We stopped on our way from California to Austin. We had decided to reduce our car back home ourselves. Lala's is like dropping by someone's home and having mom feed you. The decor is homey and the service was good. The food was exactly as expected. Home cooked Mexican and the salsa that came with the chips was one of the best I've ever had. Perfect touch of a building heat that really compliments the food. I had chile verde chicken enchiladas and was happy with both the dish and the sides. Solid homemade Mexican food. It's not the fanciest place, but it reminds you of a Mexican mom turning her home into a kitchen and cooking with heart. Our server was also the chef, and she was incredibly sweet, bilingual, and made the whole experience feel personal. The food was yummy, homestyle, quick, and the prices were super fair. At one point someone even brought in a dog they found on the street and the owner went out of their way to help find its owner. That kind of kindness says everything about this place. Our favorite place to go to when we're traveling in the area! Although it seems small, there is plenty of room for a large group. I would consider this place a hole in the wall type of establishment. Parking can be tricky since it's in a neighborhood but we've always found a place to park. Service is prompt and helpful while the food is what we love the most! Always fresh, and delicious! Honestly I didn't like my food or my father's, but my girlfriend got the street tacos on corn and it tasted great! The service was great, they were extremely kind and willing to give us as many chips as we wanted. DO NOT GO HERE!! If I could leave zero stars, I would. Went to Lala's while visiting Sonora, and unfortunately, I had a really unpleasant experience. My food was served with a live roach on the plate. I've never had that happen in my entire life. Needless to say, I lost my appetite. Found this place off apple maps by searching Mexican food. Pictures looked good so I decided to try it. I read some of the yelp reviews while I was waiting for my food and the 3 top ones were 1 stars. I had to join yelp to leave a positive review for this place based off what I experienced, not to say others reviews aren't accurate. My meal was great. I got the ground beef Chile rellenos plate. The salsa had great flavor and the right heat for me, noticeable after 2-3 bites but not over the top. Rice was cooked perfectly, which seems like no big deal but a lot of places don't get it right. The queso on the relleno was delicious. My one criticism was the beans, they were just ok. I got friendly and kind service. If I lived in the area I'd be a regular here. Easy and quick to get to off 10 and Sonora has cheap gas. read more

Stopped by to have a Mexican dinner and my chile relleño was not fried how they said it would be it looked like they just poured nacho cheese over it . Also when I went to pay my total was $101 I gave her $110 and she said that the tip was not included when I gave her almost $9 for her tip . I honestly have mixed feelings about this restaurant for a few different reasons. I felt as they were extremely accommodating, they even allowed me to bring my dog in, but I also sensed she was kind of annoyed. Maybe it was us I'm not sure. The cleanliness of this was not adequate. I will admit that it was inside a house and seems to be a small business, but it was just so humid in there and the bathrooms were gross. The food was actually delicious. I really enjoyed my chicken fajitas and the fact that they gave us pecans as appetizer was amazing. However, I was not a fan of their chips and salsa. The water was also very unappetizing. It's a good place to stop by if you're traveling and want something other than fast food. read more

My husband and I traveled through Sonoma last Sunday night and with most businesses closed, LaLa's was the choice. We've had excellent luck at small, off the beaten path places, but LaLa's was not one of those times. My husband had the beef tacos and deemed them passable. I had the chicken verde enchiladas and lived to strongly regret my choice. We Paid our bill and left, within the hour, I started feeling very uneasy. When we reached our hotel, I spent the night riding "the porcelain pony"! After a sleepless night of experiencing liquid from both ends, I finally cleared what hit me. All I can say is, "Caveat Emptor"! Keep driving and go for Sonic or Subway. read more

This is the brightest spot of Sonora! We came in to town late, tired and hungry - found Lala's on a map and just followed GPS to a charming and authentic little place! The salsa is amazing, service wonderful, food great - and our waitress Ana was the sweetest! Where else can you get a hug goodbye after eating delicious tacos?!? First time trying out the Sonora dining scene. I noticed the road sign off the main road, directing to the location of Lala's Mexican Restaurant. It's a modest little restaurant offers Mexican food, American food, Seafood, burgers, salads & soups on their menu. Complimentary chips & salsa is served. I really liked the thin crispy tortilla chips. I didn't order the special of the day, which was the chicken fried steak. I saw other people ordering it & the homemade fries got my attention. Instead, I had the crispy chicken tacos. The tacos were stuffed with a generous portion of shredded chicken meat, topped with lettuce, tomato & cheese. I requested onion to be added as well & got charro beans instead of refried beans. Over all, the taste of my meal & quality of food was fairly good. I may have ordered the wrong menu item because everyone else's food looked better! Or it could have been that I really wanted something higher in calorie count?! Lol!! Excellent service. Food is home cooking. Nothing fancy. New cook so that may have been part of the problem.

The menu posted on Yelp is out of date. It showed $9.95 for Loco Nachos. I called in the order and when we got there to pay, we discovered it was actually $13.95. They also charged a 3% fee for using a credit card. Maybe their food prices have gone up astronomically with inflation. Who knows? On a positive note, the people were friendly and the nachos were tasty. We saw the woman in the kitchen cooking the chicken so we knew it was fresh. Still, I don't think it was worth the 40% price increase. read more

I had Lala's steak it did need a little extra seasoning. Also it wasn't spicy at all.. the Chicken fried steak was pretty good just extremely small. Traveling through on the Interstate, we decided to get off the road and try a local place. We enjoyed our meals and the owner works hard to take care of the customers. They have an adequate dining area and also a patio for times when the weather allows. A very authentic dining experience. They were busy but we got served very quickly. read more

My family is on a road trip, moving from WA State to San Antonio. My husband, young siblings and I stopped by for dinner two hours before closing. No greeting, slow service, masks not being worn. The waitress seemed tired and said she was working there alone. Even so, she didn't really seem to care about offering a quality service by any means. She sighed and looked frustrated every time we ordered (and we weren't getting complex things. Just tacos and chicken tenders and such) and she wasn't sure if my husbands WA State Drivers License was valid. She was very hesitant to give him a single beer. She only checked on us once while we ate and I can only assume she was working the outdoor dining area the rest of the time. We spent a lot of time waiting on her to come back in to ask for the bill and anything else. The food itself wasn't great. Fried food was all pretty soggy. Aside from water, there were only 5 non alcoholic options. Literally just lemonade, ice tea, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, and Diet Coke. No other sodas or juices. We had to ask for condiments multiple times and still didn't get them all. When we ordered our food, I let the waitress know that my mother and youngest sister were resting at the hotel and that we would be making another order to go after they had a chance to view some photos of the menu. Towards the end, when she finally came back inside and asked if we were ready to pay, I reminded her that I still needed to order for the rest of my family. She reluctantly took the order (chicken tenders, some tacos with strictly no meat because my mom is a vegetarian, and a sprite) and told us the bill total. Apparently because we had 5 or more plates (we had 4 in house and 2 to go) they charged us automatic gratuity of 20%. Due to poor service I would have tipped less, but okay. I get it. I'm from the PNW and there, automatic gratuity isn't usually charged unless there are like 10+ people, but lots of things are different down here. Maybe that's normal for this area. I don't know. They didn't give us any of the condiments for the to go order, didn't give us the Sprite that we paid for, and to top off the night, the tacos had beef on them. We are exhausted from traveling for days and were really hoping for a nice, relaxing dinner. What we got was a subpar meal that we had to double and triple check, paired with horrible service. If we had shown up 10 minutes to close, I would understand a couple of the issues, but we arrived hours before closing. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. Too bad. read more
