresh and room temperature with almost no flavor and the dessert is a room temperature sweet sticky concoction sparse on peaches. For the price 13.50 (tip +2.00) and the reviews I anticipated more. I'd eat here again if I was in town but wouldn't stop off I10 just to eat here. An very unassuming place on first arrival. Inside is tiny and equally low key but clean, very rustic and western in feel. They may by small in structure but they are big on service and flavor and portions. I got the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. I opted for turkey, brisket, pulled pork, tater salad, and pineapple coleslaw. All of it was great! Nothing average or bad at all. Brisket was very tender and moist. Turkey was also very tender which I love with smoked white meat, flavor with texture both on point. The pulled pork was lean, proper salted (not overkill as many often are) and equally flavorful, melt in your mouth tasty. The slaw with pineapple was a first for me and I tell ya, I like it this way! The banana pudding is one of the top 3 I have had in Texas as well. The 3 staffers here are young, kind, helpful and friendly. Upon entering, the decor is very nice looks like a raceway theme and the staff was very friendly and inviting. We placed our order around 2pm and sat down. Went to the restroom which was clean so impressive there. Now for the food, arrived to our table fast and was pretty presentable. Ordered the 2 ribs and jalapeños sausage plate with cream corn and pinto beans as my side not bad for around $20. The ribs were good a bit dry but bbq sauce complemented it. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was good so were the the cream corn and pinto beans. We have been served everything from canned refried beans to grocery store deli Cole slaw. Not at Pit Stop. The sides complement the meat. Right? After all, if they don't, why even put them on the plate? I want to share some of the sides we ordered. The creamed corn was delicious. You have to try it. It complimented the tenter brisket I ordered. Who puts pineapple in coke slaw? Pit Stop does. It added a little more twang to our plates and complimented the ribs and shredded pork. Add a grilled jalapeño pepper to discriminately add to your food for heat and flavor. Along with raw onions the pepper boosted the flavor on the table. Don't look for fancy ambiance or super service. We ordered Two 3 meat combination plates with baked potato for a side. The potato was soft and lots of toppings with real crispy bacon. We now know why the potato substitutes as 2 sides with the plate meal. It was a TX sized potato. The brisket was thick but juicy and the touch of meat to marbling ratio was perfect. The jalapeno cheese sausage was the right amount of heat and juicyness. The ribs were fall off the bone. The barbecue sauce was the right amount of sweet and savory. Great place to stop for food in between El Paso and Austin. We had the Big Boar Plate and the Chicken Tacos. I've been eating barbecue across the country for the past 50 years and I've just had the single best barbecue dinner plate that has ever been served to this truck driver. On my way to San Antonio driving in 107° heat, one of my buddies told me "don't miss the pitstop". Now I know why. I ordered the three meat plate that included ribs, chopped brisket, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. All three were cooked/smoked absolutely perfectly and served in a tiny yet spotlessly clean dining room with old school country music playing. My order included two truly beautiful smoked ribs, a perfect cut of marbled brisket (ordered, chopped), and the jalapeño cheddar sausage drizzled with the traditional loose, tangy and slightly sweet bbq sauce found in Texas which topped off the flavors perfectly. For the sides, I asked the two adorable young ladies working there what they recommended. They steered me into the creamed corn and the coleslaw. Mind blown! You have to try their whole kernel freshly shucked from the cob sweet corn in whatever their creamy sauce is. SO great. And their coleslaw has a hint of pineapple in it that wakes it up and makes the absolutely perfect acidic balance to the meats. I wish I had two stomachs so I could eat a second plate right now! Very poor customer service. Despite their website stating that pets are welcome, when we entered the restaurant, the manager approached us and sternly asked if our dog was a service animal. The tone made us feel as though pets were a problem, and we were being treated as if we had committed an offense by bringing one into their establishment. Please note that they are NOT pet-friendly, and I would recommend avoiding this place if you have a pet. If the manager is reading this, I would suggest offering a more welcoming approach in the future. Made a quick stop on our road trip at Pit Stop Bbq. We called in our order when we were 20 mins out on the road & it was ready when we got there! The inside of the restaurant is super nostalgic with license plates of all the states. The outside was plenty of outdoor seating. Both inside and out were super clean & employees were very friendly. Me & the hubs shared the 2 meat combo. The sausage was good. Brisket was okay - were not fans of boiled brisket but it was tender and flavorful.
